La lingua WALSER viene parlata da oltre 700 anni ai piedi del Monte Rosa. La comunità Walser, originaria dell’Alto Vallese, è un antico popolo inizialmente nomade, che già prima del Mille si era stanziato alla testata della valle del Rodano, nell’altopiano del Goms. Di qui si spostò, intorno al XIII secolo, per dare inizio ad un’altra grande migrazione, che lo portò appunto al di qua della catena alpina, disseminandosi attraverso tutto il crinale delle Alpi Pennine ad est e sud del Monte Rosa. Sorsero così attorno alla seconda più alta cima delle Alpi, le comunità italiane nelle regioni Piemonte e Valle d’ Aosta. La lingua WALSER è parlata ufficialmente ancora oggi complessivamente da oltre 17.000 persone fra Italia, Austria, Svizzera, Francia e Lichtenstein.

The WALSER language has been spoken for more than 700 years at the foot of Mount Rosa. The Walser community originally came from the Upper Valais where these once nomadic people had been dwelling at the head of the Rhône valley on the Goms plateau even before the year one thousand.

Around the thirteenth century they moved from here in another great migration that took them over the Alpine range and saw them spread out along the whole ridge of the Pennine Alps south of Mt. Rosa. That is how the Italian communities in the Piedmont and Aosta Valley regions came to settle around the second highest peak of the Alps. More than 17,000 persons in Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France and Lichtenstein still today officially speak the WALSER language.

Il popolo ladino è considerato il popolo più antico delle Alpi. In origine queste popolazioni, formate da coloni dell’impero romano, vivevano nella regione del Norico, attuale territorio austriaco ad ovest di Vienna, ma fin dal V secolo d.C. si spostarono sulle Alpi orientali per sfuggire alle frequenti invasioni barbariche. Oggi la lingua ladina è parlata da oltre 30.000 persone in Italia nelle cinque valli della Ladinia storica, in territorio dolomitico, fra il Trentino Alto Adige ed il Veneto ed in Svizzera in alcune aree del cantone dei Grigioni.

Nel territorio dell’Alto Adige/Sudtirol, il ladino viene riconosciuto come lingua ufficiale nelle valli di Gardena e Badia.

The Ladin people are considered the most ancient of the Alps. Settlers of the Roman Empire, they originally lived in the Noric region (today in Austria west of Vienna), but starting in the fifth century A.D. they moved along the eastern Alps fleeing from the frequent barbarian invasions. Ladin is today spoken by more than 30,000 persons in Italy in the five alleys of the historic Ladinspeaking area in the Dolomites between Trentino Alto Adige and Veneto, as well as in Switzerland in some areas of the Grisons Canton. In Alto Adige/ Südtirol, Ladin is recognized as the official language in the Gardena and Badia valleys.

La civiltà occitana si sviluppò nel medioevo, realizzando una raffinata cultura che condizionò tutta l’Europa, interessando il campo della letteratura e della musica. La lingua occitana si parla ancora in una regione geografica molto ampia che parte dalle Alpi Marittime italiane, nella regione Piemonte e attraverso le Alpi francesi e il Golfo del Leone arriva fino alle valli dei Pirenei.

Proprio per questo motivo l‘Occitano, detto anche Lingua d‘Oc o Provenzale, è una realtà linguistica molto frammentaria, tanto che sono riscontrabili variazioni di rilievo non soltanto da valle a valle, ma anche tra villaggi limitrofi.

Complessivamente la lingua occitana, nelle sue numerose varianti, viene parlata seppur non ufficialmente da circa 1 milione e 500 mila persone.

The Occitan civilization developed in the Middle Ages with a refined culture that influenced the whole of Europe in terms of literature and music. The Occitan language is still spoken in a vast geographical area that stretches from the Italian Maritime Alps in the Piedmont region, goes across the French Alps and the Gulf of Lyon as far as the Pyrenean valleys. This has resulted in Occitan, otherwise known as Langue d’oc or Provençal language, being highly fragmented, to the extent that considerable variations can be found not only from valley to valley, but even between neighboring villages. Overall the Occitan language in all its variations is spoken, whether officially or otherwise, by about 1 million 500 thousand persons.

Lo studio della forma

La realizzazione di una forma è un processo lungo ed accurato nel quale si condensa la lunga esperienza di AKU nella progettazione e produzione di calzature di alta qualità.

La forma originaria AKU è la matrice, frutto di una costante ricerca sull’anatomia plantare.

Da essa, grazie a specifici adattamenti, derivano le diverse tipologie di forma, che variano in rapporto ai diversi modelli e alla specifica funzione d’uso del prodotto.

Forme asciutte ed allungate per le calzature professionali del segmento MOUNTAIN, destinate a favorire la precisione e la sensibilità nell’utilizzo in arrampicata su roccia.

Forme avvolgenti ed anatomiche per le calzature del segmento TREKKING, destinate ad offrire stabilità ed a favorire l’azione dinamica nella camminata su sentieri di montagna con fondo molto irregolare.

Forme morbide ed accoglienti per le calzature del segmento ACTIVE, destinate all’attività outdoor leggera, in condizioni non impegnative e su fondi regolari.

THE STUDY OF THE LAST L’esperienza manifatturiera di AKU ha generato Global Custom Fit, un sistema che esprime la massima adattabilità della calzatura alle caratteristiche dell’utilizzatore, grazie ad un insieme di tecniche e materialistudiati in funzione del comfort. La forma originaria AKU, frutto di una costante ricerca sull’anatomia plantare, è il centro attorno al quale ruota l’intero sistema.

Drawing upon their manufacturing experience, AKU have created the Global Custom Fit system. This ensures the maximum adaptability of the shoe to each users’ characteristics, thanks to a mix of techniques and materials developed in order to enhance comfort. The whole system works around the original AKU last, developed from extensive research of the underfoot shape.

