AARP Driver Safety Courses

Elementary Track Camp (Grades K - 2)

The Moorhead Track Club is an opportunity for elementary students to learn the fundamentals of track and field. Grades K-2 students will learn correct running mechanics, hurdling, softball throwing and the long jump. Our events will be coached by current and former high school coaches along with current Moorhead Spud track and field athletes. Our first four sessions will be practices, and our last session will be an actual track meet. Grades K-2 participants will compete in the 70-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, softball throw, long jump, and 200-meter dash. All registered participants will receive a Moorhead Track Club t-shirt.

Practices will take place at Horizon Middle School:

SESSION A - May 1, 3, 8, 10 (5:45-7:15pm)

SESSION B - May 2, 4, 9, 11 (5:45-7:15pm)

Track Meet will take place at Moorhead High May 14th 12 – 3 PM

Registration deadline is April 1, 2023.

Dance Team Skills and Technique (Grades

7-12)

Dancers will focus on building and improving their technique, strength, and flexibility to execute basic and advanced turns, leaps, acro skills and kicks. All dancers who are committed to competing for the Moorhead Highlights Dance Team; dancers who are interested in trying out for the team in the future; or dancers who just want to improve their skills are eligible. All sessions will be coached by the varsity MDT coaches. Dancers should wear athletic clothing (i.e shorts, leggings, tank tops) with their hair secured in a bun. Dancers should also have tennis shoes and jazz shoes.

Junior Spuds Competitive Gymnastic Team (Grades

K-8)

This program is for students who have previous gymnastics experience and are looking for an introduction to a competitive experience. The team will meet 6 hours a week. Prerequisites for this team include; ability to perform a cartwheel/ handstand and working towards or ability to perform a Pullover on bars.

Spud Recreational Gymnastics Session 1 (Grades K-12)

Spud Recreational Gymnastics Session 2 (Grades K-12)

Gymnastics can provide many cognitive and psychological benefits that will continue to benefit your child throughout their life. They learn social interaction, discipline, improved mental focus and concentration, flexibility and coordination. Gymnasts will improve overall fitness, strength, balance and body control. The coaches will strive to provide a fun and challenging environment for your gymnasts as they practice appropriate skills on the vault, bars, beam and floor. Girls must wear a leotard and workout shorts.

Beginners - First time gymnast, or intermediate skills
