Been green for 15 years PUPILS from 10 Mornington Peninsula schools will join forces with more than 10,000 others across Australia in a “green army that has been working to sustain the environment for the past 15 years. Using science experiments, theatrical performances, songs and comedy, the students will teach each other about environmental issues during the Target Kids Teaching Kids Week, 8-12 September. St Macartan's Parish Primary School will host one of 500 of the week’s events on Friday 12 September. Other schools include Peninsula Specialist College, Woodleigh, Padua, St Joseph's Crib Point, Derinya Primary, Tyabb Primary, St Mary's Hastings, Flinders Christian College and Mornington Park Primary. “St Macartan’s is a leader in sustainability, environmental science teacher Carmela Theobald said. “Our pupils will be presenting workshops and talks on topics such as climate change, conservation, energy, water, and population growth. Throughout its 15 years, Kids Teaching Kids has been enlisting green army recruits to educate themselves, their classmates and their communities about the environment.
