TOWN ASEP

TOWN ASEP is back with variations on your favorite After School Activities for the remainder of the school year in 2022! These afterschool enrichment programs will be available to students from all Moraga elementary schools and those in homeschool programs. Classes will take place at the Hacienda de las Flores located at 2100 Donald Drive unless otherwise noted.

RHEEM BUS PASSES—If your child attends Rheem Elementary School, bus service will be available. The Lamorinda School Bus program will be adding an additional bus stop at the Hacienda. Children with an annual bus pass will be able to use this service free of charge.

EXTENDED CARE PROGRAM—The Town will provide an optional extended care program for families in need of childcare until 5:30 pm each day. Extended care will be provided onsite at the Hacienda following dismissal from TOWN ASEP classes. Join us for homework time and fun!

Join Logan and Zoe as they zip around through time and space to investigate history and research their homework!! One week they might go back in time to the era of the dinosaurs or race to the future to study space travel. Each class is a fun and educational LEGO-building adventure with Bricks 4 Kidz. This hands-on class explores STEAM concepts (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) using LEGO Bricks, in which children will develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in a fun and engaging way. So come build with us!!

The Performing Academy is back with a 12-week musical theatre program! Work with teaching artist Renee DeWeese Moran to put on the classic musical THE MUSIC MAN. No experience necessary. Grades 3rd–5th audition for roles, grades 1st–2nd play our ensemble. Final performances with lights, microphones, sets and costumes will be performed at the Lesher Center in downtown Walnut Creek March 24th and 25th. Join us and experience the hard work and excitement of being in a show!

Creativity and imagination soar with Painting with a Twist! This program allows students to discover their artistic side and express their originality. Students will sketch and paint on canvas, and strengthen their fine motor skills by designing and creating. We take their interests into account and always provide new ways for the kids to express themselves.

We believe that creativity is a muscle that needs to be exercised. Please bring an extra shirt or apron to class! Materials fee included in the price.

Get ready to laugh! This class will bring out your child’s inner artist while learning the fine technique of cartooning. Cartoonists and artists, this is the place for you. Students will draw dinosaurs at school, monsters and kids, robots and family photos that will boost their skills and crack us up! Come draw with us!

Get ready to laugh—make this spring a memorable season. Students will learn the essential skills needed to create exciting cartoon characters with expressive faces and dynamic poses. They will develop visual story telling skills as they draw sequential images and jokes. Students will learn to create fun characters based on people, animals, and food. All this and more await our students. Come draw with us!

Spring is in the air, and sweets are our affair!

Join us for a small Egg Hunt in the patio of Canyon Club Brewery! After the egg hunt, Each child will have all the materials needed to decorate cookies, and parents will be able to enjoy a beverage!

Designed for boys and girls with little or no water polo experience. The players will learn the basics of the game while having loads of fun. Splashball is a no-contact program held in a shallow pool and floatation devices are allowed. Students should have basic swim skills: 25 yards free, 25 yards backstroke, 30 seconds tread water.

Learning the fundamentals of Basketball has never been so much fun. Skyhawks Coaches use age-appropriate curriculum and modified equipment to develop skills while building each child’s confidence and passion for the game. Development objectives include dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, defense, game strategy, teamwork, and self-esteem.

This is a virtual Driver’s Education with a live instructor. Students will enjoy a series of Driver’s Education lectures including understanding the responsibilities of having a driver’s license, learning the rules of the road and accident-avoidance procedures.

Independent assignments will also be completed during the week. Course also includes practice questions, defensive driving movies and written test prep. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate of completion. Option to take full course online at your own pace available for $43.

Hoopster Tots was designed to give children a positive first step to the exciting game of Basketball. Yoga Movement & Meditation

Our days are spent in “HURRY MODE.” Rushing commuting, work, family life, life itself! Come to candlelit yoga. Heal in these slower paced evening classes. Focus on restful poses and meditation that calm the nervous system, quieting the mind, and rejuvenating the body.

Moving Meditation with T’ai Chi Chih/Qigong Adult

Jeanne Dowell, former instructor under the US Olympic committee is a pioneer in the yoga movement within the Lamorinda area, has studied throughout the world including the Iyengar institute in India. Basic principles of the unique Iyengar system and how it applies to the aging process will be taught.

She combines her experiences with Zen in her teaching, emphasizing stress reduction, strength, and relaxation.

Age 5.5–11 Join us as we create our own “Happiest Place on Earth” for nine weeks of imagination-themed summer camp fun! Well-trained Town staff will lead your child in organized games, art, crafts, songs, and more all planned around a central theme for the week. Field trips and special activities entertainment each week! Friday drop-off at the Moraga Library, pick-up at Moraga Commons Park.

Does your child play video games? We offer an Esports Development League (competitive video games) with expert coaching and competition for all skill levels between the ages of 9–14. We started Vanta in response to one of our founder’s sons being cyberbullied.

Our team based learning platform provides a safe & structured environment for youth to learn skills that lead to college scholarships and build meaningful friendships.

Have fun volunteering this summer as a Counselor in Training (CIT) at Moraga Day Camp! Gain valuable job skills as you work alongside our Recreation Leaders in a fun and safe environment. After an interview process, accepted participants will be trained in leading camp activities, improve customer service skills, leadership, responsibility, and reliability. Recreation Department staff will provide daily guidance and supervision for CITs. Upon completion of the CIT program, participants are guaranteed an interview for the summer Recreation Leader position when they are old enough.

Fee: If chosen to be a participant, a fee of $75 will be due by the Orientation Night.

Town Staff Camp Commons is a new afternoon camp program that is placing an emphasis on socialization, creativity, and imagination. Each session includes special themed activities and adventures designed to engage the minds, bodies, and spirits of the campers! Well-trained Town staff will lead your child in organized games, art, crafts, songs, and more all planned around a central theme for the week. Please send campers with lunch and a snack. All campers must be registered by the Thursday before the camp week starts.

It may sound silly, but the relaxing effects of the beer can help with meditation, mindfulness, and the consciousness practices of Yoga and It improves balance!

The beer glass is used as an important part of the workout, and you have to transition through the movements without spilling or knocking over your beer. One pint of beer is included in the registration fee.
