The annual Mounties Group Charity Golf Day was back again in December at one of Sydney’s premier golf courses, Liverpool Golf Club.

The day brought together 120 industry partners for networking and the opportunity to raise important funds for the Children’s Ward at Liverpool Hospital. More than $43,000 was raised – a fantastic result. The 18 Hole Four Ball Ambrose competition featured special guest, former Australian Open winner and dual Australian Masters Champion, Craig Parry. Craig’s appearance was kindly made possible by our beverage supplier, Schweppes. Robynne Cooke, General Manager of Liverpool Hospital, spoke to players and guests about the importance of the funds for the local hospital. She revealed that the support of Mounties Group will enable the hospital to design and produce a book to educate young patients about the hospital system, and help remove the fear that they might have when being admitted. The interior design concept was also approved prior to Christmas and we look forward to sharing some of these exciting elements shortly. Over the coming months, all aspects of the project will continue to grow, with building across the entire site including parking, club, seniors living and childcare. As always, whilst the development continues to progress at a rapid rate, the Club remains open, with four amazing offerings operating including Gio, our rooftop bar and restaurant; Diggers Diner, the food truck on Evans Street; Diggers Local, our unique boutique providores and of Dig Inn CafĂŠ & Bar. We encourage members and guests to visit our temporary Club.

It’s been a very busy and efficient two months on the development project at Harbord Diggers where we have marked some significant milestones, which have included the completion of bulk excavation that will see a considerable reduction of trucks coming to and from the site every day. In conjunction with the bulk excavation to the eastern side of the site, and following the formation of the two levels of club car parking on the western side, the Club level is really starting to take shape, with the ceiling formwork now erected.

Gfitness Gives Back! WITH NEW CARDIO EQUIPMENT
Only 15 months after opening its doors at 23 Oliver Street, Freshwater, Gfitness is already giving back and providing members with an example of things to come. In early February, Gfitness will take delivery of a complete suite of new cutting edge cardio equipment from the world leaders in commercial equipment, Life Fitness. This next generation cardio equipment brings new level of interactivity to your workouts. The new cardio equipment, worth over $150,000, is of world class quality. It has new tablet style technology and a huge array of interactive programs and applications.
“Although this is only our temporary home, we wanted to make sure it reflected our brand standards and was a representation of things to come,” said owner Paul Gill. “We also wanted to say thank you to the Diggers members and the new members who have supported us.” Since opening in October 2015, Gfitness has made a positive influence to its members and general community. The fitness centre recently launched a new outdoor program on Freshwater Beach called Beach HIIT. This is an adaptation to their hugely popular HIIT (high intensity interval training) program which has been getting some sensational results over the past few months.

Q&A With GIO’S ANTONIO RUGGERINO
Every Sunday, we would host these huge family lunches. My mother would spend the entire morning cooking while my relatives would arrive with their signature dishes in hand. Good food is meant to be shared with the ones you love and that is the philosophy behind Gio – it’s a place for people to meet and enjoy each other’s company over some delicious meals. Tell us a little about the inspiration behind Gio… Gio is a tribute to my family. The name itself is inspired by my parents, my mother, Giovanna, and late father, Giovanni. They were both instrumental in igniting my passion for food and authentic Italian cooking. My parents taught me the importance of using only the best fresh produce in my cooking, in fact, my mum helps tend to our rooftop garden at Gio and even Mounties Group | February - March 2017

What makes Gio unique? For one, the views. Gio’s rooftop setting atop of Harbord Diggers’ iconic Freshwater headland is like nothing else on the Northern Beaches. Our balcony boasts uninterrupted, panoramic views of Freshwater Beach, spanning all the way across to Curl Curl Beach and beyond – making the dining experience all the more special.
