Dear LOWA partners,

The history of LOWA is composed of many small stories, big and small development steps and a string of sales seasons that now stretch back a full 100 years. But we at LOWA still have our eyes firmly trained on the future. This workbook for the upcoming season of Spring_Summer 2024 is the latest example of our focus.

The RENEGADE has been a mainstay at LOWA for more than 25 years now, and it will remain that way in this season. The year was 1997. The “rebel” that had been dismissed as unsalable shook the outdoor industry to its core, eventually becoming an inspirational model for lightweight, multifunctional hiking boots. After more than ten years we went back to work again and are about to introduce the results of this effort: an updated version of the shoe called the RENEGADE EVO. We took our time as we carefully, purposefully and respectfully went about the job of writing the next chapter in the RENEGADE’s success story. This update is much more than a facelift – however, the face still shines right through. The shoe is and will remain a legend.

Little weight and lots of comfort are two exceptional qualities of these shoes – and, of course, perfect fit is something you can take for granted with LOWA footwear.

From the very beginning, our MOUNTAINEERING models have served as the vanguard of our product portfolio. As we frequently do, we drew on the expertise of our LOWA PRO Team, a group of the world’s best mountain climbers, when we designed these boots. Stunning designs, new and lightweight materials and innovative constructions are the hallmark features of these boots, qualities that enable them to assume a very special place in our product line. You can look forward to the new VAJOLET GTX MID, MANGART GTX and MANGART GTX Ws, footwear that meets the highest standards.

AM PRODUKTIONSSTANDORT BOŠANY IN DER SLOWAKEI

Damit die ungebrochen hohe Nachfrage nach unseren Produkten bestmöglich bedient werden kann, setzt LOWA momentan in verschiedensten Bereichen alle Hebel in Bewegung, um Prozesse zu optimieren und die Effizienz an den verschiedenen Standorten zu steigern – selbstverständlich ohne dabei vom Streben nach höchster Qualität und perfekter Passform in irgendeiner Weise abzurücken.

Aus diesem Grund hat LOWA PRODUCTION s.r.o. im Februar 2023 eine neue Direct Injection 30-Stationen-Maschine des deutschen Herstellers DESMA GmbH erworben. Das Ziel dieser Anschaffung ist es, Innovationen im Produktionsprozess zu unterstützen, die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit durch intelligente Lösungen zu steigern und das technologische Niveau der Produktion zu erhöhen.

AN IMPORTANT TOOL TO IMPROVE PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY

NEW DESMA MACHINES FOR PRODUCTION SITE IN BOŠANY, SLOVAKIA

In order to satisfy the continuously high demand for our products, LOWA is currently doing everything possible to optimise processes and improve the efficiency of our various production sites. Without, of course, compromise in our pursuit for the best quality and perfect fit.

To this end, in February 2023, LOWA Production s.r.o. purchased a new Direct Injection Process machine with 30 stations from the German supplier, DESMA GmbH. The purpose of this machine is to support innovation in the production process, increase competitiveness through intelligent solutions and elevate the technological level of production.

NARROW LAST

WIDE LAST

WOMAN LAST

Um eine optimale Passform zu gewährleisten, wird der Leisten bei Frauenmodellen speziell an die weibliche Anatomie angepasst. Der Leisten ist maßgeblich dafür zuständig, dass der Schuh gut sitzt. DOUBLE INJECTION

Für eine wirkungsvolle Dämpfung und einen hohen Tragekomfort wird die Sohle des Schuhs über ein technisch aufwendiges Anspritzverfahren mit dem Schaft verbunden. Dazu kommt der Oberschuh in eine speziell gefertigte Gussform. In diese wird anschließend in unterschiedlichen Schichten ein PU-Schaumstoff eingebracht. Daraus entsteht die Sohle, die sich direkt mit dem Schaft zu einer Einheit verbindet.

To provide effective cushioning and improved comfort, the sole of the shoe is bonded to the upper in a technically demanding injection process. The upper boot is placed into a specially designed mould. Various layers of PU-foam padding are then poured into it. In the process, the sole and upper are bonded together.

