Welcome to the Summer edition of Wirral Well Being magazine Laura Seymour Editor/creator There is a reason why we all feel happier and healthier in the summer. The sunshine and warm weather literally changes our posture, bodies and brains. The summer soothes our souls and senses, so lets lap up the vitamin D which plays an important role in warding off depression and easing anxiety. It regulates the sleep hormone melatonin and helps to produce serotonin that improves our mood and makes us feel good. Studies show we immerse ourselves in nature, we exercise more, relax and recover from holidaying or taking breaks, we have more opportunities to socialize. What is not to love about the summer? My advice is to get out there and soak up the fresh air and sunshine while you can. This time our Wirral Well- being Award goes to The Open Door Charity for their outstanding work supporting young people and young adults with mental health. You all do an amazing job!

Laura Pearson is a Chartered Financial Planner who runs her own Financial Planning firm based on the Wirral and servicing clients across Merseyside and Cheshire. Laura is one of the most highly qualified Financial Advisers in the UK and helps her clients with all aspects of financial planning whether it be planning, saving and investing for their future and retirement, protecting their family and businesses or ensuring that they get the best mortgage options available or can release equity from their home. Lauras team at Storeton Rose have a particular mission to cut through the jargon of financial matters and empower people to make decisions that will positively affect their financial future through straightforward, no nonsense financial planning and wealth management. Laura is passionate about making sure that her advice and guidance doesn’t just reach the wealthy but is accessible to everybody and is engaged in delivering financial wellbeing sessions to organisations and businesses free of charge in the local community. She currently looks after the employees at NHS Merseycare, HMRC Liverpool, some local small businesses and some larger London based firms who’s HR teams see the benefit of educating their employees in their finances and recognise the importance that financial wellbeing plays in the overall wellbeing of their employees. We asked Laura what financial wellbeing means and why she’s on a mission to help.
finances and quite often don’t know where to turn for support. This has a serious detrimental effect on their mental health which we know in turn affects physical health and causes more people to take time off work or to be unproductive if they are at work as they simply have too much on their mind to focus on the task at hand. For this reason, I believe that it’s a key responsibility of employers to help their employees access education and planning about finances so that we can ease their worries and give them the help that they need to feel back in control. We run a series of sessions usually in the form of webinars which focus on real tangiable ways of gaining control of your finances such as ‘how to improve your credit report’, ‘when to save and when to invest’, ‘how to ensure you are making the most of the tax benefits offered by the government to help grow your savings and investments for the future’, ‘how to ensure you will receive the maximum state pension when you get there and how to know if this is going to be enough’.
Financial Wellbeing to me is feeling comfortable, secure, confident and at ease with your finances. It means being able to understand and manage your money both today and in the future so that managing your money does not cause mental or physical health problems. There is a very recent report produced by WageStream called the State of Financial Wellbeing – The UK Workplace Report 2022 which states:-
We have fantastic feedback from these sessions and would encourage any employers or organisations locally who feel their employees could benefit from this to get in touch via our website www.storetonrose.co.uk or to give us a call on 0151 452 1654 where we would be more than happy to help.

