OF MOUNTIES GROUP Introducing the new CEO of Mounties Group, Dale Hunt. Dale has over 20 years’ club industry experience. As the Former General Manager of the iconic Mounties Group club, Harbord Diggers, Dale was instrumental in leading the considerable redevelopment project that transformed the venue into an award-winning “intergenerational community hub”. He has most recently held the role of Group CEO of Workers Group. President of Mounties Group, Kevin Ingram, is excited to be welcoming Dale back to the Mounties Group family.

ANZAC DAY WRITING COMPETITION
WRAP UP
Mounties is passionate about the need to educate our members and our local youth on the importance of ANZAC Day. As a way to participate in the RSL & Services Clubs Association’s ‘Respect the Day’ campaign, Mounties held an ANZAC Day Creative Writing Competition to encourage students and teachers from local schools to plan, deliver and report on the commemoration of ANZAC Day. The competition included submitting a written essay to ‘Explain and demonstrate the importance of ANZAC Day for you and the community and why ANZAC Day occupies a sacred place in Australians’ hearts.’ Out of the amazing entries, four finalists were then elected to present their piece at the Mounties ANZAC Service on Thursday 25 April 2019.

The finalists ages ranged from just Year 4 through to Year 9. They each did a phenomenal job in presenting and all were awarded the opportunity to attend the prize. Winners of the competition were awarded with a full-day excursion to the War Memorial in Canberra. Each winner was able to bring along up to five friends. annual golf day raises over
$60,000
Mounties Group hosted the annual Charity Golf Day at Liverpool Golf Club on Friday 22 March where board members, management, staff and sponsors brought their ‘A’ game to help raise funds for Kidney Health Australia and 12-year-old Sebastian Aguiar suffering from ROHHAD Disease (Rapid-onset obesity, with hypothalamic dysfunction, hypoventilation and autonomic dysregulation). Mounties Group is honoured to help raise a total of $60,480 with $55,480 donated to Kidney Health Australia, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping people with kidney disease and improving health outcomes for Australians and the local community. Chronic kidney disease is a growing public health issue, with one in every ten adults aged 18 years and over developing signs of the disease at some stage of their life. High blood pressure and diabetes are the two most common causes of the disease. Kidney transplant recipient, Bob Flood who experienced the silent disease first hand, is celebrating 10 years post-kidney transplant this year. “I am grateful to be offered a second chance in life, as a survivor of kidney disease, it is very encouraging to see a local organisation such as Mounties get behind this initiative to help educate the community and raise funds for the cause.” This year, $5,000 of the funds raised from the event will also go towards assisting 12-yearold Bonnyrigg local, Sebastian Aguiar with his fight for life. Sebastian is the only person in Australia living with the rare and life-threatening ROHHAD disease.

Rina Furia, Sebastian’s school teacher who attended the annual Charity Golf Day said it was inspiring to see Mounties help raise awareness about Sebastian’s condition. “It was very touching to see Mounties take a stand for one of its local community members, the overall support on the day from everyone was a very positive experience for Sebastian and his family.” The Mounties community teed up for a full day of fun out on the greens with executives and sponsors, however the day was dedicated to raising funds and awareness for Kidney Health Australia and Sebastian Aguiar. Kevin Ingram, Mounties Group President, said, “Mounties Group is proud to lead the industry in sparking the conversation about improving the kidney health of the local community. We are dedicated to making a difference to the lives of our members, especially local youths, by generating awareness and raising funds to inspire change for the better.” Mounties Group would like to say a special thank you to its sponsors and suppliers who all helped to make the event a great success. WHY DID YOU WANT TO JOIN KOOLOORA LODGE? We have a deep abiding passion for winter in the Australian Alpine, and love to share this with others. A standout factor of Kooloora Lodge is the peaceful setting, yet it still so close to the bustling hive of Perisher resort. We are excited to live snowbound again and love the wildness of living in the heart of winter. Our two boys, Tarn and Jarrah are equally as excited about living in a frozen world again. TELL US WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO BRING TO KOOLOORA LODGE? Together we are highly experienced Lodge Managers with a diverse set of interests and skills. Stuart is known as the WeatherChef. He studied his apprenticeship at the Menzies hotel in Sydney and then went on to 5-star restaurants in Europe and the world. After many years as a travelling, snowboarding/ surfing Chef he decided to focus on his interest in weather and has since obtained a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences, with his passion still in Mountain Weather. A sizzling great Chef delivering a very accurate weather forecast, Stu is a handy guy to have around. Marion is an attentive, welcoming host and an avid desert chef. With a background in hospitality management and an eye for detail, she will ensure your stay to be comfortable. Marion developed a fascination for the Australian alpine area whilst studying

Environmental Science at Newcastle University, she is now a National Park Ranger in the summer. Marion loves to share her Ecological and Botanical knowledge with visitors to the Kosciuszko region. Watch out she may bust out the projector and take you on an virtual tour of the mountains flowers in summer… WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT PERISHER VALLEY? Definitely the wilderness feel, being snowbound is a pretty rare experience in Australia and we are always excited about the opportunity to live remotely for the whole winter. We also love Perisher because of the variety of terrain and areas to ride during a storm and the views on a sunny day are breathtaking. Avid backcountry tourers we are also very excited to have our own private backcountry straight out the lodge door. WHAT EXCITING EVENTS ARE COMING UP THIS SEASON? Some exciting projects include a regular Snow Report delivered by our two sons Tarn (11yrs) and Jarrah (9yrs). They even have a qualified weatherman to help with their forecasts. In September of 2014, India’s Prime Minister proposed the establishment of an International Day of Yoga to promote international peace and cooperation. His request was granted by the United Nations General Assembly in December, 2014 in an effort to highlight the benefits of yoga to physical well-being and to world peace and development.
On 21 June 2015, the first International Day of Yoga was celebrated worldwide, leading to a new Guinness Record for the largest yoga lesson, consisting of just over 100,000 participants, in India’s capital, New Delhi.
