SPRING SEASON 2015

Welcome to Mountview's Spring Season.

Founded in 1945, Mountview is one of the UK’s leading drama schools with 400 students studying on foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our vocational training covers all aspects of theatre arts including performance, direction and theatre production. Courses are validated by University of East Anglia and accredited by Drama UK. Each week around 300 young people from our home borough of Haringey and across north London take part in ENGAGE,

our thriving Saturday and evening creative performance programme, half receiving bursaries for free or reduced-price places. For more information see page 9. Each year we produce 28 public productions in theatres across London and the south east. We couldn’t do this without your ongoing help as audience members and supporters. To find out more about how you can help us continue to provide the finest theatre arts training please see page 11.

With a score including some of Rodgers and Hart’s best loved songs (‘I Could Write a Book’, ‘Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered’), Pal Joey is an American classic. Matt Ryan’s recent productions include Dogfight (Southwark Playhouse), A Catered Affair (Royal Academy of Music), Violet (LSMT), La Cage Aux Folles (Aarhus Theatre, Denmark) and for Mountview: A Winter’s Tale, The York Realist, The Rink and Hello Again.

An unpublished play produced with kind permission from the author.

A group of privileged A Level students are about to finish school. Forever. But before they can take their final exam they must endure two hours of isolation. A Level Playing Field is an unpublished new play by acclaimed playwright, Jonathan Lewis (Our Boys), previewed exclusively at Mountview as a work-inprogress before its professional debut this year.

On 16 April this production will be touring to the University of East Anglia, Mountview's degree-awarding partner. For more info visit mountview.org.uk

Harry Burton’s most recent directing credits include Barking in Essex (Wyndham's Theatre), I Found My Horn (Trafalgar Studios), God of Carnage (Copenhagen) and Parzival (Sharpham House). A Tony Award winning smash hit, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee collects a group of very bright but very awkward kids together in a tense and challenging contest to find the best orthographer in Putnam County. Presented by our final year actors, this musical is heart-warming, hilarious and F-U-N. Darren Lawrence is an accomplished actor and director whose recent acting credits include The Day We Sang (Manchester Royal Exchange). He has worked extensively in some of the UK's leading drama schools and has enjoyed a creative relationship with Mountview for over ten years, most recently directing Spend Spend Spend.
