Wage/Salary: $15.00 - $17.00 Starting D.O.E. Status: Hourly - Non Exempt Summary: Tribal Police Officers are responsible for enforcing federal, tribal ordinances and municipal law and order codes adopted by the tribe; provide criminal and civil regulatory enforcement through tribal court; patrol tribal lands; investigate crimes; traffic control; collect evidence; prepare reports; serve warrants and summons. On an assigned shift: operate a patrol vehicle, foot patrol suspicious activities or persons, and disturbances of law and order; respond to radio dispatched calls, answer calls and complaints; issue traffic and criminal citations; control individual and group actions through verbal direction and/or the employment of necessary physical force; make custodial arrests and testify in court; provide police escorts and transports; perform residential and commercial checks; investigate traffic accidents; interview victims, witnesses and suspects to obtain additional information regarding criminal complaints, accidents, violations, etc.; conduct searches; complete arrest records; prepare reports and record evidence. Participate in a variety of in-service and special training programs, respond to and investigate domestic disputes, assist other agencies when requested or assigned, transport and care for prisoners as assigned.

Education and Experience: Applicant must have a G.E.D. or High School Diploma, Applicant must be currently certified through the state of South Dakota or Bureau of Indian Affairs. Associates Degree in Criminal Justice preferred, 2-3 years’ law enforcement experience strongly preferred. Must pass a preemployment drug/alcohol screening, PL101-630 Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Protection Act, and a valid SD driver’s license (must obtain within 30-days) Must submit to a P.L. 101-630 background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. The Moody County Historical Society would like to thank the following for making our 23rd Annual Summerfest (held on July 4th on the museum grounds) a success again this year. Thank you to our nine vendors: Jenny’s Jammin Burritos, Pangica Treats (shaved ice), Annie’s Famous Egg Rolls and Shish Kabobs, Episcopal Church Indian Taco’s, WELCA (lefse), Athena Club, Boy’s and Girl’s Club, Jeff Stoll (J & B Handcrafts), and Leslie Johnson (Public Regalia). Our performers this year were: Amy Ellsworth, Advent Capelle Singers (both youth and adult), Roger and Dennis Erickson, and The Flandreau Alumni and City Band. Thank you to all of you for your fine performances. Thanks to Bart Sample and Chris Sirvas, from the National Guard, for supplying canopy tents and for leading the flag raising ceremony. Thanks to Coby Renville for his fine job of singing Our National Anthem. The City of Flandreau and Bob’s Electric supplied us with the electricity needs that were required by our vendors. Moody County staff delivered and picked up the picnic tables needed to seat everyone. Thank you. Bob Pesall did a great job, again, as our MC. Ann Spitzenberger led our morning worship service held in the Meeting House. Sutton Auction Service provided the speaker system used at the event---they have done this for many years. Thank you all for sharing your time and resources. Landscaping and cleanup are vital to this event. Thanks to Warren & Marilyn Jackson, Phyllis Porisch, Darlene Heinricy, John Wiese, and others for “sprucing up” the museum grounds and to Pastor Lillibridge for being our “garbage man” during the event. Special thanks to Cheryl Shaeffer for making the beautiful quilt that was raffled off at our event. Special thanks to Stuart Zephier for spending countless hours cataloguing and pricing our “donated for sale vinyl record collection”. We have many records left for purchase down at the museum. If we have neglected to mention someone, certainly that was not our intention. Next year, the 24th Annual Summerfest should be even bigger as we celebrate the Flandreau Sesquicentennial (150 years----1869-2019).

2018 Moody County Fair Open Class Static Exhibit List

GENERAL RULES

1. Entries must be the work of the exhibitor and completed during the last two years. Entries must not have been exhibited at a previous Moody County Fair in the Open Class division. 2. Paintings and wall hangings must be ready to hang. 3. The Moody County Fair reserves the right to combine or divide any lot as deemed necessary. 4. Exhibitors may enter a maximum of 4 entries per lot. 5. There is no charge to the exhibitor for entering exhibits in open class. 6. Persons under the age of 18 as of July 24, 2018 will be judged in the junior division. Please use the entry tags for junior entries with a “J” in front of the lot number, and include age of the exhibitor on the entry card. 7. Every precaution will be taken for the safe keeping of all articles, but the Moody County Fair, SDSU Extension Service, Moody County Extension staff and volunteers will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury that may occur during the judging process or display. 8. Exhibits may be entered from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, July 24 at the Flandreau Armory. However, literature exhibits are to be entered at the Moody County Extension Office by 3 pm, Friday, July 20 so the judge has adequate time to read and evaluate entries before the county fair. 9. Flowers & Vegetables can be brought on Wednesday, July 25 from 9-10 am. 10. Exhibits will be released at 12 noon on Saturday, July 28. Please make arrangements to have your exhibits picked up no later than 2 pm. The Armory must be cleaned that evening. The Mayor indicated that he and Alderman Bjerke are finalizing the last details for the airport fly-in event that will be held Sunday, July 8th. Team of Angels will be serving breakfast at the event. City Administrator Pederson shared that he had a recent phone conference with FAA regarding the Environmental Assessment (EA) at the airport; a written supplement to the previous EA will be completed. A Facebook page, “Flandreau City Government”, has been created whereby several entries will be made every week to share information. The intent is to also enhance the existing webpage for the City and coordinate with other entities in promoting Flandreau and keeping residents informed. Mosquito spraying begins tonight for the City and tribal properties; the airport will be sprayed later in the week in anticipation of the upcoming fly-in event.
