If you are looking for a venue to watch the football this June, The Moreton Hall Community Centre is always accommodating. More use of your mobile I received this in an email from a friend and I thought it would be worth sharing with you. EMERGENCY The emergency number worldwide for a mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of your coverage area of your mobile and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you. Should you ever be forced to withdraw cash against your will, you can notify the police by simply entering your PIN number in reverse. For example, if your PIN is 1234 then you enter 4321, the ATM machine recognises your PIN number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine. The machine will still give you the cash you requested but unknown to the robber the police will be on the way to your location.
TEMPORARY PARK AND RIDE To cope with exceptional demands for car parking, such as the pre-Christmas weekends, St Edmunds Christmas Fayre and other events in town, a park and ride scheme is proposed from a site on Rougham Airfield. Talks are underway with the owners regarding this matter. This will complement other park and rides around Bury which are much needed during these busy times. I will keep you updated, if and when I have more news.

Inspired by Nature Moreton Hall’s Monthly Nature Watch by Woodland Ways Last month’s article was about the nightingale; how it has inspired poets and story tellers over the centuries. Year 2 at Sebert Wood School were recently inspired by a visit to 10 Acre Field, on Symonds Road. Classes 3 and 4 each wrote a poem about it. Class 4’s poem will come next month, and here is Class 3’s superb poetry. We went down to the meadow – by Class 3, Sebert Wood School We went down to the meadow We looked all around us We looked up and down And we saw....
We went down to the meadow we listened all around we listened far and near and we heard....
a pheasant walking through the cowslips a woodlouse curled up in a ball candle shaped flowers on a tree yellow roundish buttercups growing with the grass
the wind making the trees flow the wind blowing past my ears bees buzzing, children chattering birds tweeting trying to talk
big bushy bushes tall leaves full of trees prickly brown conker shells tiny purple flowers in the grass We went down to the meadow we looked all around we looked far away And we saw.... little houses in the town and the cloud factory a big bundle of trees all different green a tall thin tower and a pointy steeple three chimneys on the brewery and some foggy smoke

We went down to the meadow we sniffed all around we sniffed around, up and down and we smelt.... the cold breeze fresh air smells nice the horses hair the cowslips smelt like they were happy We went down to the meadow we liked it a lot we liked going for a walk it felt like spring we made up a haystack story we saw a secret passage the meadow was super big like a giants footprint

You will see from our ad opposite for our all age at of worship for June that we are focusing on the fact that God values everyone. You may think no one loves you but God does and in fact our low opinion of ourselves often hides from us that fact that many around us think more of us that we even realise. When people find that out and get their lives together they then go on to be much more content people and start doing good things for others. One example is all the people who turned up in the wet to do our Christian Aid fun run. It was a great success despite the weather. Many thanks to our Mayor Patsy Warby and her consort Frank for being with us for this event. We promise to make it a bigger and more challenging event next year.

Thank you to all who helped with and gave to Christian Aid week this year. Money is still coming in as I write, but we are well on our way to topping ÂŁ3,000 from both events. Sadly, we will be closing our parent and toddler group from half term. This group has been in operation continuously since 1994 but the present team of volunteers has reduced in numbers, and those who remain do not enjoy good health. We therefore feel that we can no longer offer the same quality of service. We note that adequate childcare can be found elsewhere. However, Christ Church Moreton Hall will keep the need for childcare under active review. We thank those who have written in offer to help and we
are now confident if we can find sufficient leaders and volunteers something will be organised to take it’s place, possibly in early autumn. We would like to thank all those who have worked so hard for many years for their loyal and dedicated service, all their efforts have been greatly appreciated, by many on the estate. It is because God values us all, that everything we do at Christ Church is designed to help people. Help them to realise that they are valued and that Jesus has a better life for us to enjoy with him. As we move into a time of financial hardship we will have to ask what really matters
Fun Run organiser the Rev Jonathan Alderton-Ford of Christ Church discusses the event with St Edmundsbury Mayoress Pat Warby and her husband Frank.

questions like “is my worth just my credit rating or the quality of my possessions. Alternatively, do we have a greater worth? The answer is yes, you do, because that is why Jesus came and died on a cross. So you could be set free from sin and have a better life in this world and in the one to come. All he asks you is that you join in with all he is doing to make this world better. Things like Christian Aid that will save a life with every 50p collected. Or a parent and toddler group, where we want to help stay at home mums and their children to draw closer to each other and to Jesus. Time to think again for if you are valued by God, why not do something in the light of this great truth. Why not come and find out more.

