+What are you doing every 1 st Tuesday of the month? Well, if you don’t have dinner plans, head to SE corner of Moon Valley Park at 502 W Coral Gables Drive to try something new at the Moon Valley Food Truck Tuesday! No cooking, no clean up, and get to know your neighbors!

Started by local realtor and 25-year Moon Valley resident, Anne-Marie Olson, the objective is to bring community together and give everyone a chance to try new cuisine. Anne-Marie has a passion for animals, especially dogs, so she requires the food trucks to donate a portion of their proceeds to local animal shelters and rescue organizations.

“I started Moon Valley Food Truck Tuesday” because the community of Moon Valley is extremely important to me as a Moon Valley mom, 25-year resident, and realtor. Last year, my solar landscaping lights were stolen from my front yard and our friend’s car was broken into while at our house. I was concerned and I was mad. As a member of Moon Valley Moms on Facebook, I knew the power of that community online and wanted to bring that to the physical community. The food trucks are a reason to gather and get to know each other and bonus: No cooking or clean up!”

There will only be one food truck each month so you may have to wait but it will be worth it. Bring a blanket, chairs, and enjoy an evening dinner in the park or grab it and go! Anne-Marie provides simple crafts for the kids and a chance to win prizes (usually gift cards for local businesses) for the adults.

“Saucy Pasta was our December truck and will also be here in March. The owner, Derek Dillon and I recently retired from corporate America to follow our passions. Derek says, ‘Being a small business owner is so rewarding, but it’s the hardest I have worked up to this point in life...’ and I completely agree. The difference is that when you’re doing what you love it fuels you. I’m so blessed to have been able to make this change - I mean, my job is getting to know people and see how I can help them....not a bad gig!”

“Our first few months have gone very well considering we’ve just started and have only gotten word out via social media and a few fliers. The kids have enjoyed coloring and crafts whilst waiting for food, and I love that families are making plans to meet at the park to eat together! We could have used a fire pit the last couple of months as it was cold, but everyone said they really enjoyed the food and had a good time.”
