s I write this, the dates for the BSRA 2021 rally season have just been released. Normally this isn't something we would do until the last meeting of the year, and that used to be at Brid, but as most of you are aware, Brid is long gone and Southport is now the BSRA destination of choice for the end-of-season rally. Box pipes and performance Rally expectations aside, I now just want to make mention of my latest passion,,, Clubman pipes. Despite being a lifelong proponent of expansion chambers, I've now become obsessed, since being seduced by the latest offering from Darrell Taylor, after completing a test ride on one of his TType Clubman equipped engines. If you want to see that test ride, check out my YouTube channel 'The Scooter Factory' and watch me put the engine through its paces. In the meantime though, flick to p33 of this edition, and read up on the event right here. Anyway that's enough of my ramblings, it's another belter this month ... enjoy the issue.

KICK START JUMP THE GUN REFIT After almost 28 years in business, Jump The Gun thought it was time for a lick of paint... something a little more in keeping with those early '60s gents' outfitters. Sharp suits, limited edition knits and jackets among a whole wardrobe of other stuff. So what do people think? Well they've had a great reaction from all who have visited so far, some saying: "It feels more like a '60s clothing shop for grown-ups!"

COOL LID AGV's Sportmodular has been Stan's choice of helmet for some time now and this year he's been taking the 'Ray Carbon' scheme for a spin. Moulded from carbon fibre, the Sportmodular weighs in at only 1295g but offers 190-degree vision and excellent impact protection while combining the performance of a full face with the versati Iity of a ' flip front. Aside from some odd sizing issues (no one in the office can believe that Stan has a 'small' head) the helmet has proven to be both comfortable and reliable in use. We'll be reporting on Stan's recent road-trip to the South of France in future issues but having endured everything from 35 -degree heat and torrential rain it's fair to say he's put this
6
season's lid through its paces. "From the outset it was clear that the new white scheme was more comfortable in high temperatures than the full black carbon I've worn previously," he began. "That said , the ventilation system is superb, on more than one occasion I checked to make sure my visor was down! On a night ride we stumbled across the mother of all storms but not one drop of rain passed by the seal. At the same time the vents stopped any condensation forming, it was a very impressive performance ." With a list price of ÂŁ599 , the Sportmodular certainly isn 't cheap but helmets are one piece of equipment where investment certainly pays dividends.

A. Sorry to hear about the accident - hope you are doing okay. The good news is that you don't need to be instructing any French lawyers. You are entitled under European law to havethe claim dealt with in this country using English solicitors. It can be a bit fiddly and there are various steps you need to take so it can be tricky

NEW SCUDERIA LAMBRETI'A VELOCE An al I-new 198cc al lay kit has come to market. It has a number of great features and testing has produced 18.5bhp at the back wheel, and that is just using a 25mm carb and Ancilottitype exhaust.... So what will the 'tuning' experts be able to achieve? The mind boggles. It will marketed through UK dealers, price TBC, and it includes a porcupine-style head, a Meteor piston and a threebolt manifold as the intake is at a less acute angle and clears the frame better.

KICKSTART--------------------NEW from Vanucci! With things not looking much better on the rally front, I've been getting in as many local miles as possible on various rideouts, and so had plenty of time to get these new items tested. My usual 'heavy' wax cotton jacket has been relegated to the hanger
while the warmer and more local jaunts are taking place, and its lightness has been much appreciated during the warmer rides. The casual-looking boots have been a godsend too ... waterproof Sympatex features aside, they are comfy, cool and have the right balance of safety features ... and you can never have too much protection when out on the road ...
Vanucci VC-1 Sympatex Boot These cool, casual shoes don't really look like motorcycle boots, yet they're exactly that - the Vanucci VC-1 are even safety certified as motorcycle boots. They have internal side zippers, making them very easy to put on. They also have a Sympatex climate membrane, so they're breathable and waterproof. Sporty rubber sole, side zippers for easy step-in, waterproof and breathable Sympatex climate membrane. CE certified to EN 13634 :2017 RRP:ÂŁ160 Moreinfo:www.louis.eu

KICKSTART--------------------Saigon Scooter Centre's 23rd anniversary party It's that time of year again and yes, time flies. From a quick three-day visit back in 1997, 23 years have passed by! And as per the last couple of years a tropical monsoon decided to join the festivities! With a kick-off early afternoon with plenty of cold Tigers in the fridge, we had a steady turnout. Party packs were handed out on arrival, with thanks to our friends at Givi for supporting the event also. There was a great mix of both local ex-pats and the Saigon Vietnamese clubs attending and also the guys who travelled up from the Mekong Delta from Can Tho and My Tho, the Vung Tau Vespa Club and a couple of our Hanoi friends. A great spread of local Vietnamese delicacies was served up at 6pm including barbecue, hot pot and seafood and the party continued well into the night at which point the trusty oil cup came out with the Chivas Regal, with the option of 2% for the boys and 3% for the party animals . The music was pumped up after the food and then the unexpected special appearance of the night of a couple of very talented dancing girls who put on a great show.
Big thanks to all 100-plus friends and customers who braved the weather to join us and also to Linh for sorting out all the food and the entertainment. See you all again same time, same place next year. Pat@SSC
SOLENTCOUGARS'VIRTUALRALLY2020
Event organiser, Louise Nimmo-Scott, explained that the Solent Cougars reformed in 2000 and this year was their 20th anniversary. With more than 19 years of experience under their belts, it was clear from the outset that the rally is a finely tuned event which is all about having fun - and the ladies' opening cocktail party got the proceedings off to a great start. In the meantime, virtual rallygoers were gathering and 'attending' from all over the globe. The day's entertainment was handled by Dave Porter and
10
the Scooterists International Radio team, who delivered a fantastic set of live streamed scooter tracks supported by a superb selection of scooter videos. The custom show saw plenty of entries from all genres. Best Vespa went to Dean Newland, aka 'Mad Cucumbers' with his Vespa Rally 200 electronic, Best Lambretta went to Steve Alderton and Furthest Travelled went to Aubrey Doolittle from California, US. Throughout the day everyone had a fantastic time and the partying continued

well into the early hours. Hopefully it won't be too long before the Covid-19 pandemic has passed, and next year the Solent Cougars will be able to host their fun-filled rally in their usual style to celebrate their 21st anniversary. Words:Stu Smith
