NDHSAA Tournament Sportsmanship

Good sportsmanship is conduct which imposes a type of self-control involving honest rivalry, courteous relations and graceful acceptance of results.

School spirit is a reflection of those attitudes and behavior. Spectator etiquette requires that we refrain from displaying any action to taunt opponent’s fan section such as carrying flags around the court and stopping to taunt the opponent’s fan section. This may lead to competition among observers which is mistakenly under the guise of good sportsmanship.

Spectators are asked to remain in their designated fan section. Approaching the opponent’s fan section for the purpose of taunting and baiting will not be tolerated. Also, carrying of flags around the court will NOT be allowed! The use of profanity at ANY TIME will NOT be tolerated.

Good sportsmanship shall be defined as those qualities of behavior which are characterized by generosity and genuine concern for others. An awareness is expected concerning the impact of an individual’s influence on the behavior of others. Good sportsmanship is viewed as a concrete measure of the understanding and commitment to fair play, ethical behavior and integrity.

Coach’s Comments

Thoughts On The Season:

We have been up and down most of the season. With that being said, we have played some very good basketball in alot of games. Our effort can never be questioned. We have some of the best shooters in the area. Overall, we feel we let a few games slip away. But very proud of how these boys never quit, and just play.

Keys For Tournament Success: Every night these guys have brought great effort and energy. We need to rebound the ball better at times, and play our style, and tempo. We need all of our guys be a factor, and get the scoring from these guys like they are capable of doing.

Thoughts On The Season:

We have had an up and down year with only having one returning starter from last year so we have struggled at times to adjust to varsity level competition. I have been happy with how our kids have responded to adversity this year, they have had great attitudes and come to practice every day ready to work. In the games where we have played well this year, we have been able to take care of the ball and rebound.

Thoughts On The Season:

This season has been one where we knew there was going to be a lot of growing that took place over the course of the season. We had a lot of guys step up into new roles, and were finally getting comfortable into those roles going late into the season. We have a pretty young team, but this year was one for growth and I believe that each game we took a step in the right direction.

Keys For Tournament Success:

In order for us to be successful come tournament time, we are going to need to be smart with the basketball and continue to work our hardest on the defensive side of the ball. We do a pretty good job of holding teams below their scoring average, and if we can

Coach’s Comments

Thoughts On The Season:

Region 2 was very competitive during the regular season, which should make for a great tournament. Rebounding and taking care of the basketball have been big keys for the team during the season.

Keys

For Tournament Success:

The tournament should be exciting as there are a number of teams that could put three good games together. Defense and rebounding are always key at tournament time.

Coach’s Comments

Thoughts On The Season:

This young team has really come along since the beginning of the season. We have some exciting and skilled players that bring energy and like to compete at all times. Our overall win/ loss record does not reflect the type of season we had. The Polar Bears lost 6 games by a total of 14 points, 4 of those games had region points at stake. With several close game scenarios, each player is developing and understanding their role as it relates to securing wins. Good things are coming!

includes controlling our offensive possessions and shot selection. The Polar Bears aggressive defensive effort this season has certainly been a big key to the energy we need on the floor to be successful. We have some guys that like to get after it on defense and cause chaos which brings intensity and additional scoring opportunities. This must continue for the Bears to slow down our opponent's ability to score coupled with offensive execution.

Coach’s Comments

Thoughts On The Season:

Patriot basketball has had a good year leading up to the Region 2 Tournament. We have made great strides on both ends of the floor and are playing our best basketball at the right time. We have had a number of guys step up that have limited varsity experience. Our leaders have led by example with their play and it has been a very enjoyable year for everyone involved in the program.

Keys For Tournament Success:

To be successful in the tournament we need to work as one team, like we have done all year. That starts on the defensive side of the ball. We need to limit second chance opportunities to our opponents and be physical while rebounding. If we want to play in the last game of the

tournament we will have to have everyone that touches the floor in a Patriot's jersey contribute in some aspect. Those contributions may come in a variety of ways but most important are defense and rebounding.

Coach’s Comments

Thoughts On The Season:

Overall, I have been very satisfied with our season to this point. We have played guys with little varsity experience and they have contributed greatly. We definitely want to play at an uptempo pace. Our size requires us to use our quickness and court awareness to take advantage of mismatches with our opponents. We are at the point in a season where we need to put it all together and allow our abilities to shine in important games. We are a fun group to watch who when sharing the ball and pushing the tempo can make a run in the regional tournament.

Keys For Tournament Success:

For us to be successful in the tournament we will have to play

good team defense. We will need to switch our defenses to keep our opponents off balance and be able to cause some turnovers to get us some easy baskets. On offense, we will all need to be threats to score and look to have good ball movement to allow our players to get the opportunities that will allow us to have success.

Coach’s Comments

Thoughts On The Season:

North Border boys have had a solid season so far. The boys are working hard to continually get better and be a more well rounded team. We have been a high scoring team that plays solid defense. We have continually gotten better at sharing the ball and making that extra pass for an open look and we keep getting better at communicating on defense in order to help each other out and play solid team defense.

Keys For Tournament Success:

In order for us to have a successful regional tournament, we need to limit second chance points, communicate defensively, and knock down our shots.

Coach’s Comments

Thoughts On The Season:

Region 2 has been a battle once again every night of the season and it should be an excellent regional tournament with multiple teams capable of making a run to the state tournament. The Aggies have had some ups and downs this season but the boys worked hard every day, have had a positive attitude, and did what we asked of them each day. This is all you can ask for as a coach. We have overcome a lot of adversity this season and hopefully that will have us battle tested and ready for anything at the regional tournament. We have grown a lot as a team and individuals are are playing some of our best basketball lately. We have shown we can play with top teams for stretches of games. If we continue to improve each day and focus on the process required to be successful; it is my hope we will be able to play good basketball and compete at the regional tournament.

Coach’s Comments

Brandy George

Top performers

After graduating three starters, we had some big shoes to fill. As the season has gone on, we've learned a lot about ourselves and the effort it takes to compete in this region. We've had some growing pains along the way, but have continued to improve daily.

Thoughts On The Season: Keys For Tournament Success:

Our success will be determined by our ability to rebound and defend for 32 minutes. On the offensive end, we need to be disciplined and work to get quality shots.

Good Luck Tommies!
