THANK YOU

Our family is so humbled and thankful to this community for the outpouring of food, memorials, and love shown to us since Rog’s passing. We knew what a wonderful person he was and how he loved his community, but did not realize the impact he had made on so many of you. So many of you commented on his smile, and what a gentleman he was. We couldn’t agree more. Having the LaFrance fire truck carry him to his final resting ground was so meaningful. A special thank you on the day of the service to Bridget Flannery, the Flandreau Fire Department, the Honor Guard, the bagpipe player and Randy Tollefson. Another thank you for making Rog’s journey easier goes to the Doughtery Hospice House. We are grateful for the guidance of Cole, Donna, and others at Skroch funeral chapel for their help as we said our final goodbye. And finally, we are so appreciative of the steadfast care that Rog received over the years from the staff at Avera Flandreau Clinic and Hospital. If we have missed sending anyone a thank you, please know that was not our intention. Please know that we appreciated all the thoughts and prayers of everyone.

If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate igno rance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature… If the next centennial does not find us a great nation… it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.”

In 2013, Flannery served as her battalion’s tactical intelligence officer and sexual assault response coordinator in Afghanistan Hers were the lone set of eyes that saw the totality of the battle damage in their area of operation That bifocalism led to an operationalized approach to sexual assault; in their downtrace, they treated sexual assault the same way they treated the other kinetic threat Years later, the data is clear: this approach works

“Bringing the tools of intelligence and war-fighting to the fight against Sexual Assault makes a difference in our ability to fight-tonight – and it makes a difference in the lives of the men and women we serve. ”
