POSITION SUMMARY: The Clerk of Courts position is multi-focused requiring a wide range of responsibilities key to the court system. The employee will fulfill Court Administrator and Magistrate job duties. The employee serves as Clerk of civil, criminal, juvenile, traffic, small claims, and appellate courts. Receptionist, secretarial, legal assistant, and public relation duties are also requirements of this position. In brief, this employee greets all visitors and handles all incoming correspondence and telephone calls. Is responsible for budgets, record keeping, report writing, drafting pleadings, docketing cases, processing and filing all civil, criminal, juvenile, traffic, small claims, and appeal actions filed with Tribal Court. The Clerk of Courts is responsible for the scheduling of hearings, preparing and maintaining court calendars and notification of all parties in all civil, criminal, juvenile, traffic, small claims, and appeal actions. This position performs Court Magistrate duties, prepares and distributes child support payments to agencies or individuals on a monthly basis. Responsible for issuing various tribal licenses, collecting fees and fines ordered by the Court. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Must have a high school diploma, paralegal training, or experience preferred. A minimum of two (2) years prior secretarial experience. Knowledge of legal terminology. Knowledge of typewriter keyboards. Must be able to type 50-70 wpm. Must know English grammar, spelling, and punctuation in order to correct obvious errors in material being typed. Computer skills required, specifically proficient in Microsoft Windows products. Knowledge of fax and copy machine operation and troubleshooting. Prior administrative experience preferred. Must be physically and mentally able to carry out the demanding duties of the office. Must be a Notary Public licensed in the State of South Dakota or able to obtain a license. Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of Flandreau South Dakota Demonstration Education Project January 2020 The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is seeking Motivational/Educational Speakers or Cultural/ Language Presenters for its Demonstration Education Project. Speakers will address K-12 school aged children in a school assembly format.
Under the general supervision of the Education Director, the school liaison will develop and coordinate all aspects of the Education Demonstration grant and the 93-638 Johnson O’Malley program for the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. The School Liaison will develop and coordinate cultural, educational, and recreational activities for Native students and professional development opportunities for students, parent committees, school board and administration. The school liaison will serve as a mentor advising students in college/career preparation, academic support and holistic wellness. Minimum Qualifications: •
Description of Work: Consultants will present to students who attend the Flandreau Public School system in Flandreau, South Dakota. •
The Consultant will provide a cultural/historical/ motivational/educational presentation on a contracted basis usually for one day. • The Consultant should present a message that promotes positive social skills, self-discipline, and a positive self-image. • The Consultant should have demonstrated experience with motivating children of all ages. • The Consultants message should be culturally and/historically relevant to the Dakota Nation

Paralegal This position will assist and provide a range of legal support and administration to the Tribal Lawyer. Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, incumbent will assist with the development and coordination of all aspects of the three year Education Demonstration Grant. The Project Assistant will provide day to day operations of the office for all Project staff which include: coordinating meetings/travel, processing and filing various forms of paperwork, maintain and archive Dakota Language curriculum, media and other materials, track activities for monthly reporting, assist with any community or educational events the programs may be having.

Assistant Attorney The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe (the “Tribe”), located in Flandreau, South Dakota, is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Tribal Attorney. The attorney, under the direction of the Tribal Attorney, will be tasked with the responsibility of prosecuting the Tribe’s Law and Order Code, and will work closely with Tribal Police and other local state and federal agencies to fulfill the position’s obligations. The attorney will also assist the Tribal Attorney with assigned matters regarding the representation of the Tribe, its Health Clinic, its tribally owned businesses, and the Royal River Casino and Hotel. Clean up day will be Saturday, May 2nd, 2020. City clean-up volunteers will meet at City Hall at 8:30am. Residents must place items in separate piles – such as - wood – metal –appliances. Mattresses, box springs, and tires will be picked up if prepaid at city hall. Each mattress, box spring, or tire is $10 a piece. Payment may be placed in drop box – include name, address, and items to be picked up. Any mattress, box spring, or tire not prepaid will be left on the property. The Egan Cemetery will also have clean up on May 2nd. Cemetery Volunteers should bring hand tools and meet at the Egan Senior Center at 8:30am to plan for work at the cemetery. The Egan Ladies Cemetery Association will provide a light lunch for workers. All volunteers are welcome.
