The big news for this year’s You’ve Been Nabbed rally, organised by the National Association for Bikers with a Disability (NABD), is that it’s moved site! For 2017, the event moves to the Cheshire Showground at Tabley, near Knutsford, in Cheshire (WA16 0HJ), but apart from that it’s still business as usual – 20-plus live bands in three marquees, three discos, the usual fantastic stand-up comedy show, a big raffle, entertainment and rides for kids, cheap beer (three bars including a real ale bar featuring a range of 60 beers and ciders), hot showers, trade stands, and lots more. And, as well as that, us lot here at Back Street Heroes are sponsoring the custom show, and providing ten trophies in all the usual classes, so get your custom bike there! Pre-booked tickets cost just £30 (until 29th April), and then they’re £35 on the gate. To get an advance ticket send a cheque (payable to NABD) to NABD, Unit 20 The Bridgewater Centre, Robson Avenue, Urmston, Manchester, M41 7TE (A5 stamped addressed envelope please) or ring 0844 415 4849. The Carole Nash Irish Motorbike & Scooter Show is returning to Dublin’s RDS, from 3-5th March, and there will be more than 120 exhibitors and a host of live action thrills – it’s a must for all two- and

The idea of a Fat Bob rideout was suggested on a Facebook page called UK Fat Bobs (Harley-Davidson), and the idea quickly grew into reality with so many enthusiastic riders wanting to be part of it. In May they did a rideout around the Lake District, and 21 Fat Bobs attended the ride, with most booking to stay over on the Friday and Saturday nights. This year’s Fat Bob rideout will be on 27th May, and around 30 bikes and 45 people have already confirmed. Anyone who owns a Fat Bob can come, and can join the FB page (Fat Bob Only Rideout Saturday 27th May 2017), and once again the ride will be around the Lake District (different route this year).

three-wheel enthusiasts. This year’s show has a variety of attractions including live action demonstrations, off-road races, interviews with top racing stars, new 2017 motorcycles, lots of accessories, a round of the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building, the Ace Stunt Starz competition and stunt shows, competitions and much, much more. Tickets cost just 13 Euros a day and motorcycle parking is free – check out www. irishmotor bikeshow.com for more info.

This year’s Bristol Bike Show will be held on 19th August at the usual site at the St Nicholas Market in Bristol, and the big news for 2017 is that they’re going to be running a Biker Build Off competition prior to the event, and the entries will be judged by luminaries from both Zodiac and Custom Chrome! Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more info.

Custom Lids is a small company based in Malta who specialise in bespoke helmet artwork, but they take orders from customers anywhere in Europe. Give them a theme or design and they’ll create a personalised hand-painted helmet for you. They can also supply a new helmet from the Bell, DMD and Biltwell range, and each helmet is a unique piece of mobile artwork created with great pride, passion and enthusiasm as well as attention to detail and a desire to be different. They’ve already undertaken collaborations with Hedon Helmets and 78 Motor Co in the UK, and Lowbrow Customs in the US, they’ve exhibited at the last two Bike Shed shows in London, and have supplied their work worldwide as far afield as the US, Brazil, Australia, Germany and France! If you want to see their work in the flesh they’ll be exhibiting at the next Bike Shed show in May or you can check them out on Instagram (customlid) or Facebook (customlidsmalta) or you can email customlidsmalta@ gmail.com

Ahead of its third season of transporting bikes between the UK and Geneva, Bikeshuttle has announced that it’ll also be offering group booking discounts from 2017. If groups or clubs of 10 riders or more all book at the same time, Bikeshuttle will deduct 10% of the usual fare, making the return price for one bike just £391.50, a saving of £43.50 on list price. Bikeshuttle is the only weekly scheduled service transporting bikes to central Europe, and is proving very popular with touring motorcyclists as it not only saves them the tedium of riding the 1,500mile return motorway trip through France, but it also affords them more time discovering great alpine routes; up to three days more time. Bikes are dropped off at their East Midlands depot where they’re loaded on to a purpose-built lorry, which travels overnight through France to Geneva. You then fly to Geneva, arriving fresh to start your touring adventure the following morning. For more info, see their website at www. bikeshuttle.co.uk MARCH 2017
