Where to find Abu Dhabi’s Insta-glorious salt lakes

If, like ours, your Instagram feed has been increasingly interrupted by dreamy images of narrow pastel green lakes filled with crystalline lily pad features, and you’re curious about where you can get some of that sweet salt lake selfie action yourself, we can help. Most of the images you’re seeing are from what has come to be known as ‘Long Salt Lake’. It’s located in the Al Wathba region of Abu Dhabi, south of the city. If you know your way to the Fossil Dunes, it’s best to head in that direction. When you pass the dunes, you’ll need to follow the pylons across the sand track. The closest E road is the E65 but the easiest access comes from a turn off on the E30 close to the stunning Al Wathba Wildlife Reserve (currently closed to protect nesting sites). Tickets now on sale for Disney on Ice in Abu Dhabi this September

Originally slated for February 2020, the latest Disney On Ice spectacular was due to be the show that launched Yas Island’s new Etihad Arena. But the pandemic hit and, wisely, public events were given their skating orders, and removed from the agenda.

Thankfully, Find Your Hero, a show by Disney On Ice, will now make an extended run in the capital with weekend dates from September 2 to September 11, 2021. Tickets are available in batches of two, four and six, with prices from Dhs300 for a family of four. q etihadarena.ae
