Midwestern United States is projected to attract and generate high travel demands throughout the country and to serve as a corridor for the establishment of a multimodal transport hub connecting major metropolitan cities. In 2015, the US Department of Transportation launched the Smart City Challenge — a program to use emerging technologies to create an integrated, first-of-its-kind smart transportation system geared toward the future of urban transport. The creation of the Cincinnati Uptown Corridor represents the first step in upending this program to upgrade this midwestern city into a major transportation hub of multimodal transportation options for the future rapid, explosive development of the city.
