NDHSAA Tournament Sportsmanship Good sportsmanship is conduct which imposes a type of self-control involving honest rivalry, courteous relations and graceful acceptance of results. School spirit is a reflection of those attitudes and behavior. Spectator etiquette requires that we refrain from displaying any action to taunt opponent’s fan section such as carrying flags around the court and stopping to taunt the opponent’s fan section. This may lead to competition among observers which is mistakenly under the guise of good sportsmanship. Spectators are asked to remain in their designated fan section. Approaching the opponent’s fan section for the purpose of taunting and baiting will not be tolerated. Also, carrying of flags around the court will NOT be allowed! The use of profanity at ANY TIME will NOT be tolerated. Good sportsmanship shall be defined as those qualities of behavior which are characterized by generosity and genuine concern for others. An awareness is expected concerning the impact of an individual’s influence on the behavior of others. Good sportsmanship is viewed as a concrete measure of the understanding and commitment to fair play, ethical behavior and integrity. 2022 Super Region 2

Thoughts On The Season:

Our season was a little of an up and down season. I felt that we let some games go that we definitely should have won, also in some of the losses, we just did not do the little things, like rebound and take care of the ball like we are capable of doing. Overall, I still feel like we have improved in certain areas over the season.

Keys For Tournament Success: Keys for us in the tournament will be rebounding and limiting our turnovers. Controlling the tempo, run the fast break when we can, and also slow it down and run the offenses when we need to. Shooting the ball with confidence, offensive rebounding will be very important for us. Most importantly is to have fun.

Coach’s Comments Thoughts On The Season: We have had a tough year offensively but the boys play hard and rebound very well. As a team we average over 9 offensive rebounds a game. This is key for us to have success. We also share the ball well, as we average over 9 assists a game.

Coach’s Comments Thoughts On The Season: I think that this season for us as a team was one where you really did not know what you were going to get at the start of the season, and that rang true for a good stretch of the regular season. We had a lot of spots to fill in our rotation from the team from last year and we were looking for some guys to step up and fill those roles. It wasn't easy right away, but I feel that we are playing our best basketball at the right time and we will look to make a deep postseason run.

Keys For Tournament Success: For us to have a good tournament run, we are going to need to start everything with our defense. When we are at our best is when we are active and getting stops which leads us into our offense. Just like for most teams, we are going to need our defense to step up for us. Making a lot of shots wouldn't hurt either!

Coach’s Comments Thoughts On The Season: Region 2 was very competitive during the regular season, which should make for a great tournament. Defensively, the Burros were solid throughout the season and showed improvement offensively as the season progressed. Rebounding and taking care of the basketball have also been big keys for the team.

Keys For Tournament Success: The tournament should be exciting as there are a number of teams that could put three good games together. Defense and rebounding are always key at tournament time.

Coach’s Comments Thoughts On The Season: The Polar Bears had no senior leadership this season and only one returning varsity starter, freshman Avery Gratton from last year. The Bears are very young with limited varsity experience which made it difficult to put points on the board. There were multiple starting lineup changes due to sickness and other obstacles, so all rostered players got court time – which is huge for our program. The Polar Bears finished strong each game and they prepared each day to be better the next time they stepped on the floor.

Keys For Tournament Success: All players must play their role on the team, shoot when they are given opportunities and work their hardest on defense.

Patriot basketball grew a lot throughout the season. We have established a solid work ethic and have put things together at the right time. It took awhile for the team to understand the expectations and roles but we are playing good basketball at the right time. We battled a number of the top teams in the region/state and have shown we can compete with anyone.

In order for Patriot basketball to be successful we will need to be consistent. We need to play our style of basketball for 32 minutes. We will need every person that steps on the floor to contribute in some fashion. Rebounding and ball control will always be points of emphasis as well. I expect our team to attack on offense and play great team defense down the stretch. It should be a fun tournament!

Coach’s Comments Thoughts On The Season: Our season has been a series of highs and lows due to our inexperience we had coming into the season. We continue to improve in different aspects of the game either in practice or in games. This season has been a good learning experience for our young team that will allow them to gain valuable experience that they can take in to the upcoming years of their careers.

Keys For Tournament Success: For us to be successful in the tournament, we will have to play good team defense. We will need to switch our defenses to keep our opponents off balance and be able to cause some turnovers to get us some easy baskets. On offense, we will all need to be threats to score and look to have good ball movement to allow our players to get the opportunities that will allow us to have success.

Coach’s Comments Thoughts On The Season:

We have had a pretty solid season leading up to this point. We, like most HS basketball teams, have had some ups and downs, but have been learning from those low points and hopefully are playing our best basketball at the right time.

Keys For Tournament Success:

I think in order for us to have a successful region tourney we need to lean on our defense a little. We have played pretty solid defense this year and that can't change. We need to take care of the basketball, limit 2nd chance points.

Thoughts On The Season: Through the ups and downs of the season, the boys have had a great attitude and worked extremely hard. We have learned a lot about who we are, what our roles are, and what we can/can't do. Now we need to play as one cohesive unit offensively and defensively and do the things that make us successful. I'm extremely proud of this group and who they are. They have much to be proud of and hopefully that translates to a great regional tournament.

Thoughts On The Season: As a coaching staff, we're very pleased with how things have gone this season so far. We feel that we've grown as a team over the course of the past 20 games. We know that the most important part of our season is now, so hopefully we can continue to take positive steps forward.

Keys For Tournament Success: On the offensive end of the floor, we need to work on consistency with our shot selection and movement without the ball. We can't afford to have poor possessions which lead to run outs for the other team. On the defensive end, we need to protect our HEART and keep people on one side of the floor at all times. We also need to be tough on the boards and make sure we limit teams to one shot.
