Sports Director's REPORT It’s been another fun, exciting and busy year for our Sub Clubs and its members. Mounties Group takes pride in supporting, building and bettering our community through social and sporting needs.

It was a big task to take over from Lorraine Dean, who was the Sub Club Director for the past 8 years. She did a wonderful job holding the fort and I hope I can achieve the same great work as Lorraine going forward.

the years, without the constant support, efforts and help we would not be where we are today. Thank you to all the coaches, trainers, leaders, volunteers, members and their families who continue to keep our sports alive.

2019 has been a very successful year in sport with numerous Sub Clubs participating in finals and grand finals. Well done to all those who worked hard over the past year, trained and made a commitment to their teams.

On a sad note, I would like to pay my respects to all our dearest members who have been taken too soon by the angels.

Mounties Group Sub Clubs have always been actively involved in several community initiatives and we continue to support programs such as Try Time and new Triglav clubs – Cycling and FE FC Holden Car Club. Welcome to the Sub Club family. We have also continued to help and support Stewart House by donating clothing and sporting equipment from numerous Mounties Group Sub Clubs. We’re very proud to offer our support to such organisations that the community can benefit from. Thank you to all who have been supporting the Sub Clubs over

A WORD FROM OUR CEO Congratulations to all on another amazing year in sport. It’s been another successful year of sport and to all member representing Mounties. It’s great to see our sports creating a sense of camaraderie, mateship and that we are actively connecting people with the community.

Making a positive community contribution is at the heart of Mounties’ operations. Mounties makes a substantial direct contribution to local communities through cash and in-kind donations to a broad range of community activities and initiatives and provides community access to a range of subsidised community and sporting facilities. 2019 has been a pivotal year for Mounties in terms of financial success, a re-focus on members and the way we do business in our local community. With another significant contribution to sport totalling $4.9m. More than half of that amount was spent on grass roots sports played by amateurs and provision of facilities such as sporting fields for local children. We are known for our support for all sports and all playing levels, we continue to focus supporting the many Sub Clubs that make our Club different from the rest. From the very young to the mature, it has been a focus to provide opportunities for all where possible.

Senior Sports Person of the Year Award Robyn Suttor, Athletics Robyn’s start to the 2018/2019 athletics season was at the World Masters indoor Championships in Malaga, Spain, September 2018. I will mention that Robyn was 59 at these Championships which meant that she was still competing against younger competitors. Robyn started the season following knee operations knowing it was going to be a long and tough journey ahead for the season to fulfil her ambition and be the best she can be. Robyn competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 80m short hurdles, 300m long hurdles and the Pole Vault. Robyn didn’t progress to the finals in her events except the Pole Vault where she finished in 7th position. She was very happy with her performances as she was pain free for the first time in a long time. This was the beginning of her journey. Robyn worked hard to build her strength and flexibility. She never gave up. Such an inspiration to everyone, that you can

achieve anything if you really put in the effort and believe in yourself. Robyn is an inspiration to all our athletes and all athletes that she coaches. The NSW Masters Championships were held at Homebush in February 2019. Robyn won Gold in the Pole Vault, and 80m Hurdles (her pet event) Silver in the 400m sprint, and Bronze in the 100m and 200m sprint. A fantastic effort! Her times were improving, but she believed she had more to achieve. Robyn travelled to Toruń in Poland in March to compete at the World Masters Indoor Championships. Robyn competed in the 60m Hurdles, 60m sprint, & 400m. Robyn was running well, and made it through to the final in the 60m (7th) and 60m Hurdles (Silver medal). Her time in the 60m Hurdles and 400m was a new 60+ Mounties Club Record and the fastest time she has recorded since being a Mounties athlete in the 60m Hurdles. A brilliant result! Robyn, as well as being a dedicated athlete, is also passionate about coaching, imparting her wide knowledge and experience to up and coming athletes. Robyn is an ASSA (Academy of Sport Speed Australia) Coach, and currently coaches at SOPAC Homebush, with the intention of putting back into the sport, and building a strong Mounties athletics squad. Robyn is also a fitness expert. Robyn has penned her world of experience into a published book. Mounties Athletics Club believes that Robyn is a deserved candidate for the Mounties Senior Sports Person of the Year 2019.

Fifties Plus Mounties It was another great year filled with trips, adventures, experiences and laughter!

January’19

July’19

We had a relaxing ferry ride on the Saratoga from Woy Woy around to Empire Bay and back, then onto Davidtown RSL for lunch. Peaceful day.