BENEFITS OF FLOAT THERAPY I am not going to lie to you, I have always wanted to try a floatation tank experience, but like most was a little apprehensive. I still felt slightly nervous getting into the pod even though the staff were amazingly helpful and reassuring. Fear not within a few minutes I was completely at peace and entering a blissfully weightless carefree state of mind and I can’t wait to do this again. I fully recommend this experience and the benefits are simply wonderful, so if its something you have never considered maybe here are a few reasons why. • • • • • • • •
Mental Health Muscular relaxation Chronic pain relaxation Improves recovery Reduces fatigue Brain health Sleep and relaxation Skeletal alignment
What is it? “The pinnacle of relaxation. Let your stresses, aches and pains float away.” This is the incredibly relaxing experience of weightlessness, which provides multiple health benefits in our state-ofthe-art pod. How does it work? You may also have heard of this experience as “sensory deprivation.” Our pod contains half a ton of Epsom salt dissolved in 12 inches of water. The high levels of salination provide health benefits and allows you to float effortlessly. The ambient temperature of the air and water is the same as that of your skin. The pod is dark inside and insulated to minimise sound. However, some of our customers prefer
ambient lighting and gentle meditative music. All of this can be introduced to enhance your experience. Simply let us know on consultation. The minimisation of external sensory input allows the body and mind to relax in a much deeper way than you are likely to have ever experienced consciously. This deep relaxation has multiple benefits. The experience lasts for 60 minutes with a comprehensive consultation prior to your first experience or a refresher consultation for frequent users. There will also be 10 minutes of relaxing music helping you relax; 45 minutes of silence and then 5 minutes of music towards the end of your float. This will signal the ending of your experience. The experience or treatment is tailored to your specific needs. You therefore have full control of the lighting and music (if required). You can also decide if you want to fully close the pod, leave it slightly open or have it completely open. It is entirely up to you. The Float Room is completely private and equipped with a shower, and high-quality toiletries supplied by Deborah Alfa Hair & Beauty. You also have full use of the private relaxation room. The relaxation room has a selection of tea’s and bottles of water to refresh you after your float. There is also a mirror and hairdryer for your use. Alternatively, you can relax in our waiting area, where we stock additional complimentary drinks. Why not add one of the special packages to make the experience even more special. I myself have a few birthdays coming up and can not wait to book the experience for friends and family so come along to Brimstage and give it a try for yourself www.alfaadvance. co.uk 0151 342 5903

HOW TO DEAL WITH THE BEHAVIOURS YOU FIND CHALLENGING- THE NUCLEUS PROBLEM Ok so here is the thing- when dealing with behaviours that we find challenging, we have to focus on what I call ‘The Nucleus Problem’ to make any progress moving forward. Often- in the classroom and at home it goes like this… The behaviour is what we can see. The problem is what we often do not know. We attempt to address the initial behaviour or attitude, which then leads to further behaviours and attitudes and this then all becomes a bit mashed up – we end up talking about why the toys were thrown out of the pram so to speak which leads us further away from the root causeThe Nucleus Problem- where it all started. Sound familiar? Yes- me too- and this goes for ALL age groups! What to do? Remember this… The behaviours are less relevant than the problem. Yes, the more extreme the behaviours we experience are, the more work that clearly needs to be done by way of supporting emotional regulation, understanding and communication- this is something you can plan to do on a daily basis through regular support- but getting to the root of the problem is the key to really addressing the behaviour! How? Time, space, love, trust, respect, empathy and consistency. Time and space – when the initial behaviour has been addressed, which will then likely lead to secondary behaviours ( slamming the door on the way out of the room for example)- leave them. Make sure they are safe but give them time and space to ride out the emotions and give yourself time and space to regulate and ensure your next move is calm and considered. This will also support consistency.
Love and trust – take time to build relationships, yes, even if you are a parent! This doesn’t always come naturally, relationships of any nature take time and effort. Delve into their world regularly and make it a daily habit- simple questions as they pass that show you care about them and their life and experiences, sitting down for a couple of minutes to talk a bit of rubbish, a smile, a fist bump, a high five, a hug….whatever, just take time to show a genuine interest- this is what someone once described to me as l ‘building tokens’ and what I now understand as building relationships. Respect – like it or not, gone are the days of ‘children should be seen and not heard’, ‘speak when you are spoken to’, ‘respect your elders’. The bottom line is, to earn respect then give respect, show respect, be respectful. Speak to your children and young people how you expect to be spoken to- no matter what! If you spend all day every day yelling at or speaking to the little people around you like dirt then guess what, relationships won’t form because there is