Rabbits
Mother rabbits heart began to pound loudly in her chest as she heard gunfire in the distance. She suspected that Father rabbit had attempted to steal carrots from Farmer Edwards allotment again. As Mother rabbit peered out from the top of the burrow, she spotted Father rabbit running towards her holding a bunch of carrots under his arm. “Inside quickly!!” puffed Father rabbit pushing her inside the burrow. A few steps led down towards a small dining area where their frightened looking siblings sat huddled together. Suddenly, the youngest one said...” Is that blood on your leg?” Mother rabbit let out a scream. “It’s just a scratch!” replied Father rabbit giving her a reassuring smile. “I told you never to go back to that allotment”, scolded Mother rabbit. “At least I managed to get some of Farmer Edwards biggest & tastiest looking carrots”, he replied proudly. That evening, the rabbit family sat at the table and enjoyed a big dish of homemade carrot soup before retiring to their beds for an early morning start to visit the relatives of Mother rabbit who lived near a beach. That morning, they were awoken as usual by a cockerel which perched itself in its usual spot on an old wooden fence. Mother rabbit prepared a small picnic basket while the young siblings got their buckets & spades for a fun day out by the sea. The journey was across fields which they cautiously crossed until finally reaching the sandy shore. Occasionally, an odd human would walk along its shoreline and watch the rabbits chase each other, but by the law of nature, no human is permitted to witness the truly magical qualities and abilities of these beautiful and clever rabbits.
