Please Welcome Katarina Swendrowski Please welcome Katarina Swendrowski to her new position as Junior Council Person. In November, 2018, in an effort to educate and involve youth in local government, Borough Council adopted a Resolution to create the position of Junior Council Member. As the first appointed Junior Council Member, Katarina may attend all meetings of Council and all committee meetings and participate fully in those proceedings, except that she does not have the right to vote. Katarina has a passion for debating, public speaking, and writing, and wants to help others in an impactful and positive way. She looks forward to this opportunity to represent and be a voice for others, to observe Borough Business, and gain knowledge from the council. Katarina is on her third year of varsity cheerleading, for both football cheerleading and basketball cheerleading. She is on her third year of FFA, now holding the position of chapter treasurer. In school, she is involved in Connect 4, Yearbook Club, the Big Brother Big Sister Program, Student Task Force, and is the FFA representative for Student Council. Outside of school, she is employed as a correspondent for the Homepage Network, is part of the Tioga Youth Leadership 2.0, the Junior Porsche Club of America, and a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, where she altar serves. She was nominated for RYLA (a camp sponsored by Rotary). She was awarded Cheerleading MVP 2 years in a row, was 2018 September Student of the Month and 2018 February FFA Member of the Month. She is

also an accredited Parliamentarian. Katarina will graduate Wellsboro High School in 2020. She wants to attend college for a major in political science, and minor in psychology and pre-law. She hopes to become a lawyer, and then run for political office.