little or no respect developed and the likelihood is they will end up speaking to you in the same way and then chaos erupts- Monkey See Monkey Do remember! Empathy – spend time genuinely delving into their world to genuinely understand it more- then you are more likely to develop a genuine empathy for what they are going through. The fact is- if you know why little Jonny is flipping a table when he walks in the room, or little Mary keeps poking her little brother in the face, then human nature dictates that you are going to react in a calmer and more empathetic way to the behaviour- because you know The Nucleus Problem. Consistency – at home and in school, consistency is key. Children and young people feel safer when they know what to expect- good or bad. This is why all of the other key components I have discussed are so important- because when they are all at play, the consistency comes easier- you have a plan. Be consistent in your approaches- don’t suddenly go massively overboard with consequences and sanctions because you are angry and are acting on emotion (see time and space section for more on this), take the time you both/all need and address the root cause together- and keep doing it! Talk to your children, create systems that tell them and show them in an age appropriate way that you see them, you hear them, and even if you cannot get to them right now, you will get to them with your time, love, empathy and attention as soon as you can. Get to the heart of the issue, the root of the matters- find out The Nucleus Problems, support them with them- then watch the magic happen! www.jcwellbeingsupport.co.uk

PHYSICAL, MENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS COLUMN My name is Darren Holmes, I am a Military Veteran and the founder of the Kaizen Mindset UK- Wirral Wellness Platform, The Blended Approach to Physical, Mental Health & Wellness, and I am delighted once again to contribute some of my work with the Wirral Wellbeing Magazine. It is my mission to assist, educate & inspire as many people as I can, on their own journey to stressless wellbeing & happiness, via Mental health awareness, Cognitive behavioural therapy, Neuro linguistic programming, Mindfulness and the Routes & Dimensions of Wellness. Life is all about Choices! every single decision we make, we have a choice, we can choose positive behaviours, we can choose negative behaviours, but we always have a choice, well that is in most circumstances! We don’t get to choose when we are ill (physically or mentally) but it could be debated that we certainly had the opportunities, to make better choices in the build up to illness. It’s a cliché but it’s a good one! Make time for your wellness or be forced to make time for your illness. We also rarely get to choose the time and date we leave this planet, that is generally a mystery known only to our maker, but we can make daily choices that may well negate an early departure. The Choice gap is that little bit of white space between either answering a question or making an impactful physical decision, perhaps taking a short deep breath to manage your verbal response in a more professional and less emotive way (Transaction Analysis) or applying the brakes in your car as you approach a junction, and your intuition or instinct just knows there is potential danger around that next corner ( Safety cues). Every single being on this planet has a state, and that state can be ever changing, we can be in a state of euphoria perhaps following the birth of a child, we can be in a state of distress after losing a loved one! But we are certainly always in a state of X Y or Z, if were in a happy resourceful state then looking at your own Routes & Dimensions of wellness should show patterns of good choices ( your choice gaps have been well administered) however let’s face it were all human, none of us are perfect, and we can’t always make perfect choices 24/7, however if and when you find yourself confronted with a decision to make, then just allow yourself to breath into that little bit of white space called the choice gap and ask yourself what impact will my decision have on, myself, my family, my environment, my integrity, my reputation and then, and only then make that choice a good one. Over the last 5 years my choices have been less alcohol, more exercise, less processed food, more nutritious whole foods, less fizzy drinks, more water, less Netflix, more Meditation, less reactivity, more responsiveness, less disassociation, more engagement, less tv, more reading, less distraction, more education, and every single one of these decisions started with a choice gap, what will you choose differently to do today.

In my last article I gave you a graphic called the Routes to Wellness, these are mostly physical in nature, as you must take, and make physical decisions, choices to get them implemented into your life. In this issue I am giving you the Dimensions of Wellness graphic, and just like the Routes, I would invite you to assess all eight of your dimensions, starting with what ever dimension is the easiest decision, choice to assess. The Physical Dimensions aren’t simply exercise! We require physical movement to go to the Doctors or the Dentist, we require the doctor to check our genitals, the dentist to check if we require fillings or maybe even vice versa depending on how close you are to them, lol. Ladies you must check your breasts for lumps & bumps and fellas you must check your testicles for the same, it’s not only our genitalia that we must check on a regular basis, if it doesn’t feel right, look right or smell right than make a good choice, don’t leave any physical symptoms unchecked, again it’s the choice gap, only you can choose.