Finally... the World Cup! by Andrew Southwood
As I sit down and watch the first of 64 live football matches in the space of 5 glorious weeks I expect, no – I demand, that my son shares my interest in every kick of every match. The 11th June will indeed represent my first major Father/Son bonding session, an experience to savoir, on par with his first pint and wedding day. I’d love to be able to tell people how he loyally sat beside
me slumped on the sofa watching USA’94 at 3am), I won’t actually be able to watch every match, but (don’t tell the wife) I’ll give it a damn good go! Mundane chores such as working, eating, sleeping and communicating with other human beings will inevitably get in the way of Ghana vs Serbia or some other similarly less glamorous fixtures. On the 12th June my son, like it or not, will be sat on my lap, as John Terry (errr… hang on I think that’s
his doll in the toy kitchen… until at least the end of the national anthems! Nevermind, it’s probably best I don’t mentally scar him with another miserable summer of sporting underachievement and heartbreak. I’m sure he’ll have plenty of opportunities to embrace that national institution in years to come. At this stage I must also pass on my sincere congratulations to

Just to be sure he knows who to cheer for, he’ll have his criminally overpriced, and no doubt heavily stained, replica toddler England kit on (I should also mention that this was a gift from Nanny and not something my wife would allow in the house under normal circumstances). I have every confidence he wont want to be playing cooking with
Bury Town for their championship winning season. Ram Meadow was buzzing this year, and I look forward to introducing my son to the dizzy heights of the Zamaretto Premier League next season. In the meantime, South Africa’s festival of football should wet our appetites. Finally, apologies in advance for the shortness/ lameness of next month’s column – it’s going to be a busy month!

