So this is winter, is it? I don’t like it much…
Don’t get me wrong, I like some bits of winter – I don’t mind the cold, I’m just not that keen on having to go out and ride motorbikes in rain so heavy you keep looking in your mirrors for large wooden boats carrying lots of animals. It’s mid-November as I write this and, this morning, I had to take the Niken over to the local Yamaha dealer for a much-needed service. The forecast running up to today hadn’t been great all week, and when I awoke I could hear cars splashing through what was rapidly becoming an ever-expanding lake on the road outside the house. Joy.
My usual first-thing scan of social media turned up the fact that the local dual carriageway, the main arterial route through East Anglia, was closed both ways exactly where I was due to join it and, as it’d be the middle of rush hour when I did so, that meant absolute traffic chaos. In heavy rain. On flooded roads. Even more joy.