Please utilise our free resource at www.kaizen-mindset. co.uk for more information about each individual Dimension of Wellness, you will also find lots of tips, strategies, models and capacity building options. If you’re approaching the age of menopause, you may be unsure, or even a little fearful, of what to expect. The idea of menopause has long held negative connotations in our society, largely tied to stigmas of aging, but the transition to menopause can be a time of reflection and inspiration. It’s a normal and natural part of a woman’s life, and a period of life that can be just as well lived as earlier stages. Menopause is a time of great change and it’s definitely a time of choice and should really be about finding out what you want. The attitude with which you embark upon this transition can have a tremendous impact on your experience of it, as well as on your choice of behaviors. Many of the changes that come with menopause and aging aren’t avoidable, but how you experience menopause and the years that follow has much to do with your attitude. Far from being the end of life, you may find menopause to be a new beginning, one that can be lived richly, fully, and in good overall health. Knowing the spectrum of what’s a normal experience may help ease your concerns and help you to prepare for what’s to come. The following tips can help you transform your menopause experience. Watch Your Thoughts There is growing evidence that the absence of positive thoughts has a greater negative impact on our health and well-being than does the presence of negative ones. Make Time for Yourself Exercise, eat right, and incorporate relaxation techniques into your day. This practice moves you out of the stress response, which is harmful to our health. When women actually make themselves a priority (even 15 minutes a day), dramatic changes can occur. Stay Connected Social support is key to health and can even help you live longer. It is one of the first pieces of advice women share.

BEING
Stay in the Moment Try to be mindful (aware and present) of each moment of your life. This practice prevents you from worrying about the future (often fraught with anxiety) or dwelling on the past (often tinged with regret). Combine positive thoughts, a healthy lifestyle, and relaxation techniques. Laugh Laughter brings us closer to people, moves us into more positive mind-sets, can stimulate our immune system, enhance our learning and memory, and help us cope better with the stressors in our lives. Laughter is a great menopause help. Any woman who has ever experienced menopause hot flushes thought to be caused by decreased estrogen levels affecting the sensitivity of the hypothalamus knows that they can be embarrassing and frustrating. But like any menopause symptom, they are often unavoidable, and the more menopausal women can laugh at those sudden onslaughts of body heat the better their days will go. As with any uncomfortable issue, solidarity is everything, so take heart from some of the funny stories offered by women who have suddenly melted in public. One woman writing into the “Miss Conduct” column at The Boston Globe, shared a vulnerable moment when a menopause hot flash hit her while she was interviewing for a job. Miss Conduct gave her astute advice about how to deal with that unexpected flash don’t pretend it didn’t happen and do your best to put those around you at ease. “Unless you’re with lady friends, don’t make selfdeprecating jokes”, she advised. “Then take a deep breath, a sip of water, and dab your forehead with a well-ironed handkerchief of excellent quality, perhaps monogrammed. Learn how to do this with deliberation and ease, allowing it to be a moment when everyone else can quickly check their smartphones, blow their noses, or organize their own thoughts. A moment that enhances your authority, rather than undermining it.”
MAKE YOUR MENOPAUSE
MORE POSITIVE
The Menopause Goddess Blog sponsored a contest in spring 2014 for best hot flush and several of the funny stories took place during work settings. The winner, Edwinna Margheim, experienced an intense menopause hot flash one day as she was working in the admissions office of her local community college. At the time her temperature spiked, one of the college’s IT guys was there training employees on some new software. “As I was sitting at my desk entering grades, I leaned back and groaned, ‘Oh my God… power surge!’ as I began to have a hot flash!” she shared. “The IT guy jumped out of his chair and ran over to me saying ‘Where? Did you lose the data? What’s going on?!’ I wasn’t sure I would ever stop laughing.” Another entry, from Theresa Venus, remembered the day she was the only woman in a meeting about an important real estate transaction. As she helped negotiate points between a contractor, a cabinet builder and a high energy buyer, she was overcome by an intense flash. Starting with that deep down warning glow, the heat spread faster than the Angora wildfire throughout every molecule of my body. It was intense and before I knew it, try as I might, I couldn’t make out what was being said. I saw their lips move and then I saw a look of bewilderment on their faces. Soon – all eyes were on me. Finally, what sounded like Darth Vader, a voice said, “Are you alright?” Guess what intelligent words spouted from my lips? ‘“I MUST TAKE OFF MY CLOTHES!”’ Those men grabbed their clipboards and ran like hell. But Remember ladies from our Autumn edition all is not lost, the benefits of red clover significantly reduce hot flushes/flashes.

