The Senator who will represent District 25 will be decided, not in November, but by the registered Republicans who vote in the June 7 primary. Because no other candidate from the other parties filed, the Republican who has the most votes in the primary will represent the voters of District 25 in January, 2023. I have mentioned in my past articles how to register, and also how to vote absentee, which was available to voters starting April 22.

I am 1 of 4 candidates running for the open seat in the Senate in District 25.

I served 6 years in the SD House of Representatives from District 8 [2013 to 2018], the last 2 in a leadership role as House Majority Whip. During that time, I was appointed to the Regional Watershed Task Force and the Mental Health summer study legislative committees while serving in the SD Legislature.

For almost 40 years I provided dental care to the communities of Flandreau and Dell Rapids. My daughter Kim joined me for the last 7 of those years, then moved to Philip, where she owns a dental clinic.

I actively farm about 600 acres with my son Jason and keep busy with many community and church activities. I chaired a committee to build a new library, combining Flandreau city, school, and Moody County entities. I am the Grand Knight of the KC's chapter in our church and serve as a director on the SD Right to Life board.

I believe I am an experienced leader that could represent you well in the SD Senate.

Visitors to be Heard: None Mayor Dan Sutton shared that he has been in contact with Ross Hanson from the Indian Health Services regarding an analysis of the Casino Lift Station. Sutton also shared that he has been working with Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe Attorney General Seth Pearman on ensuring that the Bureau of Indian Affairs grant requirements are met for the Crescent Street bridge.

Mayor Sutton informed the Council that the Flandreau Golf Course Task Force will have their second meeting next week. Mayor Sutton also thanked City Administrator Pederson and Assistant City Administrator Turnquist for their willingness to help paint the Aquatic Center and prepare it for opening.

City Administrator Pederson shared that the that painting in the lobby of the Aquatic Center was nearly complete. Pederson shared that Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) sent notice that they are planning to raise electric rates beginning in 2023. Pederson also informed the Council that the Department of Revenue denied an appeal by the City to renew an expired liquor license.

Assistant City Administrator Turnquist shared that City staff were planning to meet with Eaton this week to do an overview of the Cities progress toward converting existing electric meters to AMI. Turnquist also informed the Council that the Aquatic Center will be opening on May 30, 2022. Assistant City Administrator Turnquist shared that he will be attending the monthly Flandreau Development Corporation meeting on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Turnquist also informed the Council that the City is still actively searching for two Public Works Operator. Turnquist shared that he is working with City staff to continue implementing the new utility billing software through Tyler Technologies.

Brief Summary:

• High school diploma or GED is required. A.A.S. Degree/Diploma in related field preferred.

The Associate Grant Writer is a member of the grant department team, responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to identify, prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals. The Associate Grant Writer will perform prospect research to evaluate prospects for grants. The Associate Grant Writer will work with the senior grant writer finance, and program directors. The Associate Grant Write under the direction of the senior grant write, is responsible to single out and seek funds for existing and future Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe (FSST) projects.

• Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in a Supervisory capacity, in a maintenance / plant related posi4on.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc. as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

Must communicate effectively with all of the Tribe’s stakeholders; both within and outside of its organization.

• Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regula4ons.

• Must be able to liW, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of fiWy (50) pounds.

Must be able to operate a computer and use common office software such as Outlook email exchange, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

The Nursing Home Administrator will be responsible for providing five star-rated quality health care, housing and community based services to incapacitated individuals and older genera;ons by helping residents live the lives that most inspire them. This Nursing Home will offer many services including Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The Nursing Home Administrator will oversee daily func;ons of our senior care community and lead staff, build referral rela;onships, and market services. Our ideal candidate has an ac;ve administrator’s license, leadership experience in older adult services and cultural sensi;vity knowledge about Na;ve Americans is highly preferred. We are looking for someone who has a strong commitment to serving older adults, excellent people and financial management skills, and the ability to interface effec;vely with families and residents. Native Nations Dispensary Associate Opens: May 2 2022 Closes: May 16 2022 Job Description: The Dispensing Associate is responsible for fulfilling orders behind the retail counter and issuing pre- packaged products that have been purchased to customers. The Dispensing Associate must have a complete understanding of the use and side effects of our products. Dispensing Associate will be given the task of preparing, dispensing, distributing, and administering cannabis-based products under the direct supervision of the Dispensary Lead, Supervisor or Manager.

Physical Requirements: • Ability to move about the dispensary, handle various types of media and equipment, and visually or otherwise identify, observe, and assess.

The Native Nations Cannabis will be accepting applications/resume for one full-time Procurement Coordinator. This position will be responsible incumbent verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Follow organization rates, rules, and regulations. Compiles records concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, and equipment. This position will be responsible for the overall operation of the procurement department

The Inventory Clerk contributes to the success of the company by assisting the Dispensary Manager(s) with reporting, transports and data entry to compare inventories to office records or computes figures from records such as production records, or purchase invoices to obtain current inventory for each division of the company.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hand to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 or more pounds and regularly move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is normal.