Eryldene Historic House and Garden at Gordon. The house begun in 1913 and didn’t get finished until 1936.

February’19 Kangaroo Valley was our trip this month. After morning tea, we had plenty of time to stroll around the town before heading to Robertson Bowling Club for a wonderful lunch. Heading home we stopped at the Robertson Pie Shop, where lots of different pies were bought.

March’19 Goulburn and its surrounds our trip for this month. The Lavender Farm was closed but we were able to browse the Lavender Shop before heading to Garroorgang Historic Home which is 162 years old. This home has had many lives from Inn, boy’s school finally to a family home for the Belcher/Hume families. A very interesting day. Also, this month, Senior Moments, a 90-minute tongue in cheek comedy regarding seniors. Very funny.

April’19 Saturday Night Fever stage show. Marcia Hines still has a great voice. Great show.

May’19 Gold Coast seven-day holiday. We went to Thursday Plantation at Ballina for lunch. The Outback Spectacular dinner show was another one of our outings. On our third day a scenic coach tour as we headed to Surface Paradise for the Canal Cruise. Next day heading to Maleny, Montville and Sunshine Hinterland. Mary Caincross Park is a Sanctuary of fifty-two hectares of original rainforest. On this trip we saw lots of wonderful places. The Science Museum at Wollongong also happened this month. A fun day where we got to be kids again pushing buttons, turning and pulling levers just to see what they would do.

June’19 Vaucluse House, one of Sydney’s 19th century mansions still surrounded by its original gardens. Bought by William Charles Wentworth. In 1915 became Australia’s first official house museum.

| 2019 Annual Report

September’19 Bowral was our day trip. The day was wonderful for us to stroll around the town and wander through the park and take in the many colours of the tulips and the flowering trees. We stopped at Don Bradman’s museum had a look around before heading to our favorite spot for lunch at Robertson Bowling Club. Once again, stopping at the pie shop before heading home. Another great day. Our club tries to make everyone feel welcome. Holidays can be paid off in installments, making it easier for many people to come along. Anyone wanting to join can ring Dawn Kelly on 0413 041 254. Our meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month, except September due to Father’s Day, starting at 11.30am. We’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Congratulations to all the winners for each of the events during the year! One special note is that we played at Cabramatta on the 1st of October & Pat Knox had a hole in 1 on the 14th hole. The general rule used to be that the person who gets a hole in 1 shouts the bar but alas no free drinks. There are a lot of players who play all their golfing career and never experience getting a hole in one We also play a charity event against Club Italia twice a year and the winners are the chosen charity for that year Our club plays golf every Tuesday at various courses and we would like more people to come and join us the only restriction is that you must be 55years young or older as one of our members who turned 86 the other week and is still out there playing every week.

Our club achieved great results this year from our Netta-ball teams to the competition teams. The 7 and 8 years Netta teams played non-competition games, had lots of fun whilst at the same time learning and improving their basic netball skills with the NetSetGo program. The two 9-year-old teams played full competition rules, although did not officially score (but I am sure all the parents and coaches knew how many goals each team scored) in preparation for competition games in the following year. In the competition teams, from 10-year olds to seniors, 14 out of 20 reaching the semi-final round at the end of the season competition. Of these 14 teams three went directly to the Grand Final and 10 teams played in the Finals. By Grand Final day, which was held on Saturday September 14, there was nine teams competing. A fantastic result from all the teams over the season and congratulations to the five Premiership team with one remaining undefeated. As Premiers the 15A’s were the recipients of the Kath Whiteley Trophy.

We would like to congratulate the following Mounties Netball Club players who represented LCNA at the 2019 NSW State and State Age Netball Championships: ●● 12 Years – 3rd place - Annie Tui ●● 13 Years – 13th place - Unique Pritchard ●● 1 4 Years – 7th place - Tamelanee Tauei, Lindsay Tui and Danielle Dunlop ●● 15 Years – State Champions - Ana Kailahi and Jamin Tikeri ●● 17 Years – 5th place - Anastasia Afoa Anastasia Afoa was voted the Most Talented Player and presented with the Maureen Long Memorial Trophy at the LCNA Representative Dinner and Presentation September 5. Rugby League – Senior Mounties In 2019 we fielded teams in the Canterbury Cup, Ron Massey Cup and Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership.

