WELCOME In September 2018 we opened the doors of our wonderful new building in Peckham.

More than 12,000 audience members have enjoyed shows in our two theatres in 2019 and 639 young people enrolled in GENERATION N*XT classes, with 40% receiving bursaries to attend. We have hosted numerous local schools and community groups and companies such as Shakespeare’s Globe, Akram Khan Company, Movement Factory and Peckham Can Sing used our world-class facilities. And did you know that Joanna Lumley filmed her BAFTA backstage skits right here in one of Mountview’s TV studios?

In August over 800 aspiring actors flocked into the building to audition for Phantom of the Opera and in October we were proud to work with Underexposed Arts to install six large scale ‘Peckham Portraits’ on Peckham Hill Street. We exhibited the full collection of photographs of leading black actors inside the building and just before Christmas the Peckham Means Business Exhibition showcased the rich community of Rye Lane’s independent traders.

Through 2020 we will stage over 20 shows, with discounted tickets for Southwark Presents card holders and GENERATION N*XT will continue its young peoples’ classes with bursaries for Southwark residents. Brand new for January is the Peckham People’s Playground, a range of adult evening classes that will let you greet the New Year with a new you (turn to page 13 to find out how to try something different for free from 13 Jan- 6 Feb).

All this within our amazing home which has just been shortlisted for The Stage Theatre Building of the Year. We look forward to welcoming you to Mountview soon.

Bruce Guthrie is the Head of Theatre & Film for the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai. Bruce is an awardwinning UK theatre director based in Mumbai. Described as 'One to watch' by The Independent, his work has played in the West End, New York and internationally.

In post-apocalyptic America a group of survivors warm themselves around a fire and try to remember The Simpsons episode based on ‘Cape Fear’. Mr Burns is a darkly humorous play exploring the human capacity for myth-making, how stories are shared and how they sustain us.

Mountview is well served by the Transport for London (TfL) overground train and bus networks. Further information about travel by bus, train or tube can be found on the TfL website.

BUS A huge range of buses stop just outside

TRAIN Peckham Rye station has four services

our building on Peckham Hill Street, with excellent links to major stations and tube stops Elephant & Castle (Northern Line), Vauxhall (mainline rail/Victoria line) and Waterloo. Local buses also go further into south London to destinations including Lewisham, Dulwich and Catford.

TUBE The London Overground (Orange line) leaves every 15 minutes from Peckham Rye and Queens Road Peckham. This line, as well as reaching many neighbourhoods in South West and East London, links to Canada Water (Jubilee Line), Clapham High Street (Northern Line), Whitechapel (District/Hammersmith & City Lines) and Highbury & Islington (Victoria Line). Good bus and mainline rail links also serve the tube.

CYCLING/WALKING Peckham is just three miles from the South Bank making walking and cycling easy options. Surrey Canal Walk runs down the side of our building and into Burgess Park. This links up with cycle paths going into the City and West End via Elephant & Castle.

Cycle racks can be found around Library Square and Peckham Hill Street.

CAR Mountview has very limited parking, which is offered for disabled patrons only. Please call ahead to arrange use of this space. A public pay-and-display car park can be found behind the Aylesham Shopping Centre.

ACCESS Mountview is fully wheelchair accessible. If you have any access seating requirements, we will reserve suitable seating in the auditorium for your needs. You can indicate your requirements when booking tickets online or by emailing boxoffice@mountview.org.uk. Our box office team will contact you to confirm your reserved seats.
