Construction of kitchens– digging foundations, mixing of concrete (manual), building (skilled labour) →provide a hygienic kitchen for the school → food is prepared in a proper stove → children get warm food at lunch → children are healthier and there is improved concentration in class →improved attendance and performance in school AND Children do not have to return home at lunch (for food/ to collect firewood) → less interference with learning → greater attendance and concentration in class →improved attendance and performance in school Provide energy saving stoves → reduced destruction to the environment → increased environmental sustainability AND Eco-friendly stoves → less smoke in the kitchen → staff more comfortable in the kitchen → improved health of cooking staff Provide equipment for the school kitchen (e.g. pots and pans) →provide a hygienic kitchen for the school → food is prepared in a proper stove → children get warm food at lunch → children are healthier and there is improved concentration in class →improved attendance and performance in school Host volunteers and camps → provides different cultural perspectives → enables the sharing of cultures and ideas (knowledge transfer) both within and between groups (volunteers assist where there are staff shortages) AND Volunteers pay to visit → financial contribution is paid to the schools→ Schools can invest and improve resources further Create school committee so that the parents can assist with the projects Educational meetings / workshops on energy saving stoves → education on energy saving and consumption of resources → better understanding on the value of the environment → more efficient use of resources → increased environmental sustainability

What are our targets for this programme
Food is cooked on time The length of time that lunch takes – quick distribution of food Improved attendance
1. Out of the sudents already at the school they are attending school for more of the school day – staying at school rather than having to leave for lunch 2. The feeding programme means that students are attracted from other schools so there is an increase in student intake Improved grades due to improved nutrition More students are eating at school.
(People – Resources – What we do – What we aim to achieve – How we measure change – Wider goal ) This project aims to assist the wider long-term development aims in two ways. Firstly by feeding children at school it provides an incentive for the student to go to school and therefore encourages the student to continue with education. As education can be seen as a key driver for social, political, environmental, cultural and economic development this will impact both the local community and wider afield. Secondly, this project aims to educate on new technologies that are appropriate to the community. This and understanding the environmental issues that it seeks to overcome encourages local people to value their natural environment and as such creates a greater sense of care and environmental sustainability.