Our Canterbury Cup team finished the regular season in 6th just one win from a vital top four position. They were unfortunately beaten by Grand Finalist Newtown in a tough game in week 1 of the finals. We had 6 games live on either Fox or Channel Nine giving the club excellent exposure. Our Ron Massey Cup finished in 3rd position and reached the preliminary final getting beat by Minor Premiers Wentworthville in the dying minutes. It capped another strong season at this level for the club.

Our Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership finished with the Minor Premiership before going down in the Grand Final to CRL Newcastle. It was a great season by the girls, and they proved yet again to be a force in this competition. Many thanks to all players and staff for their continued support and commitment to this great club. We look forward to another big season in 2020. #upthemulga

Soccer – Junior Mounties In 2019 Mounties Junior Soccer Club had 42 soccer teams, with over 520 players ranging in age from 4 to 54 years of age. There were 15 small-sided field and mini teams, 7 junior teams, 16 youth teams and 4 senior teams.

Highlights for the year included four teams reaching the semifinal of the Football NSW State Cup – U13-1, U14-1B, U15-1 and U16-1. U14-1B and U13-1 reached the Grand Final, with U13-1 winning the whole comp. This year saw many Mounties teams coming second and not quite securing the Minor Premiership. The exception were U14-2 and the U16-1. The U16-1 won the Minor Premiership by a whopping 13 points and was also able to secure the Premiership, winning the Grand Final in a much closer affair. In all, of 20 competition teams, 17 were in semi-finals and 11 reached the Grand Final, for 5 Premierships. During the year, the U13-1 and U15-1 teams also participated in the Kanga Cup and Bathurst Cup tournaments. Of course, it is not just about winning. Mounties Soccer prides itself on trying to make a team for all players who come to trials and especially those who have not played before. Highlights in this regard were U12-3 and L16-2, as well as a few the mini teams. The Club organised a very experienced professional coach to run training sessions for the parent volunteer coaches. At the end of the season, we also invited our young players to participate in a Mounties Soccer Academy at low cost. Like any sport, if a player improves their skill, they will find it more enjoyable. Overall, it was a successful year on the park for Mounties – but of course we also want to improve and do better, both on and off the park.

table tennis Mounties What a year it has been for Mounties Table Tennis. Commencing with 2019 AGM in February with election of a new executive committee. Suggestions were submitted, voted on & passed to reward Alex Chan Life Membership of MTTC for his long-term contribution to MTTC as treasurer and player. It was also moved and accepted that MTTC life member Lester Vibert be made Patron of MTTC in honor of his many years of steering the ship as president and player of MTTC

This year MTTC have again been able to enter two A grade, one B grade and one C grade team competing in the TTWS Summer and winter Competition with good results for the summer competition as well as in strong position for the winter competition in the company of very strong opposing teams.

After the invitation event followed the Mountied Members Championsip. A huge number of contestants put in their entries for both Single and double play. Winner Sean Dang, runner up Roger Phan. A thrilling match. Double Event was won by Tin Ngo & Xuan Dung Le. Runner Up Quan Nguyen & Roger Pham.

On the home front, news was not so good as our long-time past president Lester Vibert returned to Liverpool Hospital only to lose his second leg. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Coming up on Sunday 6th October in the annual Graded Championships open only to MTTC 2019 financial members. On this note it is extremely pleasant to highlight MTTC 2019 membership which stands at present at 210 paid up members. A rewarding achievement for members of the executive committee, president Steven Doung and secretary Darren Paget.

In the lead up to Mounties Invitation Tournament, MTTC conducted a qualifying table tennis event for MTTC men and ladies’ members with winners offered FREE entry to the invitation tournament. Winner in the Men Section was Sean Dang, and the Ladies event was Yoshika Tran This year for the first time in many years, MTTC were able to field a full complement of players taking part in the Mounties Terry Jackson Shield. Everyone had a great time. July’s Mounties Invitation Tournament again was a great success with assistance of sports director Jenny McNevin and MTTC executive committee supported by a team of MTTC Volunteers, without whom this event could not take place. A great thank you to all involved.

Toastmasters Mounties Mt Pritchard Toastmasters club had a successful year of fun meetings and new members joining.

Toastmasters International rates its clubs on how well they encourage members to pursue their personal public speaking and leadership goals. This year our club was able to achieve President’s Distinguish status, the highest level of recognition available, meaning we met the membership prerequisite and achieved all 10 goals. A Toastmasters club which achieves 7 out of 10 goals is considered a good club.