Could your child be a Model? IT’S EVERY PARENT’S prerogative to think that their child is the most beautiful, lovely and wonderful little being in the world. But what if everyone else seems to thinks so too? Does that mean she’s a potential child model? And if so, what should you do? There are plenty of job opportunities for the right children, think of the countless ads and editorial spreads where children are
used – from baby products to insurance campaigns, it’s across the board. With around 20 modelling agencies across the UK, each with several hundred children on their books, it is a competitive world. There are lots of stunning children out there, all vying for similar jobs, It’s not unusual for agencies to receive more than 200
applications a week from parents of would-be child models – but 95 per cent get rejected by return post. Even if your child is beautiful, he or she might not have what it takes. Looking great in the flesh, doesn’t always translate on camera. The photographer looks for something more. A painfully shy child is an instant no, the first thing angencies look for as a child walks through the door is whether they have any life in them. They have to be enthusiastic, and make plenty of eye contact. The best models are happy and natural, don’t mind being photographed and love dressing up. They need to enjoy being the centre of attention, and it’s hard work. Imagine standing still for ten to 15 minutes with everyone focused on you. It’s quite full-on. If you like rigid routine, forget it. You and your children have to be really flexible. They need to get up early, eat at odd hours, wait around between shots and not mind long journeys to and from a location. And while some clients try to shoot at weekends and school holidays, this is often not the case. So, if your child is behind with schoolwork or finds it hard to catch up, missing school is not a good idea.
16
themhd
community&family Is the world of child modelling all about glamorous locations and pots of money? Er, not exactly. You also need to be quite realistic about what a shoot involves. For a start, there is a lot of waiting around between shots. Parents should attend shots well prepared with plenty of books, paper, pencils, drinks and snacks. And even if your child gets a job, there is still no guarantee the pictures will be used. For lots of commercials, they tend to book a variety of ‘types’ of children, not deciding until the day who they will use. Being the parent of a child model is a big commitment in itself. You have to be prepared to be available at short notice, usually the next day. You just can’t go into it half-heartedly, juggling your offspring’s careers can, at times, be fairly demanding. Then there’s the question of how you – let alone your child – will behave on a shoot. Parents need to be able to console, or entertain where necessary, but also know when to step back. Even if you’ve ticked all the right boxes, your address could stymie your child’s chances. Some children won’t be considered because they live too far away. It’s not fair on children to travel from Godknows-where to a London studio for an hour’s work. There is work in London, Manchester and Liverpool.
If you haven’t been put off yet, the first step is to send a photograph of your child to a reputable agency. Natural shots are what most agencys are looking for, so forget the spray tans, make-up etc. This means not answering small ads for photographers or talent scouts who offer ‘professional pictures’. These people will just rip you off. On the back of the picture, write your child’s name, age and contact details and send with an SAE. It is not essential to write a covering letter, unless there is something of specific interest to say about your child. To find a reputable agency, it pays to do a little homework. Contact advertising agencies, magazines, catalogues and clothing companies to see which agencies they use regularly. If poss ible, visit the agency. Then assess your surroundings. Are the telephones ringing? Is there a model book? Is there evidence of recent work lying around? If they decide to take you on, most agencies will expect you to pay a fee upfront. This will cover the cost of photographs to be included in the agency’s ‘model book’ and could cost anything from £125 to £225. Your agency will send the model book out to clients; set up auditions, or ‘castings’; organise payment (and take around 25 per cent commission) and secure you
a licence. The licence is a Government requirement for all children aged from six months to 16 years. It is applied for through your Local Education Authority (LEA), regardless of whether your child has started school. LEA requirements can vary from area to area, but generally a licence will enable your child to work between 20 to 30 times over a six-month period. So how regular might the work be? It varies, there can be instances where they will phone parents three times in a week, then it can be months before they make contact again. It depends on what requests come in. On average, expect between four and 20 jobs a year. Equally, the money can vary – from £40 a job to thousands. The average rate is around £40 an hour, but you will also get paid for going on castings (around £25). Advertising pays considerably more than editorial work but it is also much harder to get. Loads of children go to auditions for commercials and it is really competitive. But who’s to say you won’t get lucky? You just might hit the jackpot and get an ad campaign that will potentially pay your child’s university fees. Most parents, however, don’t seem to be in it for the money, but for the memories the photographs will bring. themhd

Contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team East – Moreton Hall on 01284 774100 As the weather has now really improved, I am seeing more and more of you out and about on the estate. As the weather gets better, we get more issues of anti social behaviour and I would ask all people to be considerate towards one another and just think ‘DOES WHAT I AM DOING, IMPACT ON OTHER PEOPLE IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD?’ Be a good neighbour to each other. FREE ACTIVITIES FOR TEENAGERS! Aged 13 yrs-19 yrs –Teenage kicks - Football, Street dance, every Friday night at the sports centre 19:30 - 21:00 hrs and kickboxing starting on 2nd July 2010. HAVE YOU GOT SOME SPARE TIME? – We are looking for some volunteers to help with young person activities on the Moreton Hall on a Friday evening – please contact PC Owen - telephone 01284 774100 asap. Thank You. PARKING OUTSIDE SEBERT WOOD SCHOOL – Many of our residents at the Safer Neighbourhood meeting in April 2010, have raised this real problem and serious concern
of inconsiderate parking outside our school. This is a real hazard for children and all it needs is for everyone to be considerate in their vehicle parking, when dropping off at school. PLEASE park legally, avoid parking enforcement and most of all, keep the SAFETY of children in your thoughts, to prevent injury or accidents. CRIME IN YOUR AREA: Kempson Way, between 10.00 am 18/04/10 and 7.00 am 19/04/10 Tow hitches have been stolen from two VW Transporter vans in a parking area. Calls in relation to this incident should be made to the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB), via central switchboard on 01284 774100. Bunting Road, between 5.00 pm 11/05/10 and 12.00 pm 12/05/10 a catalytic converter has been stolen from a white Iveco van in a car park. Calls in relation to this incident should be made to Sgt Steve Tully. PLEASE BE ALERT WHEN OUT SHOPPING There have been reports of a few purse thefts from people whilst out
shopping, we should like to remind you to please be aware of anybody who may approach you and distract you – one victim was stopped and asked for change, allowed the person to look in their purse then found that a substantial amount of money had gone missing from their purse. Keep your purse, bag, wallet close to you at all times and do not let a stranger distract your attention from your belongings at any time. We had a similar motive late last year with offenders distracting/confusing cashiers at supermarkets, when asking for change. Films for
June… SEX AND THE CITY 2 12A
ROBIN HOOD
Director: Ridley Scott Starring: Russell Crowe, Mark Strong, Cate Blanchett, Danny Huston, William Hurt Russell Crowe stars as England’s greatest rebel hero in this epic adventure directed by Ridley Scott. In 13th Century England, expert archer Robin (Russell Crowe) is a veteran of King Richard’s campaigns against the French. After Richard’s death, Robin travels to Nottingham, a town suffering from the corruption of a despotic sheriff. There, he encounters the spirited widow Lady Marian (Cate Blanchett). Hoping to earn the hand of Maid Marian and restore the fortunes of the local people, Robin b ecomes a forest crusader. He assembles a tough and resourceful gang whose mercenary skills are matched by their appetite for life. Taking on the indulgent upper class, they aim to correct the Sheriff’s injustices. With their country weakened from decades of war, embattled from the ineffective rule of the new king and vulnerable to insurgencies from within and threats from afar, Robin and his men heed a call to ever greater adventure.
Director: Michael Patrick King 15 Starring: Kristin Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattral, Cynthia Nixon The sequel to 2008 blockbuster Sex And The City reunites Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) with her three best friends - Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon). But where would these women be without their men? Also back for the muchanticipated sequel are Mr Big (Chris Noth), Steve (David Eigenberg), Harry (Evan Handler), Smith (Jason Lewis), Anthony (Mario Cantone) and Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson). Sex and the City 2 also reunites the original creative team from the phenomenally successful TV series and the first feature. Michael Patrick King is once again directing from his own screenplay. “We are thrilled to have the luxury to continue to tell the story of these four iconic women characters,” he says. “We will do our best to entertain the loyal fans who were so supportive of the recommen first movie.” ds

STREET DANCE 3D
Director: Max Giwa, Dania Pasquini Starring: Charlotte Rampling, Nichola Burley, Richard Winsor, George Sampson An explosion of UK dance talent hits the big screen for our very first homegrown street dance movie - in thrilling 3D! A London dance crew training for the UK Street Dance Championships are forced to work with ballet dancers from the Royal Dance School in return for rehearsal space. Led by Tomas (Richard Winsor), the ballet squad are perplexed and resentful. For the street dance mob, headed by feisty Carly (Nicola Burley), it’s like entering a strange new world. Tensions ride high for these two teams with seemingly no common ground. But then they realise they need to join forces in order to win! With thrilling dance sequences, StreetDance 3D highlights a diverse cast of emerging talent including Nichola Burley and Richard Winsor, with teen dance idol George Sampson making his debut screen performance. The film also features dance sensations Diversity, winners of Britain’s Got Talent 2009, and BGT finalists and Street Dance Champions Flawless.

