TOWN ASEP

Town After-School Enrichment Programs (TOWN ASEP)

Cooking Round the World: Cupcake Crazy

TOWN ASEP is returning for the 2021–2022 school year! These afterschool enrichment programs will be available to students from all Moraga elementary schools and those in homeschool programs. Classes will take place at the Hacienda de las Flores located at 2100 Donald Drive unless otherwise noted.

RHEEM BUS PASSES—If your child attends Rheem Elementary School, bus service will be available. The Lamorinda School Bus program will be adding an additional bus stop at the Hacienda. Children with an annual bus pass will be able to use this service free of charge. Bus passes can be purchased for $50 for the session for the selected day of the week through the recreation department.

EXTENDED CARE PROGRAM—The Town will provide an optional extended care program for families in need of childcare until 5:30pm each day. Extended care will be provided onsite at the Hacienda following dismissal from TOWN ASEP classes. Join us for homework time and fun!

The cost of extended care is $50 for Monday, Tuesday or Thursday and $90 on Wednesday. The extended care fee covers the full session for the selected day of the week.

Bricks for Kidz: World Engineering with LEGO®

Bricks for Kidz: Force, Motion and Newton!

See how the world around us works and looks through the eyes of LEGO®. From animals and energy to construction equipment, race cars and space travel, we’ll explore our world by learning about and building some of the engineering marvels that we encounter every day. Each motorized lesson introduces key terminology related to each build as well as reinforces the S.T.E.M. and CORE concepts. So come build with us!

Come explore the world around us through the eyes of Sir Isaac Newton! Students will learn about Newton’s Laws of Motion through a series of fun science experiments, art projects and games. From creating rockets and catapults to amusement park rides and airplanes, students will have a blast creating and learning in this STEAM based class!

Cooking Round the World Staff Age 3.5–6

Allow your child to explore their creativity through themed art projects using various art media such as paint, playdough, and drawing in this self-directed art class. Please wear clothes that can get messy. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Green, Brown, Yellow, White, Red. Each day focuses on a new color—from the foods we cook to the stories and activities—the color dominates! We ask children to dress in the color of the day! $50 materials fee payable to the instructor at the first class.

Activity Guide Lamorinda Water Polo Staff

Age 5–9

Designed for boys and girls, ages 5 to 9 years old, with little or no water polo experience.

The players will learn the basics of the game while having loads of fun. Splashball is a no-contact program held in a shallow pool and floatation devices are allowed. Students should have basic swim skills: 25 yards free, 25 yards backstroke, 30 seconds tread water.

Skateboarding 101 Rob Skate Academy Staff

Skateboarding is now an Olympic sport and a handful of competitors that competed in Tokyo were trained by Rob Skate who is the creator and founder of this program. Here we welcome both beginner and intermediate skaters who want to learn more about the sport and how to keep themselves safe.

Each week, participants will be broken into teams to compete in a series of skill-based games that focus developing their skills, confidence, and passion for the game. Our primary development objectives include dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, strategy, agility, self-esteem, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Skyhawks coaches provide a positive environment where players of all ages and abilities can participate in friendly competition with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun!

Virtual Driver’s Ed Bay Area Driving School

Jeanne Dowell, former instructor under the US Olympic committee is a pioneer in the yoga movement within the Lamorinda area, has studied throughout the world including the Iyengar institute in India. Basic principles of the unique Iyengar system and how it applies to the aging process will be taught. She combines her experiences with Zen in her teaching, emphasizing stress reduction, strength, and relaxation.