Follow us on our Club Facebook Page: https://www.facebook. com/mountiestoastmastersclub/

Toastmasters holds 4 main speech contests throughout the year and the club’s more experienced members Karyn, Carmel, Frank and Du Yan have all been successful winning at club level and area level then competing in the Division level. Carmel achieved a triple crown award, an award which only a few in the whole district has earned. Vivienne, the latest member to complete the competent communicator award. More members are on their way to achieving their own goals in the coming months.

wanderers football mounties Well another season has passed. At the blink of an eye the competition is over. The past 46 weeks have been very stressful for the team & staff. Commencing back in October 2018 in preparation for the 2019 season. We have had a few player changes & also new Coaching staff. Last season our 1st grade side was beaten on penalties in the Grand Final so this year the pressure was really on the 20-man squad. The club had built up player wise in the three grades & that was a challenge getting the right mix for the club. After a long pre-season our 1st Grade coach Brian Brown was happy going into the 1st round of the competition with the players picked. A two player change mid-season made a huge difference with our 1st grade side running fourth in the competition. Our under 20 side finished seventh and the under 18 side finished fifth.

38 | MOUNTIES GROUP

| 2019 Annual Report

All in all, not a bad season. Our youth league sides were adventurous in their playing style this season & unfortunately did not get the rewards for their hard work & training. It was great however to have some Mounties junior players signed in our youth league & SAP squads. Every player enjoyed the opportunity to reach another level. The season trials for 2020 have commenced & we encourage our Mounties Juniors to attend & show their skills. Good luck for next year wherever you play and enjoy your chosen sport.

Women’s Bowling Harbord Diggers We have been playing bowls at Manly Bowling Club (known as "Diggers on the Park") since February 2016 during the re-building of Harbord Diggers.

Stage 1 is completed, and completion of Stage 2 is well under way - this includes our bowling green. We believe we'll be back "home" early 2020. We are very excited and looking forward to welcoming new members. We are a very friendly club and, apart from enjoying the game of bowls, we support and care about each other. We entered a Grade 4 Pennants team and, whilst not winners, thoroughly enjoyed competing and catching up with members of other clubs within the Manly-Warringah District. Our club organises theatre parties and we are pleased that some of the Manly ladies join us Since our last report we have enjoyed "Jersey Boys", "Saturday Night Fever" and "Chicago". A big thank you to our much-loved Patron, Betty Campbell for her wonderful support and her sponsorship of the Patron's Trophy. Our thanks to Jenny McNevin, Leon Hansen, Phil Brannigan and Michael Phillips for their support and to Karen and the courteous staff at The Diggers. Thank you also to our terrific bus drivers who transport us to and from Diggers to Manly each Tuesday and Thursday. Bowls is a sport for all ages with many advantages: it suits people with varying degrees of fitness and sporting ability and, being an outdoor sport, is a healthy activity. A great opportunity to meet new people and form friendships.

Bridge Harbord Diggers The Harbord Diggers Bridge Club was established in March this year as a sub-club at the Diggers in the newly completed Freshwater development.

The club is managed under regulations of the Australian Bridge Federation and each session is run by a qualified Bridge director who supervises play and records the session on Bridgemate computerised software. Results are sent to ABF and points allocated to winning pairs. The club session runs from 10 am to 1 pm each Friday and we have grown from 2-3 tables to at least 5 or 6 tables each session. We appreciate the generous help from Mounties in setting up the club and have a modern club room with very good facilities. New members are most welcome. Best wishes to all

Cribbage Harbord diggers The Cribbage club has had another wonderful year of card playing and this year we managed to hold all our regular competitions. It is so lovely being back at the Diggers and everyone is very happy with our venue and the staff are extremely helpful.

For the summer round of the competition, Valerie Boulton took out 1st place, with Malcolm McGregor coming 2nd and Barbara Aikenhead came in 3rd. In the Autumn Round, Tony Richards came 1st, with Val Boulton 2nd and Jane Thompson coming 3rd. In the Winter Round, Jim Mitchell came 1st with Pat O’Sullivan coming 2nd and Vi Stewart coming 3rd. We are just now commencing the final round for this year, the Spring Round, so no points are being posted yet. Our double Championship was taken out by Val Boulton and Malcolm McGregor upon beating Margaret and Howard Perkins. Congratulations Val and Malcolm. The winner of the prestigious Roy Perri Trophy which is the culmination of all the points accumulated for the whole year for 2018 went to Pat O’Sullivan for the third year running. However, it is looking very likely that there are several other members all vying for the trophy this year. The highest possible score in cribbage is 29 with the 2nd highest score being 28 and that is very rare for anyone to get either score. However, Leigh Lockrey was very excited to score 28, so a very big congratulations to Leigh. At our AGM our President Jane Thompson has resigned after expertly running the club for 12 months, so we must thank her for her innovative and progressive ideas. We are now welcoming our new President, Val Boulton, who I know will be a wonderful asset to our club. Val was our Secretary and now that position has been filled by Maree Sprod. Tony Richards remains as Vice President, and Pat O’Sullivan stays on as Treasurer and we now have a new Committee member in Brigitte Grover. Congratulations to all the Office Bearers and hopefully we will have a wonderful year of card playing ahead of us.