PATRIOTIC PARTY TO MARK THE MOMENTOUS 70 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF QUEEN ELIZABETH’S REIGN The sun shone on Heatherfield House in Claughton last Friday 3rd June as 100 guests gathered to celebrate the historic Platinum Jubilee and raise a glass to HM The Queen. The property - which is home to Drew Cockton, founder of luxury fragrance and lifestyle brand, Owen Drew, held host to a lavish patriotic party to mark the momentous 70 year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. Guests gathered in the property’s walled garden to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment with performances from Merseyside-based singers Kelly Bond and John Witherspoon before a flag-waving finale of patriotic anthems was lead by The Northern Sopranos. “This celebration really was a ‘once in a lifetime’ event” Drew told Wirral Well-being Magazine “My partner and I decided to go ‘all out’ and create something truly special for our guests” Red, white and blue bunting and vintage festoon lights bedecked the length of the 200ft marquee with an enormous installation at the entrance by award-winning florists Red Floral Architecture wowing guests on entry. Quirky finishing touches such as antique suitcases and grammar phones, as well as a giant deckchair and a vintage bicycle ensured guests had plenty of photo opportunities on the day. “It was like a mini Proms in the Park” Drew says. “Everyone was dressed in red, white and blue, sharing picnics, waving flags and singing anthems like Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory. It is a day that I and many others won’t forget”. As if organising parties like this isn’t keeping him busy enough, Drew is set to relaunch his business Owen Drew in the coming weeks following on from investment received on BBC One Dragons’ Den. He says that a top London-based creative agency have redesigned the brand’s logo, packaging and entire aesthetic to make it ready for pitching to premium department stores. MEDITATION FOR LOVING KINDNESS We spend our lives selfishly controlled by what buddhists call the ‘Eight Worldly Concerns’. These are basically a set of four opposing states; Pleasure and Pain, Gain and Loss, Praise and Blame, Fame and Disrepute. We always seek one and try our best to avoid the other. Loving kindness meditation is a technique for developing respect and acknowledging the beings around us. It uses visualisation to develop our feelings of love, kindness and compassion for ourselves and others. Let’s begin the meditation: Settle yourself into a comfortable sitting position. Spend a few minutes calming the mind, by bringing your awareness to the breath don’t force the breath, just breath naturally, become aware of the sensation of breathing. Reflect that all beings, just like you, wish to be happy and free from suffering. Picture just in front of you, at the level of the crown of your head, a ball of pure white light. This ball of light has all the qualities of loving kindness, wisdom and peace. It has the ability to purify all the negative traits, of anger, hatred, fear, anxiety. Really believe that this ball of white light has these qualities and has the ability to free all beings from their problems. Now visualise that from this ball of light, a ray of light comes to the crown of your head. Visualise this ray of light now entering the crown of your head and slowly working down through the body filling your body with white light.