Making a last is a long, painstaking process and for AKU represents years of experience in the design and production of top quality footwear.

The original AKU last is the matrix, the fruit of constant research into shaping the sole to provide anatomical support. Specific adaptations have given rise to various types of last, which differ according to the models and the specific use for which the product has been designed. There are narrow, elongated lasts for professional footwear in the MOUNTAIN segment designed to enhance precision and sensitivity in rock climbing.

Wraparound, anatomical lasts are used for the TREKKING segment footwear, designed to offer stability and help dynamic action when walking on the very uneven, rough ground of mountain tracks. Soft, snug lasts are instead used for footwear in the ACTIVE segment, designed for light outdoor activities on undemanding, level ground.

AIR SYSTEM

AIR 8000® e INFINITY AIR sono le due soluzioni tecnologiche esclusive messe a punto da AKU per la costruzione di una tomaia traspirante e con il giusto equilibrio termico.

Entrambi i sistemi lavorano sulla tecnica di costruzione e assemblaggio dei vari strati che compongono la tomaia. Prove di laboratorio indicano per le tomaie AIR8000 un livello di traspirazione, nell’arco delle 24 ore, fino ad oltre 11 volte superiore rispetto ad un tessuto realizzato con sistema convenzionale.

AIR 8000® and INFINITY AIR are the two unique technological solutions utilised by AKU for engineering a breathable upper with the correct thermal balance. Laboratory tests confirm that AIR 8000 offers up to 11 times greater breathability than a traditional fabric over a period of 24 hours.

INTERNAL MIDSOLE SYSTEM

IMS è il sistema AKU per la costruzione del sottopiede di montaggio grazie al quale il plantare cattura perfettamente l’anatomia del piede, impedendo scivolamenti laterali e frontali in fase di utilizzo intenso, garantendo al contempo l’assorbimento degli urti.

The insole is made according to AKU’s IMS system where it captures perfectly the shape of the underfoot, preventing the foot from slipping back and forth and from side to side in heavy use. At the same time, it guarantees shock absorption.

SLOW MEMORY FOAM INJECTION LASTING

E’ una tecnica di costruzione specifica per i modelli realizzati con sistema ad iniezione.

Grazie all’impiego di una speciale forma removibile nelle fasi critiche di post – iniezione e di raffreddamento, la struttura della tomaia finita risulta più stabile e in grado di mantenere nel tempo la forma originaria della calzatura.

This is a specific manufacturing technique applied to all AKU injection lasted models.

Thanks to the special removable last used in the critical post-injection and cooling phases, the structure of the finished upper is more stable and is able to maintain the shoe’s original shape over time.

E’ un materiale ultra leggero e ultra traspirante, studiato per migliorare la capacità di auto modellazione della tomaia rispetto all’anatomia del piede, grazie ad una speciale memoria dinamica di forma. SMF è posizionato in 3 punti critici della calzatura per quanto riguarda il comfort: nel plantare anatomico removibile, nella linguetta e nel gambetto, inclusi il collarino e la zona attorno alle caviglie.

This is an ultra-light and ultra-breathable material engineered to enable the boot’s upper to mould to the foot’s shape and thus provide additional comfort, thanks to the special dynamic shape memory. SMF is placed in three strategic points of the boot: in the anatomic removable foot bed, in the tongue and the ankle area.

GUARANTEED QUALITY

AKU guarantees the quality of its footwear through a specific quality control program that is implemented in all stages of the production process. AKU footwear undergoes not only many laboratory tests by in-house quality control staff in all stages of the process, but also tests directly in the field. There is an intense activity of testing prototypes by testers who work together with AKU in putting the finishing touches to the product.

I principali test sul campo riguardano la precisione, la tenuta la termicitá.

Ogni tester compila una scheda di valutazione tecnica che viene successivamente elaborata dal dipartimento design in collaborazione con la modelleria per applicare gli eventuali interventi correttivi.

TEST di resistenza e abrasione

FiELD TESTS

Il campione, prima di diventare prodotto finito, subisce poi un severo test di resistenza, simulando meccanicamente il movimento della camminata per oltre 500.000 passi.

Si misurano il livello di logoramento della tomaia e di abrasione della suola.

The main field tests concern precision and thermal performance. Each tester fills in a technical assessment sheet, which is then processed by the design department together with the modelling unit so that any corrective work can be applied.

DURABILITY TEST

Before becoming a finished product, the sample is subjected to a stringent durability test which consists of mechanical gait simulation for more than 500,000 steps.

The wear of the upper and the abrasion of the outsole are measured.

TEST di impermeabilità

Controllo estetico

Il prodotto finito viene quindi ulteriormente verificato in termini di impermeabilità, mediante un test realizzato con strumentazione fornita direttamente da WL-GORE per escludere la possibilità di eventuali danneggiamenti intervenuti nel corso dell’industrializzazione, in particolare nella delicata fase dell’orlatura (cucitura) della tomaia.

Un controllo finale sul prodotto prima dello stoccaggio a magazzino riguarda l’estetica del modello (in particolare i colori del pellame ed eventuali residui di lavorazione) e le modalità di presentazione (allacciatura, pulizia). A questo punto il prodotto è pronto per essere commercializzato.

WATERPROOFING TEST

There is a final aesthetic control of the product prior to storage in the warehouse (in particular the colors of the leather and any work residues) as well as the methods of presentation (fastening/lacing, cleanliness). The product is now ready to be put on the market.

The finished product is then checked for waterproofness, with a test using instruments supplied directly by WL-GORE, in case any damage has occurred during the industrial process, in particular in the delicate phase of (welting) stitching the upper.