Summer Pudding A true celebration
Method
summer pudding is a
Prepare the fruit, by taking off any stalks and picking out any unripe or mouldy berries.
of summer, an English must for a Sunday
lunch in berry season.
Vibrant in colour, oozing rich purple juice, with the perfect tart/
sweet balance, it is
one of those traditional puddings that is still a
jewel of British cuisine. Ingredients 850g / 2lbs mixed berries – preferably about 600g raspberries and the rest redcurrants about 8 slices of good quality white bread 3 tablespoons white sugar 3 tablespoons water
36
themhd
Put the berries in a pan over a low heat and add the water and sugar. Check the fruit for sweetness before adding the sugar. You may need less for very sweet berries and more if they are quite tart. Bring to a simmer and cook briefly for 3-4 minutes over a low heat until the juice has run and the fruit is tender but still retains its shape. Remove from the heat. Taste the juice for sweetness. It should still be a little tart but not mouth-dryingly so. Add a little more sugar if necessary. Cut thick slices of bread and remove the crusts. It really is best to use a good quality loaf rather than cheap sliced loaves, as it absorbs the juice better and has a better end result. You can use slightly stale bread too with good results.
Line a 1 litre pudding basin with the bread. You’ll have to cut some of the slices to fill the gaps and make a well-fitting patchwork, so that there are no spaces for the juice to escape. Keep one or two slices to cover the top of the bowl. Spoon the fruit and juice into the lined bowl until it comes nearly to the top. Put the last slices of bread on top and patch the gaps again. Put a small plate or saucer on top of the bowl so that it can compress the fruit and bread. Add a weight to help. You might want to stand the bowl on another plate to catch any escaping juice. The weight helps make the juice soak into the bread and compresses the fruit to a firm pudding consistency. Leave overnight in the fridge. To serve, loosen around the edges of the pudding basin with a palette knife, then turn it onto a serving plate. Serve with plenty of thick cream.

“Bend & Blend”
A combination of dietary tips, mind/body exercises and latest research blended together to promote health & vitality. This month we look at the art of MEDITATION and learn how, despite it’s perception as being “only for those people who are stressed” there are proven physical and psychological benefits to this ancient science. Research has scientifically proven that meditation is a safe and simple way to balance your physical, emotional, and mental state. Its countless values have been known and practiced for thousands of years and today, more and more doctors promote the benefits of meditation to help with a variety of ailments. The romantic notion of quitting everything and joining Tibetan monks on a mountaintop is not the only way to meditate. You don’t need to quit your job, give up your possessions and spend 30 years chanting. Recent research indicates that meditating brings about dramatic effects in as little as a 10-minute session Some of the benefits of meditation are:-

feeling. Many of us get caught in one side or the other. We may be thinking excessively all day, or awash with emotion. Meditation balances these. You become capable of clear thinking while still in tune with your emotional responses. General health indications. The medical evidence suggests that meditation can be particularly effective with insomnia, migraines, asthma, chronic pain, hypertension, allergies and recovery after illness. It frequently has positive results with psychosomatic disorders of the skin, digestive tract and nervous system. The anecdotal evidence indicates that meditation acts occasionally as a “magic bullet”. Insomniacs and migraine sufferers are most likely to report quick and lasting results. Meditation can strip off the top 20 per cent of tension that triggers insomnia or a migraine attack. We may feel that inner peace is impossible because the world or our life is in chaos. Yet tranquility, however fleeting, is always with us when we relax. In those moments when we fully enjoy the beauty of nature our fear and anger are suspended, whatever the day was like. Concentration and Stress Stress undermines our ability to concentrate. If we try to think and do a dozen different things at once, we do none of them well. Meditation trains us to focus on one thing at a time. We become skilled at discarding the mental trivia and unproductive obsessions. This gives space for us to work, so we can bring the entire mind to the task at hand. In general, Meditation can help most people feel less anxious and more in control. If we practice regularly, gradually our distracting thoughts will subside and we will experience a sense of inner peace and relaxation. Our mind will feel clear
health&beauty and we will feel refreshed. So much of the stress and tension we normally experience comes from our mind, and many of the problems we experience, including ill health, are caused or aggravated by this stress. Just by doing simple meditation for ten minutes each day, we will be able to reduce this stress. A meditation class involves sitting or lying in a relaxed position and allowing yourself to be guided through a simple concentration and breathing exercise followed by a therapeutic visualisation. Participants leave the class feeling grounded and calm, a feeling that can be recalled at any time during the following week. Regular practise is recommended for optimum benefit. Research has scientifically proven that meditation is a safe and simple way to reduce anxiety and to enable us to feel more in control of our lives. Several studies have demonstrated that subjects who meditated for a short time showed increased alpha waves (the relaxed brain waves) and decreased anxiety and depression. To explore exactly what part of the brain meditation acts on, researchers at Harvard Medical School used MRI technology on participants to monitor brain activity while they meditated. They
found that it activates the sections of the brain in charge of the autonomic nervous system, which governs the functions in our bodies that we can’t control, such as digestion and blood pressure. These are also the functions that are often compromised by stress. It makes sense, then, that modulating these functions would help to ward off stress-related conditions such as heart disease, digestive problems and infertility. Neuroscientists have found that meditators shift their brain activity to different areas of the cortex - brain waves in the stress-prone right frontal cortex move to the calmer left frontal cortex. This mental shift decreases the negative effects of stress, mild depression and anxiety. There is also less activity in the amygdala, where the brain processes fear. Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, recorded the brain waves of stressed-out employees of a high-tech firm in Madison, Wisconsin. The subjects were split randomly into two groups, 25 people were asked to learn meditation over eight weeks, and the remaining 16 were left alone as a control group. All participants had their brain waves scanned three times during the study: at the beginning of the experiment, when
meditation lessons were completed eight weeks later and four months after that. The researchers found that the meditators showed a pronounced shift in activity to the left frontal lobe. In other words, they were calmer and happier than before. Psychology Today. Walking for health Most people are aware that exercise is good for you. Official recommendations say we should do moderately intense exercise for about 30 minutes, five days a week, in addition to our routine activities of daily life But what does this mean? What counts as exercise? Activities can be divided into two categories, moderate and vigorous, depending on how much energy you use compared to rest. Moderate activities such as brisk walking or recreational swimming use about four times more energy than when you are at rest, hiking about six times more energy. Above this level you are into vigorous activities; race walking, jogging and running, backpacking and mountaineering, team sports like football or rugby. Leaving aside the more vigorous activities, it has been shown that walking as an exercise has many health benefits, such as lower blood pressure, better lung capacity and weight loss. You are less likely to suffer heart disease, diabetes or osteoporosis. You feel better in yourself and have more energy. Best of all it's completely free, you don't