This white light moves down through your head, neck, shoulders, down through the body slowly purifying you, pushing out your negative habits, your anger, hatred, fear, anxiety. And beneath you a crack in the ground appears and then negative habits leave you in the form of dirty liquid. Then imagine the crack in the ground closing, and really believe, that you have been purified of all your negative habits. Now, going back to the ball of light itself, imagine it comes to the crown of your head dissolving through the crown of your head and moving down through your head, ...your neck, ...and on down, coming to rest at your heart. The ball of light dissolves at your heart and spreads out in all directions throughout your body. Your body becomes completely filled with this white light. Really feel this, really believe it. Now with the strong wish to free all sentient beings from their problems, visualise rays of white light going out in all directions from your body. As these rays of light touch any beings, feel that they are purified of all their negative habits and given happiness and peace of heart. Push this light out as far as you can. A never-ending source of light with the power to free all beings from their problems, to endow them with loving kindness and peace of heart. Slowly bring the light back to you, until once again you have a ball of pure white light resting at your heart. But as you do so, it in no way takes away any help that you have been able to give those countless beings. Think that all the problems, negativities, and hindrances of all others and you have completely vanished, and that you have reached a state of calm, wholeness and perfection. Just let your mind rest in this feeling of being serene and joyful. If any thought or distracting object should appear in your mind, let it just dissolve into the white light at your heart. Rest in this feeling. When your ready finish the meditation. Wishing You Peace and Happiness Bill Seymour - Buddhist

POIGNANT EVENT RETURNS TO STANLEY PARK AFTER THREE YEARS AS RUNNERS UNITE TO REMEMBER THE 97 The eighth annual Run For The 97 5K returned to Stanley Park last weekend for what was a poignant, emotional, and uplifting event (Saturday 21 May). Just over 1,000 participants donned specially designed yellow T-shirts carrying the number 97 as they walked, jogged and run to remember The 97, completing either a 5K fun run or 1 Mile for youngsters. The event was last staged in 2019 due to the pandemic, so all involved were delighted to once again come together. Official charities for the 2022 event are Jamie Carragher’s 23 Foundation, LFC Foundation, Everton in the Community, and Stanley Park junior parkrun – all support the vision of creating a legacy to honour The 97 while ensuring local communities benefit through their work. First staged in 2015, the community legacy event was created to celebrate and honour the lives of the then 96 Liverpool Football Club fans lost in the Hillsborough tragedy. It also remembers the families and survivors, who have since tirelessly fought for justice with the utmost dignity. Run For The 97 now also honours Liverpool FC fan Andrew Devine, who sadly passed away in July 2021. Andrew received life-changing injuries at Hillsborough, he died 32 years after the disaster. Special guests included former Liverpool Football Club players Jamie Carragher, David Fairclough, Chris Kirkland, and Sammy Lee; Hillsborough family members Margaret Aspinall, Sue Roberts and Steve Kelly; Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram; and mammoth charity fundraiser Everton fan Speedo Mick real name Michael Cullen. Jamie Carragher from the 23 Foundation explained: “Run For The 97 is brilliant. It’s perfectly situated in Stanley Park between our two great football clubs. We’re all out in force to remember The 97, everyone gets involved – Reds and Blues. The calls for a Hillsborough Law are vital, taking the story into schools and educating our young people about what happened and why it happened – it’s just so important our future generations are taught about it.” Speedo Mick added: “It’s a fantastic event, Everton and Liverpool fans all joining together – that’s what is fantastic about this city. I just love being from Liverpool.” Dennis Adelsberg was the most senior runner on the day. The 92-year-old from West Lancashire runs for Skelmersdale Boundary Harriers. He took part and ran the 5K route with Speedo Mick. Overseas runners travelled to the city from Australia, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Northern Ireland, Poland, Thailand, and the USA. Reds and Blues stood side by side as football club anthems, Liverpool FC’s You’ll Never Walk Alone and Everton

