Local NEWS

A round up of news from across the county, including Theatr Clwyd reopening, a perfect destination for a family meal, information on important vaccines to consider this winter, and ideas of how to keep children active this season.

Keep your family active at Brio

It’s winter… which means cosy nights at home or in front of the telly! But keeping kids active, even for just 30 minutes a day, can do wonders for their mood, energy, and overall health. And this doesn’t have to mean long workouts or joining clubs… A quick splash in the pool or a fun game of racquets is a brilliant way for the whole family to get active, try something new, and keep those Christmas spirits high!

At Brio, it’s easy to book what you like, when you like with payas-you-go. You can pick up a Brio Active Card to get £1 off* per person when you visit (*T&Cs apply). Or grab a Junior Take 5 pass, for juniors wanting to explore all the activities they have on offer! Check out their Christmas opening hours at www.brioleisure.org

It’s not too late to protect your child from flu

Flu cases increase in December and January and you can still get your child vaccinated. Flu is a very unpleasant illness in children as they suffer the same symptoms as adults and some may need to be treated in hospital. Most children have the vaccine as a nasal spray. It’s quick, effective and painless. The vaccine has been used for over ten years in schools and GP practices in the UK, where millions of children have been vaccinated. All school aged children will be able to have the vaccine at school. Please return the consent form sent to you by school so your child can have the vaccine in school. Children with certain long-term conditions will be invited by their GP practice and should take it up as soon as possible. Children aged 2 and 3 will have been offered the flu nasal spray at their GP practice in September, and since October the vaccine has been available at participating pharmacies.

The nasal spray contains a small amount of gelatine (porcine gelatine). If you’d prefer your child to have the flu vaccine injection, which doesn’t contain gelatine, speak to your school Immunisation team or GP practice.

Rehearsed, Refreshed, Reopened

You can book now for live events, cinema, and the brand-new restaurant, Bryn Williams at Theatr Clwyd. So, get ready – the curtain is about to rise! W: www.theatrclwyd.com