need to join a gym or have a personal trainer! So how do you start? Don't try to do too much too soon. If you have not exercised at all for a long time or have existing health problems then ask your doctor's advice before embarking on any exercise program. Start with a walk to a local landmark or shop, 10 to 15 minutes away. Walk steadily but at a good pace that raises your heart rate and warms you up. Let your arms swing. You may be surprised at how far you can walk in 10 minutes. The walk should be in addition to your normal daily activities, so shopping and taking the dog out don't count! If you can, try to walk for half an hour three times a week. Studies have shown clear health benefits even for this
moderate level of exercise. If you can do more, so much the better. Wear comfortable shoes or trainers and dress to suit the weather. A spot of rain is no excuse! How can your osteopath help? People may find exercise painful, particularly if they have arthritic joints or are recovering from an illness or operation. Your osteopath can assess your posture and functional level and advise on stretching and specific exercises. Good spinal movement is essential when walking and treatment can help correct any restriction, ease painful muscles and release stiff joints. Walking does not have to be a chore. One step is all it takes to get you started! Information provided by Tom Warner at Bury St Edmunds Osteopaths, 01284 769153

Are you ready for Summer? Summer is steadily approaching and many have fallen short with New Year’s resolutions that have a direct correlation with this season. Statistics show that 46% of those who make New Year’s resolutions fall short of their goals by not making it past the first week. Here are five tips that will pave the way for a fun, fruitful summer. Not keeping resolutions does not reflect negatively on people, but it is indeed important to move forward with goals as they prepare for the summer season. Lots of people make New Year’s Resolutions that they hope will serve them in the future such

as to lose enough weight to get into a swimsuit, save enough money to go on holiday, etc. For lots of reasons, many of those resolutions are abandoned. Does it say anything negative about the people making them? No! When preparing for the summer, people need to realise that it is never too late to start and get started. These five tips will pave the way for a fun, fruitful summer. Realise you have fallen short of your summer goals and get started. Coming to the realisation that you have fallen short in your preparation for the summer will set you up to get started. It’s

never too late. Self realisation allows you not to be paralysed in moving forward when accomplishing your goals. It’s about forgiving yourself. Don’t waste time feeling sorry for yourself or beating yourself up about what you haven’t done. Forgive yourself and begin today. Its simple, start small with beginning your workout routine and then try to start eating more healthy meals, go for a walk, or choose fresh fruit instead of chocolate cake. The key is to be real with your self and start today.

