WELCOME Did you know that Mountview started life at a military base in Sri Lanka at the end of World War II? Our founder Peter Coxhead was told he would be unable to join the Officers’ theatre club, so he set up his own! Upon returning home to London, Peter continued making theatre and training actors. Today Mountview is continuing Peter’s life’s work from a new home in Peckham, and incredibly proud to be celebrating our 75th Anniversary. Mountview has always been spurred on by the desire to broaden access and open doors. In Peckham we have prioritised Southwark Residents via access to bursaries for our hugely popular GENERATION N*XT courses for 6-24 year olds, lower ticket prices for all of our shows and a community rate to hire our brilliant spaces. It has been a joy to welcome so many of our neighbours into our building already and we hope that you will enjoy your visit.

CELEBRATING 75 YEARS In 1945, a 21-year-old Peter Coxhead returned to London from serving in WWII and saw a need for drama training that was accessible to all. He established Mountview, first as a modest ‘theatre club’ in Crouch End, before developing it into one of the country’s most beloved drama schools. Mountview is now a new model of drama school, with world-class training sitting alongside a community programme, offering creative opportunities to people at all stages of life. To build the first Mountview Peter had to borrow £2,300 from his friends, and 75 years on we still rely on our friends’ support and generosity. From workshops for local schools and bursaries for our flagship young people’s programme GENERATION N*XT, to securing scholarships for students, our work is only possible through fundraising. Throughout 2020, we will be celebrating our founder’s legacy whilst looking ahead to Mountview’s future in our new home in Peckham. We look forward to sharing the celebrations with you. Peckham Stories is an original anthology of four short films, featuring an ensemble cast. Spanning comedy and tragedy to deal with romance, crime, domestic violence and peer pressure, the films follow a group of Peckham residents, each facing a pivotal moment in their lives.

Tom Collision is an award winning film, television and theatre writer and director. Amani Zardoe is an award winning writer/director whose work highlights diverse stories with a sociopolitical slant.

Gazpacho, anyone? Based on Pedro Almodóvar's 1988 film, this raucous musical follows the plight of an actress whose lover has left her, setting into motion dizzying complications and farcical comedy in a poignant tribute to female resilience.

Jenny Sawyer has a 35 year career in Musical Theatre as Resident Director on shows such as Ghost, Batman Live and Dirty Dancing to name a few and has directed productions including South Pacific, The Producers and most recently the Australian premiere of Shrek.

Her five rebellious daughters want to find a way out.
