OUR COMMUNITY MOUNTIES GROUP AND THE JUNCTION WORKS SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY Mounties Group has provided an opportunity for 55 young men and women with a disability to build self-confidence, enhance creative and social skills, and work towards individual goals. The Junction Works is delighted to acknowledge and thank Mounties Group for their recent ClubGRANT which will fund a concert production in celebration of International Day of People with Disability. The partnership between Mounties Group and The Junction Works will assist performance troop, the Junction All Stars, to write, develop and perform a show at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre on Wednesday, 14 December. Chris Campbell, Junction Works CEO, said: “We are looking forward to hosting this special event on such a momentous day. International Day of People with Disability aims to make us more aware of how we can be more inclusive of people living with disability. Mounties Group December 2016 - January 2017
“The National Disability Insurance Scheme has come about in support of social inclusion and this is precisely what we are about at The Junction Works. Our concert is a significant opportunity for community integration, but more importantly, it’s a chance for our guys to communicate this message for themselves, through their performance,” said Campbell. The Junction Works appreciates Mounties Group and other community partners who recognise and support the great potential of performing arts projects for people with disabilities. Mounties Group has been participating in the ClubGRANTS funding scheme for 17 consecutive years, and will continue to give back to the community in the years to come.
RENOVATION UPDATE A full redevelopment of the Outdoor Terrace Deck with an outdoor service point from the new Terrace Bar & Café is currently underway. This space will feature undercover seating and a toddler play area plus large screens for viewing your favourite sporting events. It will boast colourful vegetation, water features and lantern lighting, making it a relaxing space to spend a summer’s day. It will be ready in December.
Fresh Café is also set for some refurbishment. There will be a children’s playground outside with additional seating in that area. This project is due to completed by mid-December. The playground area is located opposite Minis and is conveniently accessible from the underground carpark. This will be a welcome expansion of the area available for families. Commencing early next year will be a brand-new Members/Sport Bar. It will feature a modern design, large screens for sports viewing and the latest betting technology. Thank you again for your patience as we continue to improve your club.
REDEVELOPMENT
Adjacent to The Terrace Bar & Café, the dining precinct will be completed with the introduction of a Cantonese restaurant, opening late January 2017. This 309-seat venue will feature live seafood tanks, a bar and full amenities with private dining rooms. There will be a Yum Chaoffering for lunch and possibly as a late-night dining option.

Your favourite Vietnamese restaurant, Bau Truong, is also undergoing a soft refurbishment. There will be a larger area inside the building, and airconditioning will ensure that space is pleasant for dining. Automated glass doors will open onto the Outdoor Terrace Deck for those that want to enjoy their food outside on a warm balmy evening.

Each year Mounties Group calls for nominations to its prestigious Sub Club awards to acknowledge the great achievements accomplished by various members. NEWS

SPORTSPERSON OF THE YEAR 2016 We would like to congratulate everyone on their outstanding achievements both on and off the “field of play”. Every Sub Club member has represented Mounties Group with distinction and we are proud to call them our own. The biggest round of applause goes to our Senior Sports Person of the Year; Inh Van Le from Mounties Table Tennis and our Joint Junior Sports Persons of the Year; Frederick Adutwum from Mounties Athletics and Liana Smith from Mounties Hockey. They have excelled significantly in their respective sports and should be proud of their successes throughout the year. Senior Sports Person of the Year Inh Van Le has been a member of the Table Tennis Club at Mounties for 23 years, entering multiple competitions and collecting a bucketful of medals. He has obtained in total more than 38 Australian gold medals. Inh has shown excellent qualities in sportsmanship and dedication to all team members and to the club. Inh is a credit to Mounties Table Tennis and is a welldeserved recipient for Mounties Sports Person of the Year 2016. Mounties Group December 2016 - January 2017
The first recipient of the Junior Sports Person of the Year Award 2016, Frederick Adutwum, has been a member of Mounties Athletics for four seasons. Fredrick displays good sportsmanship and always strives to reach his personal best performances. Fredrick has displayed a strong passion in the Long and Triple Jump events and has achieved great results breaking many records throughout the year. Congratulations to Fredrick on his hard work and determination. Our second award recipient for 2016 Junior Sports Person of the Year Liana Smith boasts an impressive list of achievements this year. Liana has been an active member of the Hockey Club for 10 of her 15 years, competing in multiple national championships and premierships. Not only has she achieved an array of medals for her performances this year but she has also given up her time to take on a coaching role for the U/13 Juniors and students in selected local primary schools. Congratulations to Liana for her determination, courage, amazing achievements and dedication to Mounties Hockey Club. Mounties Group is very proud to boast the efforts of these high achievers and encourages everyone to continue to excel in their fields to celebrate greater successes in the year ahead.