FC’s Z Cars were played as runners gathered before the fun, with everyone taking part in a minute’s applause to remember The 97. The 5K runners crossed the start line to the sound of The Justice Collective’s cover of The Hollies’ classic He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother – the song which unites Liverpool and Everton and shows the solidarity of the Red and Blue sides of the city. Youngsters running in the 1 Mile started to the sound of The Farm’s Altogether Now. Everyone taking part was presented with a special Run For The 97 commemorative medal. A regular on match days at Anfield and Goodison, Fans Supporting Foodbanks were grateful for generous donations of food items to help vital work in the community to support families. The event was supported by volunteers teams representing Everton in the Community; LFC Foundation; Liverpool Running Bugs; and members of the Merseyside running community. To date, Run For The 97 has helped to raise more than £35,000 for good causes in the city. Funds raised through this year’s event – either through runners being sponsored or one-off donations to support the charities – have already surpassed the £4,000 mark. All monies raised will be split equally between the four official charities to support vital community outreach programmes. The official Just Giving online donation page can be found at https://justgiving.com/campaign/runforthe97 Full details on BTR Liverpool’s social media channels and website of all donations. Runners unable to attend in person on event day took part virtually. Virtual places are still available, email alan@ btrliverpool for more details. As well as runners across the UK, virtual runners also took part overseas. Virtual runners were sent their run number and medal, and they have submitted images to be used in an online gallery to showcase the reach of Run For The 97 across the world. BTR Liverpool organise and deliver Run For The 97. BTR Liverpool is the leading independent organisation for creating, managing and delivering headline running events across Liverpool City Region. The RFT97 entry fee pays to stage and deliver all aspects of the event including run numbers, T-shirts and medals, and event day facilities. The date of next year’s Run For The 97 will be announced following the confirmation of the Premier League Season 2022/2023 football fixtures. Website: www.btrliverpool.com

Here’s how… Helps improve skin’s hydration Helps improve skin’s texture Supports appearance of firmer skin Helps maintain healthy skin When we are infants, cellular turnover takes place in 3-5 days, hence where the saying, “as smooth as a baby’s skin” comes from! Once we reach our teens, this process slows down a bit, and takes around 21 days. As we continue to age, cell turnover slows down more and more, and by the time we reach our forties, the skin renewal process can take up to 60 days! From our fifties and beyond, it can take up to 90 days for the cell turnover cycle to occur. As the skin renewal process gets slower and slower, dead skin cells accumulate on the skin’s surface. As this build-up continues, our skin structure begins to collapse, causing, you guessed it, more wrinkles! And because new cell production has slowed down and decreased, skin becomes uneven, dull, and rough-textured. So why not try adding a marine collagen that tastes great to your daily routine and notice the difference in as little as 15-30 days? Forever Marine Collagen has a berry flavour that you can conveniently drink right from the sachet. These easy and convenient 15ml sachets are also perfect for taking with you on the go! Additionally, black pepper extract, goji berries and green tea extract, along with vitamins C and A will help to contribute to the normal formation of collagen in your body AND Zinc and biotin will play a role in the maintenance of skin, bones, hair and nails. If you’re looking to add collagen to your daily skincare and beauty routine, don’t just grab any product off the store shelf. Choose the more efficient, bioavailable form with Forever Marine Collagen.

EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE What is resilience?
Emotional resilience is the ability to adapt to stressful situations, and cope with life's ups and downs. Resilience does not eliminate stress or erase life's difficulties, but allows you to tackle or accept problems, live through adversity and move on with life… Emotional resilience is a coping mechanism that helps individuals to manage high-pressure, stressful situations. Sometimes described as ‘inner strength’, being emotionally resilient means that you can adapt to distressing or stressful situations, rebounding from these challenges afterwards feeling stronger for doing so. Whilst being empathetic is, of course, a vital part of our life, it can also prove exhausting and draining. Being emotionally resilient helps us support others without taking any more stress or sadness upon ourselves. However, this isn’t a catch-all situation. Being emotionally resilient doesn’t involve simply dismissing distress or sadness: instead, it’s about learning to adapt and rebound, emerging better equipped to deal with similar situations in the future. Essentially, emotional resilience teaches you to combine empathy with a thicker skin that will let you weather the worst emotional storms that you will face in your lifetime. There are also techniques that we can use and engage ourselves in to build up our emotional strength. Practicing techniques like mindfulness have been proven to have a strong positive effect, especially as people who use it for more than eight weeks experience a 15% reduction in their stress hormone levels. Just by keeping a diary where we can write down and quantify different thoughts and feelings. This can start the process of better understanding how to cope with those emotions which will help develop emotional awareness
