The new part of the park features Trident Tower, a tall building with 12 multicoloured slides connected to it. After a super-soaked preview, What’s On can confirm that all the new attractions are superb. Prepare to get drenched as you whip through tunnels, defy gravity on its four-person rafts, cliff jump into plunge pools and much more. There are now a whopping 105 rides in total at the whole Atlantis Aquaventure, and some are more adrenaline pumping than others. For a slightly more relaxing experience, try the Raging Rapids, which is the park’s more intense lazy river ride. The UAE is crisscrossed with hiking trails for all skill levels, traversing wadis and rugged mountain ranges. Before the mercury soars to stay-at-home levels, set out on a beginner’s route. One of the best hiking spots, Wadi Shawka (25.103958, 56.039260), is a great beginner’s hike. Shawka has several varied routes. You can choose from a quick ramble or make a day of it and include the Shawka pools, too. Whichever you pick you’ll enjoy impressive, panoramic views. Head to the Shawka Dam and either take the stairs directly to the summit or choose one of the trails, easily visible from the small parking area. The trails are well marked out, making it difficult to get lost and safe for families with children.
