I trained as a mechanic in a small independent garage in my teens. Toyota Aberdare has been my rst experience of a larger Franchised Dealership and I’ve recently been promoted to Workshop Foreman. In the beginning I was quite daunted by the thought of committing to the level of study required to sit the Toyota exams but I was encouraged to persevere at a pace that suited me. It has been challenging to t around family and day to day work commitments but I’m pleased that I stuck with it and have completed the quali cations. Vehicle mechanics is changing, we all need to keep pace.

I started at Gerry Hill’s in 2015 having worked in an accountancy practice for 13 years. At rst it was a steep learning curve adapting to running accounts in ‘real time’ as an industry Accountant, however I was supported in the transition by the company employing a Toyota experienced Management Consultant who mentored me though the rst 12 months. Any courses, Continued Professional Development and training have always been supported and funded.
