Welcome to Mountview's Summer Season

Founded in 1945, Mountview is one of the UK’s leading drama schools with 400 students studying on foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our vocational training covers all aspects of theatre arts including acting, musical theatre, actor musicianship, theatre direction, creative producing, writing musicals, musical direction and theatre production arts. Courses are validated by University of East Anglia and accredited by Drama UK. Coming up this summer we have a great range of courses for adults and young people looking to

sharpen their performance or backstage skills and to get a taste of Mountview life. Find out all about the courses on offer and about free places available to Haringey residents on pages 10 - 13.

We produce 28 public productions in theatres across London and the south east each year but couldn’t do this without your ongoing help as audience members and supporters. To find out more about how you can help us continue to provide the finest theatre arts training please see page 9.

Firebrand playwright Philip Ridley has teamed up with director Max Barton under commission from Mountview to create a new play exploring disenfranchised youth, the current global crisis and the fractured ways stories can be told. Staged as an immersive journey through The Ditch at Shoreditch Town Hall this is an exploratory, surprising and unmissable event.

This new play by Philip Ridley was commissioned by Mountview.

Ridley and Barton most recently worked together on the critically acclaimed production of Piranha Heights, nominated for Best Production, Best Director and Best Set Designer at the Off West End Awards in 2014.

In this story is a talking leopard, a greedy king, a magical bird, a sea witch, a lost soldier, a devious dolphin, a war… and a trail of feathers in the snow. This is a magical story suitable for all the family about finding a home.

Ed Stambollouian’s directing credits include Joe Lycett: Live at the Apollo (BBC), Wedding (Shoreditch Town Hall) and Blacktop Sky (Talawa Studio). He has assisted on some of the UK’s most acclaimed productions in recent years including The Pride, The Hothouse and Macbeth (Trafalgar Studios), The Merry Wives of Windsor (RSC) and The Lion in Winter (Theatre Royal Haymarket).

One of the world’s best-loved musicals, packed with hits (Beauty School Dropout, Summer Nights, You’re the One that I Want), this is the perfect show to start your summer.

Jeremy divides his time between acting and directing and is a regular director at Mountview on shows including The Wedding Singer, My Fair Lady and Me And My Girl. Other directing projects include Sweet Revenge (Tabs Productions), Carousel (Landor Theatre/Almost Normal) and London Omnibus (This Stage Ltd/RADA Studios).

Mountview’s Musical Theatre students present this theatrical biography of Mary Shelley, one of history’s most acclaimed female writers. The play is an epic sweep through Shelley’s life from the 16-year-old living with anarchist father William Godwin to her meeting Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley and the consequences of their love affair.

Sally Ann Gritton is the Head of Undergraduate Acting and Musical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Other directing credits include The Great Theatre of the World (Royal Festival Hall) and The War is Dead, Long Live the War in collaboration with James Dean Bradfield (ICA & tour).

Four friends vow to steer clear of girls while they concentrate on their studies at an all-boys' college. But temptation soon arrives in the shape of a blue-stocking princess and her pals at the neighbouring girls' school. Will the boys be able to resist or will love conquer all? This production of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy is infused with classic 70's songs and will tour to the Shakespeare Festival at Germany’s Globe Theatre in Neuss.

Stephen Jameson is the Principal and Artistic Director of Mountview.

His Mountview directing credits include Dreaming America, The Producers and Curtains. Stephen was previously Associate Director at LAMDA where he directed over 70 productions.

Support us We not only provide world-class vocational training for the actors, musical theatre performers, directors and technical theatre specialists but also work with 300 local children every week, half of whom receive bursaries to enable them to attend.

As an educational performing arts charity, only 30% of our income is supported by public funding though the DaDA scheme. HARINGEY YOUNG PEOPLE’S BURSARIES With generous support from the Tottenham Grammar School Foundation Mountview is able to offer the Haringey Young People’s Bursary Scheme. The scheme provides tuition fee discounts enabling young people from Haringey to attend Mountview's weekend and summer classes.

Each bursary is considered on an individual basis of financial need and different levels of assistance are awarded ranging from 30% to 100% of course fees.
