Lunch and Learn at the Moody County Museum
It was 141 years ago in May when the first courageous pioneers ventured out on the Dakota Territory prairie with nothing more than the promise of train tracks and the creation of a new town, Egan. In May of 1880, there was but one building in Egan and that was of the newspaper editor. His reporting told how a town prairie was born, not how it might have been. About that time, my great-grandparents arrived in Egan, and they were the inspiration for the fictitious family who carried forth the story of the first year of that village, as told in the Girl Who Moved to the Town That Wasn’t There by Suzanne Hovik Fuller. The Author will share her findings on the early history of Egan in her presentation at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 5th at the Moody County Museum. Sponsored by the Moody County Historical Society. Randy Chamblin, Moody County Sportsmen Club, requested a reduced lease rate for 2021 as there has been low attendance due to a lack of available ammunition. The matter will be placed on the agenda for the next Council meeting. Mayor Sutton shared information regarding the Community Meeting that will be held tomorrow, May 18th, regarding the dam study and indicated it is an opportunity for the community to engage and ask questions. A presentation by Game Fish and Parks, and Barr Engineering will take place at 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Work continues for ideas to brand and promote the community; he will have information at a later date after further meetings take place. The Mayor shared that there are two open positions on the Park Board as Don Ulwelling and Bruce Clark have resigned from the Board after many years of service; he requested any persons interested should contact him. City Administrator Pederson followed up on the Mayor’s comments regarding the Community Meeting tomorrow night, indicating there will be displays to view on the project in addition to the formal presentations scheduled. There will also be an opportunity for written comment for elected officials to review prior to making any decision regarding the dam. The Electric Department Intern began work last week; the crew is currently taking down wire and will remove unused electric poles following. The second shipment of new AMI electric meters has begun to arrive; the second phase of meter replacement will begin soon. The new wastewater generator for the Ahlers lift station will arrive this week and be permanently placed once the concrete pad is complete. June 8th has been scheduled for the City, County and School surplus property auction. Motion by Pesall and seconded by Tufty to approve the Administrative Reports. Ms. Dekkeuga covered the details of the schematic design and answered questions regarding: determination of square footage needs; alternatives for storage of the antique fire truck and the addition of a mezzanine; structure type; materials; safety features; parking; efficiencies; and the next step toward construction of the new Fire Station. Motion by Tufty and seconded by Bjerke to approve the Fire Station Schematic Design and authorize the Architect to proceed to Design Development. Chief Weber, Flandreau Police Department, presented information regarding the placement of lighted speed signs in Flandreau. After discussion, and based on cost, it was determined a Lighted Speed Sign Program should be addressed during Budget planning for 2022. SUMMARY: The cook shall prepare and cook meals for the Title VI participants five days per week according to prepared menus. This position will also be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the

Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field and/or four (4) years of consecutive demonstrated experience in a Human Resources department is required.

IT Specialist Summary: The FSST Tribal Health Center is seeking an IT Specialist position, FT (40 hrs. per week) MonFriday. Selected candidate will provide on-site Tier 1 support for Health Center employees and departments.