Life may not come with a map, but everyone will experience twists and turns, from everyday challenges to traumatic events with more lasting impact, like the death of a loved one, a life-altering accident, or a serious illness. Each change affects people differently, bringing a unique flood of thoughts, strong emotions and uncertainty. Yet people generally adapt well over time to life-changing situations and stressful situations in part thanks to resilience. Psychologists define resilience as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems, or workplace and financial stressors. As much as resilience involves “bouncing back” from these difficult experiences, it can also involve profound personal growth. While these adverse events, much like rough river waters, are certainly painful and difficult, they don’t have to determine the outcome of your life. There are many aspects of your life you can control, modify, and grow with. That’s the role of resilience. Becoming more resilient not only helps you get through difficult circumstances, but it also empowers you to grow and even improve your life along the way. Here at Be Well learning we have developed a four-hour Emotional Resilience and wellbeing course. It allows participants to learn about resilience and the effects stress has on well-being. Through a series of exercises and activities you will increase awareness, recognise early warning signs and learn how to manage your own levels of risk. Delegates will development an understanding of how marginal gains can build to greater wellbeing and emotional resilience. The role of mindfulness in stress reduction will be considered and participants will be supported in practical ways of incorporating mindfulness into their everyday lives. All learners will receive a toolkit which includes wellbeing actives, stress container, life wheel, marginal gain, a selfcare takeaway menu and 10 keys to happier living. Exciting news last year 2021, we were nominated for best independent nursery retailer in the UK. In other news, we are currently re-arranging the store to make room for the new clothing collections by Email et Rose beautiful British design that all comes gift boxed and will make the perfect gift along with Magnolia Baby which is 100% cotton to regulate baby temperate (as they cannot when first born) and of course super soft for their gorgeous skin. Our new ride on toys by Peg-Perego are going down a storm with the toddlers from 2 years plus as are our beautiful wooden toys by Orange Tree Toys. We have also added to our Peter Rabbit collection of gifts and Paddington bear collection. See you all in store soon. We believe Buying the right products for your unborn child should be a fun an enjoyable experience at this most special time in your lives. So if you're looking for the care and attention you deserve at this amazing time, then pop into our showroom. The store was originally located in Moreton on the Wirral, then moved to larger premises in Hoylake 17 years ago, Its is now run by Ian and Sharon son and daughter of Joan and Anthony the founders all those years ago. Sadly Anthony passed away on November 1st 2012 leaving Ian in charge. This was obviously a very upsetting time on all the family and has given us some time to reflect on the what the family and store has been over the years. Joan although semi retired, can usually be found around somewhere talking to customers or just chatting away, too well really anyone that will listen lol, some of which are our second or third generation, and to all of you we thank you for all you valued custom and recommendations over the years. So now a new chapter for Babylicious is about to continue! Having a baby is all about product knowledge. By coming into a smaller independent store as first time parents you can learn so much more than just reading reviews and blogs etc and who won what in which competition or magazine or going into larger competitors who usually only know their own ranges or market leading brands. This
is an ever changing industry with new technologies and safety standards out every year! What might seem like a bargain might not be at all!!Here at Babylicious we are lucky to have Ian, who has grown up within the nursery industry and has been asked to be on the BPA (Baby Products association) committee and is the only committee member from a independent store out of 10 member from all sectors of the nursery industry.he has no intention of leaving and they have no intention of letting him go his roles entail :To help judge the concept and innovation awards every year, this is a short list compiled down from thousands of applicants with new ideas that will come to market through private finance or investment from within the industry, to bring you the customers the best of what is to have for your children in the future. Most importantly though is his role as a Banta judge. this is where all companies are asked to enter there own products into the awards, to be stringently compared to each other, an be judged by 10 separate ambassadors for the industry, as to what is the best within the industry. With this insight Ian is always shopping two years ahead of what is coming to market in the future, and has helped many companies come to sell there products within the UK. With the advancements in carseat technology within the past two years its very exciting what is ahead in this sector particularly for 2022/23. We hope you will use this information as a guide, and follow us on Facebook in the future to see what you can expect! It's going to be a very interesting and eye-catching year for all of us. Thank you for reading this description of where we place our store within the market palace, we will of course answer questions you may have to the best of our abilities. Shop now online www.babylicious.org and don’t forget to follow us on facebook and instagram or come down and meet us at the shop, always a warm welcome.