health&beauty fun process in itself. Use your environment - the change in the seasons, and other physical factors - to jumpstart you and encourage you to get those serotonin levels and endorphins recharged from the winter. People don’t spend enough time mentally preparing for summer. When we were younger, most of our mothers did spring cleaning. It included exchanging the heavy winter clothes for the lighter spring and summer clothes and cleaning the house from top to bottom. As people, we need to do the same thing. We need to shed ourselves of negative thinking; clear our minds of selfimposed limitations; and get out and enjoy life! Follow your summertime dreams TODAY! Do all the things that you keep putting off - until you lose weight, until you are in a relationship, until you finish school, etc. Life will pass you by - we must begin to live every day to the fullest! Life really is about living! Give yourself a true physical assessment. Give yourself a true physical assessment from head to toe, inside and out. Are you physically ready for the summer sun and less clothing? Are you still carrying around those extra 10 pounds from the winter? Now is the time to start working on shedding those extra pounds. Fine tune your exercise goals, find an exercise you enjoy, and enlist a friend are three steps to get you physically fit. Incorporating these three steps with eating moderately, exercising vigorously,
drinking lots of water and taking at least 15 minutes each day to feed your spirit with prayer, positive affirmations and stillness will put you on track. If you find something you enjoy doing, you are more likely to stick with it. Most of us wouldn’t dream of standing-up a friend up, but we will put off a date to exercise by ourselves. Find a friend who has similar fitness goals and begin to work out together. Serve as accountability partners for each other. The physical is not just the body, invest in getting your skin and hair summer-ready. Now is a good time to do hair conditioning treatments since winter weather can often dry out hair. You want to make sure your hair is just as healthy as your body for summer outdoor activities. The skin is most often forgotten. Because you are outdoors more often in the summer, you want to make sure you have an adequate skin cleansing regiment and the proper and correct SPF level sunscreens for protection. Start with a couple of facials to get rid of that dead skin. For women, you don’t want to wear as much make-up during the summer months. Be sure to stay hydrated, which is good for both women and men. Evaluate your summer wardrobe. The summer season is all about confidence, and your clothes should reflect this. No more winter/spring layers to hide behind. Your summer wardrobe IS the most freeing wardrobe and speaks volumes.
Schools are out, the office is more relaxed, and most places are trying to stay cool in the hot weather. No better time then summer to break the rules and be bold. Make sure you choose clothes that make you feel organic. The more you feel like yourself in your summer attire the more confident you will appear. Summer is the best time to exude your personality through your wardrobe. Don’t be afraid to be daring with your clothes for the summer! What’s more important then DO and DON’T trends is to “DO” what is right for your body type and take into consideration your lifestyle. A “DO” for a jet-setting 21-year-old clubber may not be a “DO” for a 38-year-old, working mother of two. For summer, DO colour, and DON’T be boring. Summer 2010 is about being more creative so you can give your credit cards a break during these tough economic times. Pick a few quality pieces that complement your best assets and make them your fashion staples while you splash in cheap-n-chic fashion panache you find along the way to create your own iconic summer look. Take a short trip to kick off your summer. Put your preparation into play by clearing your schedule to take a short trip to start the summer off right. Tell the boss and clients, you won’t be reachable because you will be kicking off your fun summer on a trip. Taking a short weekend trip can prepare you for longer summer trips that you may take with friends and family.

