Job Description: The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is accepting applications for one FT Caregiver. This position will be responsible for assisting and providing support services or respite care for elders and/or children where a primary caregiver is involved. Some duties included are: assisting clients with accessing various services, identifying eligible clients and priority of support services, giving primary caregivers a break and complete training where the individual may pass along tips and advice to primary caregiver(s), maintaining a daily log of caregiver duties performed. This position must be flexible with scheduling hours per pay week and may involve some evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Applicant must have excellent documenting skills for logging and reporting in a timely manner. Education & Qualifications: Must have a GED or high school diploma and a valid SD driver’s license. • • • • • • •

Must pass an Adjudicated PL101-630 background check. Must have a reputation for being caring and trustworthy. Work with the public, tribal staff, and agency partners in a professional manner. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels. Job Description: The SORC, under the direction of the Chief of Police, will be tasked with enforcing the tribal Sex Offender Registry Ordinance. This includes registering and tracking offenders; and reporting noncompliance to the Tribal Prosecutor. The SORC provides notice to the community of registerable offenders living, working, and attending school on the reservation. The SORC will draft and implement policies, forms, and code recommendations to implement best practices related to sex offender registries. The SORC ensures that the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe remains in substantial compliance with the Sex Offender Registry Notification Act (SORNA). The SORC engages in community outreach to educate the community about SORO and how to prevent sex offenses from occurring. The SORC will also be tasked with implementing the Tribal Access Program (TAP), a program offered to tribes by the U.S. Department of Justice that allows access and uploading to some federal information databases. The SORC will be the Tribe’s point of contact with the U.S. Department of Justice and in-house for departments with any issues related to the TAP workstation. The SORC will provide access to the TAP workstation to authorized tribal employees and applicants. The SORC will ensure compliance with all tribal policies related to TAP.

Law Enforcement background or background with another criminal justice agency highly preferred Must be able to operate a computer and use common office software such as Outlook email exchange, Word, and Excel. Elm Avenue Flandreau, SD 57028-1404 COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS March 15th, 2021 The City Council of the City of Flandreau, South Dakota, met in special session on Monday, March 15th, 2021 at 5:34 p.m. via Zoom Conference. Present: Mayor Dan Sutton. Aldermen: Brad Bjerke, Mark Ekern, Mike Fargen, Bob Pesall, and Karen Tufty. Absent: Jason Unger. A presentation of the 30% Design Concept for Dam Alternative 1B – Full Dam Removal with Rock Features, was made by Ron Koth, Tom MacDonald, and Matt Peterson of Barr Engineering Co. The project consists of completely removing the existing dam and installing several rock features in the river between the existing dam and the downstream Crescent Street bridge. The rock features are intended to promote riverbank stability, provide fish habitat and angling features, and provide an interesting feature for paddlers on the river. Project needs, objectives, timelines, hydraulic evaluations and modeling of preferred Alternative 1B were highlighted. Also shared was information regarding the impacts to upstream areas: the bank by Avera Hospital, the Highway 13 bridge, Flandreau City Park and the Golf Course. Mid-range cost estimate at this time is $1,507,790. The next step for the project is public engagement with the 30% design layout. Following that would be the final design process, permitting and bid documents as well as seeking potential cost-share partners for this safety and infrastructure project. A discussion and question session took place upon completion of the Barr Engineering presentation. The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned at 6:21 p.m. The Regular City Council meeting will be held at 6:30 at the City Council Chambers. The Flandreau Fridays Festival of Nations Event will be held in the downtown area and will be free to the public. In addition to performers, there will be food and craft vendors with alcohol consumption in a fenced and restricted area that would require wristbands to enter. The committee has reached out to all businesses in the vicinity of the event and has received positive feedback and support. The committee is requesting authorization to close part of 2nd Avenue between Center and Crescent Streets and part of Wind Street between Pipestone and 2nd Avenues for the Festival of Nations Event on June 25th from 3:00 PM to 12:00 PM. Motion by Pesall and seconded by Tufty to allow closure of the requested streets on June 25th, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 12:00 PM. Ceiling tile and light replacement is nearing completion; the City will receive a 20% rebate from MRES for the new lighting. A public hearing will be held on March 29th at 6:00 PM in City Council Chambers for the Flandreau Fire Station Construction Project as required to submit an application in the amount of $500,000 for a Community Development Block Grant. A low-moderate income survey is currently being conducted prior to grant submission as well. Federal legislation for the American Rescue Plan passed last week.
