From making a splash in the pool to preparing for secondary school, this issue is packed with ideas, opportunities and useful advice for families. Read on to learn more.
Could you help change a child’s future? Right now, more Northamptonshire children need foster families than there are foster carers available. If you’re a parent of school-aged children, you may already have many of the skills needed to support a child who needs a safe, stable and caring home. Visit a fostering information evening to find out more: 28th January – Kettering 27th March – Wellingborough 19th May – Northampton 19th August – Corby 3rd November – Daventry There is no obligation and no pressure, just the chance to ask questions and hear what fostering is really like. If you’d like to make a difference to a local child’s future, they’d love to meet you. Together, you can help more children stay close to their schools, friends and communities. W: www.fosterme.co.uk
Make a splash this winter – give your child a life skill for life As the colder months arrive and we settle into the winter term, it’s the perfect time to keep children active, build their confidence and develop skills that will last a lifetime. Swimtime believe swimming should be an essential part of every child’s development, whatever the season. Did you know that 1 in 4 children leave primary school unable to swim? This highlights the importance of ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn this vital life skill. The lessons at Swimtime cater for everyone, from complete beginners taking their first splash to more confident swimmers developing their technique. With a focus on building skills, confidence and water safety in a supportive environment, they help children make progress at their own pace. W: www.swimtime.org