toastmasters Daytime Harbord diggers We are glad to be back in our new beautiful surroundings after absence of 18 months. The transition into our new room has been smooth with the help of very supportive Harbord Diggers staff.

We have maintained our membership of keen Toastmasters and welcomed new members including younger ones. This includes participants at different speech levels and participation of contests leading to all area contests. We have 26 members at present ranging in age from 26 up into the 80’s. Enrico Massi has recently moved to Melbourne and is much missed by our club. Also sadly we lost one of our longstanding members. Her funeral was attended by most of our members, the Toastmasters District Director and eulogy was given by our club president Enrico Massi. We have our meetings every 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursday monthly. Our club is one of fun, support, encouragement and many chats at our morning tea time, supplied by Harbord Diggers. We meet after the meeting for a get together for lunch and a glass of wine. In the last year our group has started a bi-monthly newsletter by our member Barbara Westaway who is a local writer. We try to mix our processes from time to time which included a debate week. Our new committee have introduced a few new ideas with the introduction of a poetry section and a themed meeting, eg Hats and Cravats, at the first meeting of every month. On D Day, 6th June, a beautiful poem was written and read by one of our members. We have had several workshops in conjunction with improving our skills, including attending the Butros Speech Workshop. Awards given included; Most prestigious award, Toastmaster of the Year, as voted by membership, to Enrico Massi. Leaders are Made medallion was presented to Cheryl Brown and Enrico Massi by the Immediate Past District 90 director Phil Reed.

toastmasters Evening Harbord diggers Harbord Diggers Evening Toastmasters going strong

We’ve enjoyed being back in the beautiful new Diggers venue with our own dedicated club room. With around 35 members now and lots of visitors coming to each meeting we’re filling the room at most meetings. The Diggers has kindly let us use the full club room area to host some special weekend events – last November we hosted the Inter-RSL Toastmasters Contest which is the only team event held in Toastmasters and is open to clubs that are sponsored by RSL clubs across the greater Sydney area. It was a great success and we were proud to introduce many of our fellow Toastmasters to our sophisticated new venue.

Toastmasters gives us so many opportunities to develop our presentation and leadership skills in a supportive encouraging environment. It also provides an important social outlet for many and we have certainly formed some great friendships in our local area through membership in Toastmasters. Thank you to the Mounties Group and the team at Harbord Diggers for their continued support and encouragement – it’s very much appreciated.

We also held a special workshop on speechwriting and introducing humour into your speeches which was run by an expert Toastmaster. Over 60 people from all over Sydney attended this full day event held on a Saturday. One of the highlights of the year has been the success of our members in preparing and presenting wonderful speeches at the club level as well as competing in Area and District contests. We were thrilled to see our Immediate Past President; Laura Fagan win the Table Topics contest at the District 90 Annual Conference in May. Laura was competing against the best of the best from across NSW and did the club proud.

Men's Bowling Manly bowling club 2019 has been a great year for our Manly Men’s Bowling Club.

We fielded 3 Pennant Teams in Zone 9. Grades 3, 5 & 6. Each side consists of 12 Bowlers plus the expected reserves. We lost several Bowlers because of our sub-standard greens but the Manly spirit rose to the occasion. We managed to win our Sections in both the Grade 3 and Grade 5. Whilst we failed to win the Zone Flag in either Grade it was a great result for our Club, and we are looking forward to 2020. Our Premier Event, the Club Singles Final was played by Graham Lewis and last year’s winner in Anthony Moss. The match proved to be a great game played in good spirit with Graham Lewis too good on the day. Our Club Pairs game came down to the last bowl of the day and congrats to Will Falconer & Anthony Moss in a narrow victory over last year winners in Graham Lewis & Dave Baker.

