Motion by Veldkamp, seconded by Miles to approve the following resolution, with all present members voting “aye”: MOODY COUNTY WEIGHT LIMIT ENFORCEMENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, seasonal climatic changes can be detrimental to our highways, and WHEREAS, the Moody County Board of County Commissioners desires to protect existing Moody County Highways, ultimately saving tax dollars and, WHEREAS, the Moody County Board of County Commissioners desire the enforcement of weight limitation of Moody County Roads as set forth and posted by the Moody County Highway Superintendent.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: WHEREAS, the limits on Moody County Highways shall be set as seven (7) tons per axle on all asphalt surface roads and seven (7) tons per axle on all gravel roads during the spring thaw period and when limit signs are in place.

That the South Dakota Highway Patrol be and hereby is authorized and requested to enforce weight limitations on Moody County Roads.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the penalty for the violation of the load restrictions shall be set forth in SDCL 32-22-55.

FFA Week 2016 – February 20 – 28, 2016 Saturday, February 20

Community Mock Career Development Event (CDE) – HS Lunchroom during HS Boys’ basketball game.

Community Members are encouraged to participate in a shortened version of the FFA Career Development Events that FFA members compete in during the spring semester. The CDE will be set up in the HS Lunch room from 4:30 until after half-time of the boys’ varsity basketball game.

There will be at least 8 different contest areas for anyone in the community to participate. Each participant may compete in as many areas as they would like. A free bag of popcorn from the concession stand will be awarded to participants after they compete. The top 2 placing individuals in each CDE area will receive a gift certificate.

The FFA Booster Club/Alumni will have a table set up in the lobby providing information about the group and asking for support.

FFA Members serve concessions at the game.

Dress-up Day: Camouflage. School Activity: Locker Tags, Coloring Contest FFA Member Lunch in the Ag Room (for HS & MS members who have 12+ FFA points) Qualified members will come to the Ag room for lunch during their normal lunch period.

Member-made coloring sheets will be provided to the elementary students to color. The best 2 pictures from each class will win an award. The coloring sheets will depict various Agricultural scenes, many that aren’t related to production Ag.

Community Activity: Community Breakfast 7:15 – 8:15 am – Janklow Community Center

The community is invited to attend a FREE breakfast of French toast, eggs, and ham. The Flandreau FFA members will begin serving the breakfast at 7:15 in a buffet style (the community may come and go as they please). The eggs are donated by Dakota Layers.

Announcements: Blake / Jaycie FFA Members will be reading the daily announcements to the HS and MS. Along with the announcements, they will include information connecting the dress-up day to agriculture and provide a daily trivia question. Students can submit an answer to the trivia for a chance to win prizes.

Dress-up Day: Ag Career Day. School Activity: Drive your tractor to school, Bring your toy tractor for display Students are encouraged to drive a tractor, truck or other agricultural equipment to school to “overflow the parking lot with agriculture.”

Elementary students are encouraged to bring in their toy tractors and agriculture equipment to be displayed for the week outside the classrooms. The toys will be judged in categories such as oldest, newest, best condition, biggest, and others for a chance to win prizes.

Dress-up Day: Wrangler Wednesday, with Pearly Snaps. School Activity: Animal Nursery Kids in grades K-4 will spend about 15-20 minutes per class in the Ag room with the student-owned animals and learn a little bit about them.

Popcorn will be provided for those who visit.

Area day care kids and pre-schools are also be invited and should contact Mr. Christiansen to arrange a time.

This will be done in the morning only.

Community Activity: Final Mystery FFA Alumni contest clue in Enterprise

The final clue will be revealed. Guesses for the Mystery Alumnus can be emailed to josh.christiansen@k12.sd.us or by calling 605-997-2455. The first correct guess will receive in $25 Flandreau Bucks, all other correct guesses will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate.

Dress-up Day: Blue & Gold / Official Dress School Activity: MS Mock CDE MS Mock Career Development Event (CDE) (grades 5-8) FFA Members will have 8 contest areas set up in the armory gym for MS students to compete. Each student will pick 2-3 contest areas and spend 15 minutes at each contest.

Prizes will be awarded for the winners on Monday following FFA week.