The toe area of the shoe is designed in such a way that the distance to the rock is kept to a bare minimum.

Every time a foot is placed on the ground, the heel area is subjected to many times the weight of the user’s own body. To reduce this stress and to make heel support even more comfortable, a heel cushion was developed for the shank as a way of creating a pleasant walking sensation.

LOWA REPTEX

In der Tierwelt besitzen Reptilien für ihre empfindliche Haut einen schützenden Panzer. Davon inspiriert ist LOWA REPTEX, das Obermaterial des Schuhs, das der Beschädigung durch beispielsweise scharfe Gesteinskanten trotzt. Diese wirksame Verstärkung reduziert im Vergleich zu Gummi das Gesamtgewicht und erhöht gleichzeitig die Leistungsfähigkeit am Berg.

In the animal kingdom, protective shells cover reptiles’ delicate skin. LOWA REPTEX is inspired by this natural form of protection. The upper material of the shoe prevents damage caused by objects like sharp rocks. In comparison with rubber, the effective reinforcement reduces the total weight and increases performance on the mountain.

LOWA FLEX

Damit jede einzelne Öse flexibel ist, werden die Schnürteile, auf denen diese befestigt sind, einzeln angebracht. Diese sind aus weichen Bordürenledern oder Textilmaterialien gefertigt, um Druckstellen zu vermeiden. To add flexibility to each eyelet, the lacing systems through which laces are threaded are affixed separately. These sections are made of soft leather trim or textile materials that prevent pressure points. Thanks to the flexible arrangement of the eyelets, the laces can individually be adjusted without producing too much pressure on specific areas. Yet the tongue maintains its optimum positioning.

2 ZONE LACING

Durch die Zweizonenschnürung verfügen der Vorfuß und Schaft über getrennt einstellbare Schnürzonen. Dadurch kann der Schuh individuell an die Anatomie des Fußes angepasst werden.

Thanks to the two zone lacing system, the forefoot and upper have their own separately adjustable lacing zones. As a result, the footwear can be individually adjusted to the foot’s anatomy.

FLEXFIT

Feet can roll more effectively if the upper of a hiking boot can be easily bent. Such a feature saves energy when the wearer climbs hills and it provides real comfort in the process. For this reason, LOWA has integrated a flexible zone and a “lace loop” into the instep area. This involves repositioning the boot’s eyelets and using a flexible lace hook that improves heel comfort and facilitates bending.

FLEXFIT SYNCRO

Bei der FLEXFIT-SYNCRO-Technologie handelt es sich um eine asymmetrische Schaftkonstruktion, durch die sich der Schaft des Schuhs „synchron“ zum Unterschenkel bewegt. FLEXFIT SYNCRO technology involves an asymmetric upper design that enables the footwear’s upper to move “in sync” with the wearer’s lower leg. The technology focuses on a key aspect of walking: A person plants his or her foot not centrally under the hip, but rather somewhat farther in the middle.

The specially designed footwear tongue substantially enhances comfort. The tongue includes extra padding for the outer portion of the foot, and the upper end of it is especially soft. This asymmetric padding provides optimum support to many areas of the foot. To take into account the foot’s natural anatomy, the recesses for the ankle area have also been placed higher on the inside than on the outside, and a flexible bending insert has been integrated into the inner side by the foot.

I-LOCK

Einfach festziehen und fixieren: Um die Schnürung zu vereinfachen, hat LOWA einen speziellen Klemmhaken entwickelt. Dieser erlaubt eine Schnürung in zwei Zonen. Nachdem im unteren Bereich des Schuhs die Schnürung festgezogen wurde, kann über diesen Klemmhaken der Senkel blockiert werden. Just pull tight and lock in place: To simplify the job of tying footwear, LOWA has developed a special type of fastening hook. Special feature: the system holds the laces in place in two different zones. Once the laces have been pulled tight in the lower area, they can be locked in place with the help of the fastening hook.
