It is with great excitement that we launch our MORe Annual Report for the fiscal year October 2012 through September 2013.

All I can say is Wow! What a great year. The market conditions improved, we managed the financial business of the association with the discipline you’ve come to expect from the Board of Directors and we saw more agents becoming more productive. Our industry is poised for a busy 2014 and we can’t wait to help you make the most of the upcoming year. To support and empower your success in 2012-2013, we introduced a number of tools and programs.

The core focus of these efforts is to deliver a remarkable member experience and to be a trusted resource to you .

The highlights of our efforts are included in the Better You section of this report. And, if you haven’t done so already, I encourage you to take advantage of these programs – they are easy to use and come as value-added benefits to your annual membership.

We also made improvements in our ability to deliver top-notch education and training. We established a video-conferencing infrastructure that connects all Mainstreet classrooms (Arlington Heights, Downers Grove, Libertyville and Tinley Park), providing members with the option to attend many classes at the location of their choice. I’m pleased to report that as we move through 2014, we’ll be introducing capabilities that will make it easy for you to take us with you, delivering content to your desktop, tablet and phone. We’ll have more to share on this in the coming months.

With more than 14,500 members we are not a small organization, but we strive to deliver a personal experience in every interaction you have with our staff and leadership. We take pride in the programs and services we offer and invite you to get more involved with us in 2014. Your participation and feedback allow us to get better and deliver more. Financially, Mainstreet is seeing

through new member growth, revenue and the number of transactions our members have completed over the course of the year.

On the operating side of the Mainstreet budget, the organization is run on a balanced budget. Each year, the organization is audited by an independent firm. The independent firm is bid out every five years.

The committee charged with the task of the audit as well as investments is the Audit and Finance Committee. The team is made up of a group of industry experienced individuals and CPAs and meet annually to review the performance of the reserves and to insure that MORe’s financial strength continues to remain strong.

On the budgeting side, Management creates the budget based upon the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. Once the budget has been determined, the board reviews the budget in its entirety to ensure the Organization is following its directives and is reviewed on a monthly basis.

The Global Council offers seminars and workshops at no cost to MORe members to provide agents working or interested in global markets with the tools, knowledge and connections to succeed. The members of the Council are the “go to” resource for help with international transactions. Council highlights include: • Hosting a trade mission from Poland • Securing Mainstreet’s appointment as the NAR Ambassador Association to Sweden • Elevating four Council members to became NAR appointees • Being named to Silver Level in the NAR Global Business Council Achievement Program • Signing AMPI Agreement to encourage referrals between the U.S. and Mexico

The Grievance Committee works to field reports of misconduct and to advance claims with sufficient evidence onto a more formal review process. This dedicated group works tirelessly and confidentially to help keep all MORe members operating at a high standard of professionalism.

This year’s highlights include: • Training of 74 new committee members • Evaluating and filing 120 formal complaints • 100 ethics complaints • 20 arbitration requests • Overseeing 14 mediation requests • 9 resolved

The Grievance Committee works to field reports of misconduct and to advance claims with sufficient evidence onto a more formal review process. This dedicated group works tirelessly and confidentially to help keep all MORe members operating at a high standard of professionalism.

The Professional Standards Committee conducts a full due process hearing with sworn testimony, witnesses and evidence on formal complaints. This well-trained group also decides whether there was a violation of the Code of Ethics, or alternatively, which REALTOR is entitled to the disputed commission. In ethics complaints, members of the committee also determine the disciplinary action required. ®

This year’s highlights include: • Successfully holding and deciding on 70 hearings • Adding 74 newly trained committee members

Serving seniors’ housing needs

The Senior Services Task Force members have all earned the Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) Designation and provide a variety of consumer presentations in their local markets on their unique qualifications to assist seniors in their housing needs. This year the Senior Services Task Force also hosted some great programs for our SRES members. Those programs included: • AARP presentation regarding multi-generational living • Knowing the 10 Signs from the Alzheimer’s Foundation • Fraud and Identity Theft Schemes that prey on seniors from the Attorney General’s Office • Interior Design for Senior Living

Building tomorrow’s real estate leaders is important and the key objective of the Young Professional Network. More than 200 professionals come together multiple times throughout the year to learn from one another and leaders in the industry, network and to give back.

YPN highlights include: • 10+ open meetings held for YPNers to engage with established MORe members • Hosting a meeting for members with technology expert, Jeff Lobb

• Donating their time to the Northern Illinois Food Bank

Loretta Alonzo, a leader in real estate for nearly 40 years, was chosen 2013 REALTOR of the Year for her dedication and service to the real estate industry and her local communities. Loretta is the past president of many real estate organizations including IAR and MRED and has chaired a variety of IAR committees and serves as a board member of NAR. Loretta has dedicated herself to her community through volunteer work with the Easter Seals Society, Grand Havens Veterans Club and the LaGrange Park Chamber of Commerce. ®

Cindy was recognized for her work to increase awareness among the real estate community and raise funds to support over 150 students in District 211 that were identified as homeless.

Dale has been involved with South Suburban PADS, which provides emergency shelter, permanent housing and supportive services to individuals and families who are homeless, formerly homeless or at-risk, since 2006. Dale was recognized for his work helping to raise over $102,220 in donations, helping to fund more than 1,246 shelter nights, 401 meals, a daytime program helping 323 individuals in need with employment and financial assistance.
