Sleep over at the waterpark

Ever find yourself at a waterpark wishing the fun would never end? It doesn’t have to as Laguna Waterpark Dubai’s popular overnight camping experience returns.

The La Mer-based waterpark relaunches The Camp, available every Thursday and Friday. Take on the water slides at night, then enjoy a barbecue feast round the campfire followed by an outdoor movie night. In the morning, you’ll receive a breakfast basket hand-delivered to your tent, piled high with eggs, tomatoes, onions, fresh Arabic bread, labneh and cheese. In true camping style, you’ll have to cook it yourself – but there’ll be chefs on hand at the live cooking stations to guide you. Living in the sunshine, our skin is regularly crying out for some TLC. Sometimes it feels like the long hours at work and playing a bit too hard on the weekends is written all over our face. Our ‘bold beauty choice’ on the day is the Ultra Youth Glow facial, described as being able to take years off your face.

The eight-step procedure takes 75 minutes and starts with a quick consultation with our therapist and a thorough cleanse of the skin. Then it’s on to the extractions (enough discomfort to make our eyes water) and microdermabrasion with a tool which sounds and feels like our face is being sanded down (but in a good way). With our blackheads cleared and our skin suitably smoothed, it’s time for some antioxidantrich and slightly tingly, Vitamin C serum.

We should say that this is more of a clinical experience rather than a relaxing spa treatment – so don’t expect comfy pillows and aromatherapy oils. But there are some very calming moments during the facial, especially the massage. Every line and every bit of tension feels like it melts away in that perfect little interlude. Finally it’s on with a face mask for 10-15 minutes and then a final spritz of revitalising tonic.

And we’re done. Skipping out of the clinic with our new youthful glow, which is commented on for a couple of days afterwards.
