Visitors are often surprised to find a robust pub scene in the shadow of swaying palm trees. This is especially true of public houses founded in the Irish tradition: those bastions of great music, dark beer, hearty food and good company. In honor of St. Paddy’s Day, we share some of our favorites. By Brooke Fehr THE HARP & CELT Located in Downtown Orlando, The Harrp & Celt prides itself on being the perfect local hangout for catching this week’s football match up (and yep — we mean soccer.)

But that’s not all. With a cozy interior that’s meant to encourage conversation, and not drown it, The Harp & Celt is a great spot for catching up with friends or swapping news with the barkeep over a pint.

Look for monthly Traditional Open Irish Sessions, during which local musicians gather to play historic and popular Irish songs. While the menu offers solid classics like Cottage Pie and traditional Irish Breakfast during brunch on the weekends, monthly Curry Nights hold the promise of a variety of authenitic Indian curry dishes, and require advance reservations. 25 S. We want people to have a feeling of warmth and welcome. We’re all about con versation and inclusiveness.” But there’s more to be had than atmosphere. The pub offers 86 different whiskeys and has 24 beers on tap, including imports and crafts. But it’s the food that often surprises guests, as authentic dishes are made from scratch. Guests are treated to nightly live music and Irish step dancing with an ever-changing lineup of musical talent representing some of Ireland’s best and brightest. And with a new, state of the art sound and projection system, the entertainment rivals the delicious food as reason enough to spend the evening.

Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2018. This beloved event, taking place Feb. 28 - May 28, has become synonymous with springtime in Orlando, and with good reason: if it grows, you’re likely to see it here. TOPIARIES, TOPIARIES, AND MORE TOPIARIES Disney’s iconic topiaries have been delighting guests for decades. But you’ve never seen anything of this magnitude. From classic characters such as Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the Fab Five, to fairytale favorites like Belle, Beast and Snow White, chances are that you’ll find your favorite in flower form among the nearly 100 topiaries on display.

DELICIOUS FOOD Come for the blooms, but stay for the food!

Visit The Goodness Garden Butterfly House to view a myriad of butterfly species who are right at home amid the blooms. Learn about their life cycle, and if you’re lucky, you may even catch a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis.

SPIKE’S POLLEN NATION EXPLORATION During the festival, kids of all ages are invited to participate in a springtime scavenger hunt with Spike, “the bzzzz-iest honey bee at Walt Disney World.”

The Morse, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this season, was founded by Jeannette Genius McKean (1909–89) in 1942 and named for her industrialist grandfather. She and her husband, Hugh F. McKean (1908–95), the Museum’s director until his death, built the collection over a 50-year period. In 1957, when a fire ravaged Tiffany’s Laurelton Hall, the McKeans salvaged all they could from the ruins for the Morse.
