Liam Neeson stars as the son of the late, great Frank Drebin Sr. For new recruits, Lieutenant Drebin Sr is the legendarily disastrous detective made famous by the iconic Leslie Nielsen in a series of classic, joke-aminute comedies. If Jr’s following in his father’s footsteps, then he better watch his step as prat falls, parody, and the perfect amount of toilet humour are sure to be in his crosshairs.

Bringing a new generation of the classic crime-busting trio together, Paul Walter Hauser stars as Ed Hocken Jr, the son of Police Squad’s long-suffering Captain, while Moses Jones plays the son of Drebin Sr’s partner,

Catching a missing swan, popping to the shop for a cornetto, and taking down a countryside cult before heading to the pub and then home for an action movie marathon. It’s all in a day’s work for Nicholas Angle and Danny Butterman in this classic. Perfick.

You still ain’t seen Bad Boys 2? It’s got fast laughs, slow-mo explosions, and the kind of buddy cop camaraderie not seen since the eighties. It’s essential nineties nostalgia and pure escapism.

Finally, a funny female-led cop film. Melissa McCarthy is loud and foul-mouthed while Sandra Bullock is strait-laced and uptight. Pair them up, set them on the trail of a drug lord, and sit back and laugh at the seriouslyimprov.entertaining

Fast forward three decades, The Roses are reinvented for the twentyfirst century by Austin Powers and Meet The Parents director Jay Roach, with two of Britain’s biggest stars leading the charge.

Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch take on the roles of a married couple who, quite simply, want to kill each other.

If you don’t know the story, let’s catch up: The Roses, in this case Theo and Ivy, once happily married, find their relationship breaking down as their lives take different paths. What begins as a divorce soon escalates into all-out war, with each

partner determined to tear the other down in the most outrageous – and hilarious – ways possible.

It’s a return to gritty, fast-paced street-level storytelling after The Whale, delivering yet another unflinching dive into the darkest corners of human nature, with a timely dose of black comedy to boot.