Fake It!
These Tips For Spray Tanning Will Help You Get The Best Tan...
Spray Tanning: Whether you choose to use a self tanner spray tan, or a spray tanning booth, here are some spray tanning tips...
Choose your clothes carefully - Wear loose fitting clothing, preferably not white to avoid staining from the bronzer which is in most spray tan solutions.
Exfoliate - All the self-tanner in the world will do you no good if it attaches itself to dead skin that is about to come off your body! Use a good exfoliant and loofah sponge in the bath the night before you self-tan to remove these dead skin cells.
If you are going to a tanning salon, follow the instructions! Self-tanning booths typically have a handout, so read up, and make sure you know what to do before stepping inside the booth!
Moisturise - Applying a good water based moisturiser a few hours before you self tan is a great way to make sure your skin is ready to accept the self-tanner.
Completely wipe off after applying your spray tan, you will need to wipe your skin with a towel to catch any drips. Apply cream to your hands and feet - Because these areas
of the skin are usually drier than the rest of you, your hands and feet may get dark faster. If you are spraying yourself, go lightly on the feet. If you are using a booth, use the paper booties (usually offered by staff) to protect your feet or apply a light coating of cream to your hands. Oh! and don’t dye your hair the day after your spray tan - Like I did! I found out that the dye stains very quickly (within seconds) on the skin around the forehead and ears, not wiping away as normal. I had to scrub for ages to remove, so be warned.

Do I still need a tax return? Q: Last year I completed my tax return but received a letter from my tax office stating that I do not need to complete a tax return in the future. However, I purchased a rental property during the 2009/10 tax year and have been renting this out for a small profit. Should I continue to file a tax return even though they have not issued me with one? A: There is a requirement to notify the tax office by 5th October following any tax year where you owe further tax in addition to any tax that has already been deducted at source. As you have made a small profit from your rental income activities then you need to notify the HMRC. This gives them enough time establish if a tax return is required and to issue you with one to complete. However, HM Revenue & Customs are trying to reduce the burden of Self Assessment on taxpayers who have straightforward affairs and have identified some areas where a tax return will still not be required. If your income from rents is less than £2,500 for the year and your other income is from employment where tax is deducted at source, you can just contact the tax office and they should be able to settle your additional tax liability through an adjustment in your PAYE code, and collect the underpaid tax through deductions in your wages each month. This will avoid the onerous task of completing a tax return to show this small amount of income.
km for acquisitions made on or after 6 April 2009 (1 April 2009 for limited companies). For purchases made from April 2002 to April 2008, the maximum emission level for a qualifying vehicle was 120 g/km. To find out if a vehicle will qualify for this enhanced capital allowance, contact the car manufacturer or dealership to check the CO2 emissions. Alternatively, we at TaxLogic will be able to provide you with a list of current low emission cars which meet the criteria for the scheme. headache? The remedy is simple
Tax Relief on New Cars Q: I am self-employed and want to purchase a new motor vehicle for my business this month. A friend told me that if I buy a certain type of car I can receive tax relief on the full cost of the vehicle. Is this correct? A: Cars are treated as capital assets for tax purposes and tax relief is given in the form of annual capital allowances, rather than a deduction for the cost of the vehicle. This means that the cost of buying the vehicle is not deducted when calculating your profit or loss for the year, but instead a proportion of the cost is given as a deduction each year until the vehicle is sold or the full original cost has been deducted. Cars with emissions below 160g/km attract a deduction of 20% of the cost on a reducing scale each year. Cars with emissions over 160g/km are restricted to an annual writing down allowance of only 10%. Your friend may be referring to the special allowance available for lowemission vehicles. Low-emission cars first registered on or after 16 April 2002 attract an allowance for tax purposes of 100% of the cost of the vehicle. In order to qualify, the emission level must not exceed 110 g/

When well covered with the pest remove and dump the plant. They prefer basil to tomatoes. Check the compost heap and if it is dry, damp over with water to speed up the
composting process. Propagate lavender and hebe. Take 2-3 inch long softwood cuttings. Remove the lower leaves and cut the base below a leaf joint. Remove the tip of the shoot. Dip in hormone rooting powder and place the cuttings around the edge of a pot of gritty compost. Water and cover with clear polythene. The cuttings should root n 4-6 weeks. Add grass clippings to the compost heap in thin layers (too much grass all at once is likely to be very wet and poorly aerated, resulting in smelly slime rather than compost).
