TOWN ASEP Town After-School Enrichment Programs TOWN ASEP is back with variations on your favorite after school activities for the 22–23 school year! These afterschool enrichment programs will be available to students from all Moraga elementary schools and those in homeschool programs. Classes will take place at the Hacienda de las Flores located at 2100 Donald Drive unless otherwise noted.

Extended Care Program: The Town will provide an optional extended care program for families in need of childcare until 5:30 pm each day. Extended care will be provided onsite at the Hacienda following dismissal from TOWN ASEP classes. Join us for homework time and fun!

Rheem Bus Passes: If your child attends Rheem Elementary School, bus service will be available. The Lamorinda School Bus program will be adding an additional bus stop at the Hacienda. Children with an annual bus pass will be able to use this service free of charge.

This multi-sport program combines all your favorite Skyhawks sports & games into one action-packed enrichment class. Participants will learn and play fun Skyhawks variations of Baseball, Basketball, Capture the Flag, Dodgeball, Flag Football, Kickball, Soccer, Track & Field, Ultimate Frisbee, and Volleyball. By adding just the right amount of friendly competition, this program teaches boys and girls skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and strategy. Bring your friends or come make new ones. Alternate Indoor Activities will be ready to go for rainy days this winter.

Sessions 1: Ticket to Ride Delve into the history and mechanics of your favorite amusement park rides as students will construct various popular rides with LEGO® bricks. Lessons incorporate principles of physics, described in a way children can understand, such as “G-force” inertia and momentum, as well as math concepts such as “there are 360 degrees in a circle.” These engaging lessons will give students an understanding of the physical forces they experience every day all while reinforcing the STEM and CORE concepts. Session 1: The Science of Pokémon Ever wonder how Magnemite can attach himself to power supplies and metal? Or how Oddish is able to absorb all the nutrients from the ground? What about how Fearow can soar? In the Science of Pokémon™ kids will learn about some of their favorite Pokémon™ characters and how their powers work. For each lesson in this STEM based class, students will conduct different experiments related to specific Pokémon™ characters. Session 3: The Science of Minecraft In this Minecraft themed STEAM Class, students will learn the fundamentals of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math as they exist in the Minecraft realm. Session 4: CSI: Moraga Session 3: Transportation Timeline and Things that GO! Dive into the history and mechanics of things designed to move! If you like planes, trains and automobiles, then this unit is for you. Each week, students will build motorized models of a dragster or an airplane and more. Explore the history of transportation from horse and buggy and trains to the development of the automobile and flight. Each lesson introduces key terminology related to each mode of transportation, like lift and propulsion for the airplane, as well as describes how each vehicle works all while reinforcing the STEM and CORE concepts. In this STEM based class, kids will work on a new clue every week to help solve the case of the stolen bike! Glee Club is a weekly ensemble performance class where students sing, learn fun dance moves, and staging while singing their hearts out to their favorite songs. Splashball Lamorinda Water Polo Staff

Designed for boys and girls, ages 5 to 9 years old, with little or no water polo experience. The players will learn the basics of the game while having loads of fun. Splashball is a no-contact program held in a shallow pool and flotation devices are allowed. Students should have basic swim skills: 25 yards free, 25 yards backstroke, 30 seconds tread water. This skill-based clinic was designed to give players a competitive advantage on the court. Through interactive drills, skill reinforcement games, and simulated scrimmages, young athletes develop the skills, strategy, confidence, and passion, to take the next step in their basketball career. Our development objectives include ball control, dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, agility, offensive/defensive strategy, teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-esteem. Skyhawks coaches provide a positive environment where players of all abilities can participate in friendly competition with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun!

Skyhawks Volleyball Clinics Skyhawks Volleyball Clinics are a fun and positive introduction to the exciting game of Volleyball. Using our age-appropriate curriculum and modified equipment, participants learn Volleyball fundamentals and social skills through a series of fast-paced instructional circuits and developmental games. Participants explore balance, body movement, coordination, self-esteem, teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development, with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun! Skyhawks Coaches create a safe and interactive setting that develops skills while building confidence. Skyhawks Performance Clinics Gain the competitive advantage on the field and/or court this Fall with our Performance Clinics. These clinics teach young athletes the fundamentals of FACES (Footwork, Agility, Calisthenics, Endurance, and Speed). Skyhawks coaches provide a positive environment where boys and girls can learn how to move in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. For too long kids have been categorized into fast/slow, strong/weak. No longer. Learning how to run, jump, turn, cut, pull, push and squat are skills and can be taught like any other sports skill. In this program your child will become more agile by learning the correct way to run, jump and change direction. Our primary development objectives include core strength, upper body strength, lower body strength, long/short distance speed, agility, endurance/conditioning, running form, jumping form, balance, coordination, range of motion, flexibility, and self-esteem. Moraga Education Foundation Launches 2022-2023 Fundraising Campaign High quality public schools are the pride of Moraga, and we all have a stake in maintaining a quality public education for our young people. When public schools are good, every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential and the community remains a vibrant place to live for all generations.

The Friends of the Moraga Library is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the financial support of the Moraga Library and service to the local community. Money raised through membership and book sales is used to support library programs and the purchase of books, periodicals, DVDs and CDs. The Friends operates a book shop in the library which is open during most library hours except for Fridays. Semi-annual book sales are held in April and October. Building electrification means eliminating fossil fuels—primarily natural gas—as a source of energy in buildings. You can do this in your own home, by replacing your gas stove and other appliances with electric appliances such as induction stoves or an electric water heater. Burning natural gas releases carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), formaldehyde, and harmful ultra-fine particulates. These can have serious long-term health impacts, especially for children and the elderly. Natural gas contributes to the intensity and duration of structure fires and natural gas lines typically take longer than electric lines to get repaired and restored to operation following wildfires.
