A community picnic sponsored by Mad Mary’s and the City of Flandreau was then held in the Mad Mary’s parking lot with live entertainment and food. Both events were well attended. Mayor Sutton commended the Flandreau Unit as well as Mad Mary’s and those that assisted with the event. Mayor Sutton read a Proclamation that proclaims October 4th – 10th as National 4-H Week. Mayor Sutton informed Council of Finance Officer Karen Gundvaldson’s retirement and decision to move forth with a new opportunity at a different company. She will assist as needed until such time as a replacement for her position has been hired. Gundvaldson was thanked for her years of service and dedication to the City of Flandreau. Some applications have been received for the City Administrator position; more information is forthcoming regarding the interview process. Discussion was held after which Pesall made a motion, seconded by Unger to authorize the City Administrator, upon request by the Team of Angels, to allow closure of Wind Street from 2nd Avenue south to the drive-thru lane at the First National Bank ATM Site, on future Thursday nights from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm during which time the “Chase the Ace” event sponsored by the Team of Angels is being held, with the understanding that closure of the street must be requested prior to each Thursday night event and said requests will only be authorized from November 1, 2021 thru November 1, 2022.