The John Ballantyne President Singles is open to our lower grades and new Bowlers. Paul Coulton, a new Bowler, proved too strong for last year’s winner in Jason Hardman. My favourite event of the year, the Graded Fours, was the first event of the year and played in great spirit. In a classic case of Sportsmanship, the 2019 Final was played by a last minute make up team of Tom Sutherland, Danny Brosnan, Paul Rickets/Roy Anderson and Will Falconer, against the favourites of Tim Bourke, Chris Hawkins/Noel Ryan, Barry Rothwell and Dave Baker. Yes, the last-minute team of Falconer got up by one point over the Baker side. We would like to thank the Mounties Group for their continued support.

DAVID WILLIAMS President

Bocce Triglav Bocce is a traditional Mediterranean sport and Australian Slovenians used to play it in the old country, where every village had at least one or two sand courts for the men to play on Sunday afternoon. The love for Bocce is shared with other Mediterranean countries, like Italy, France, Croatia and some more. When we have built Triglav Club half a century ago, we have built first small bocce court and then bigger ones, and now we have six lanes, where we play together and sometimes against other clubs in the neighbourhood. First it was only men, who were playing, but later, Australia being an equal opportunity country, the women started playing too and now we prefer to play mixed teams, as they come. It used to be only Slovenians, but now under the benevolent umbrella of Mounties Group of Clubs, we have Slovenians and Croatians, Italians and Istriani and even South Americans, if they are nice, friendly and love Bocce. We take part in the Interclub competitions and we invite other clubs to come and play and have dinner together, on the occasions like Slovenian Independence Day Cup or Slovenian Cultural Day Cup, with good food and good prizes for the winners.

We play every Wednesday and every Saturday from 12.30 to 17.00 pm and we have a dinner together on Saturday’s after the game. new players are welcome, everybody is welcome. if you don’t know, how to play bocce we will teach you, it is a good way to exercise and keep healthy. For information call Bocce Secretary, Martha Magajna, 9609 8057

Bocce – Special Olympics Triglav Special Olympics is a Worldwide organisation that provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with an intellectual disability. Through sport, they give athletes the opportunity to get fit, develop skills, make friends and be part of a community. Special Olympics provides sport for all people with an intellectual disability, regardless of their skill level. They cater for athletes who just want to participate right up to elite athletes who want to compete on a world stage. And with local, state, national and international competition they give them plenty of opportunities to do their best. The training and competitions are almost entirely run by volunteers, who work tirelessly to deliver the program to 4500 athletes throughout Australia. Sydney West runs training in swimming, athletics, bocce, tennis and tenpin bowling. Special Olympics Sydney West Club runs a bocce training session at Triglav Club on the third Friday of each month with up to eight athletes attending. The athletes and their families gather together and share a meal at the club before they go onto the courts to train. The courts are prepared by Louis before training

commences and Louis often gives the athletes tips from his vast bocce knowledge. Training finishes with everyone having coffee and cake, and usually watching football on the big screen. Sydney West appreciates the assistance given by Martha and Louis Magajna each month, and to the Triglav Club for providing the bocce facilities.

Cycling Club Triglav Through our Club, Triglav Mounties, we have created a Triglav Mounties Cycling Club where we hold one to two events per month

I initially tabled the idea with the Triglav Mounties board members who were very supportive of the idea. We then formed the Cycling Club and started to meet monthly. The club members meet and decide on a location where it is safe to ride for most of the members and nominate a Saturday or Sunday. We tend to rotate the days to give as many people as possible the opportunity to attend. Once the starting point is decided, an invitation is sent to everyone, young and old to come and join us for a cycle ride and if you don’t have a bike you can come for a walk or run. This activity usually goes for approximately 2 hours. After the cycle or walk, everyone gets together for a chat and breakfast or just a coffee. We have started the club with approximately thirty members and hope to grow the membership in the coming months and years, with a view to encourage our younger second and third

generations Slovenian Australians to become more active with the Slovenian community. What a great way to reconnect and get to meet people they have lots in common with. Our cycling club welcomes everyone that wants to get fit and enjoys cycling. To make the club office we designed cycling jerseys which I must thank Triglav Mounties for sponsoring the jerseys, they look fantastic and I hope everyone is proud to wear them when they are riding or walking. The image attached is from the last ride the Triglav Mounties Cycling Club, this time it was the Bay cycling and walking track in Drummoyne a 6.7kms circuit, which some members went around once, twice or three times depending on the fitness levels. There are many more images of various rides on our Facebook page
