Performs the following tasks in compliance with the 638 BIA Contract Program- BIA/AVT Higher Education and the Johnson O’Malley Program. May supervise temporary Summer Youth Coordinators when the Summer Youth Program is active.

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s Degree required with Education focus preferred, 2-3 years of experience with higher education programs, grant writing, scholarships or other similar related duties strongly preferred.

2. Possession of a valid SD Driver’s license and insurable by the FSST. Willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment. Must submit to a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and P.L. 101-630 background check.

3. Ability to handle multiple tasks and/or projects and occasionally work odd hours.

HELP WANTED The City of Flandreau, South Dakota is accepting applications from interested and qualified individuals for the position of Seasonal Maintenance Worker at Union Cemetery. The position is responsible for all lawn care, trimming, and pruning of bushes and trees in order to assure the attractiveness of the Cemetery. The person in the position will also assist individuals with compliance with the Cemetery Procedures.

Applicant must be at least 18 years old, and have a valid South Dakota driver’s license.

Experience operating power lawn-care equipment required, as well as a strong desire to maintain a high standard of appearance of the Cemetery grounds. Expected dates of employment are late-April through late-August. Rate of pay for the position begins at $10.54 per hour.

The Finance Officer discussed the potential for freezing water lines due to the extreme cold. Information has been circulated via the City website, Facebook, radio, and flyers posted at businesses, to inform residents of the need to check the water temperature in their residence

to determine whether they should leave a faucet open slightly to keep water flowing and reduce potential freezing of the line.

Police Chief Zach Weber introduced new police officer Jerod Mosley who then spoke briefly of his background and training. Chief Weber then asked newly certified police officer Taylor White to share information regarding his recent training.

Local Support Needed for Blood Supply Colman, SD- Colman – Eagan School and Community Blood Bank are coming together to ensure an adequate blood supply for the community through the first months of 2019 by hosting a community blood drive on Friday, March 22 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Colman – Eagan School. All blood donations will stay local for local use with all blood types in immediate need.

“With many blood drive cancellations occurring within the last few weeks, the need for blood is at a critical status. This means we are at a point where we have less than a 72 hour supply of blood available for local patients,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “Our hope is to bring supplies back up with the help of volunteers, staff and students at Colman – Eagan School. With people being treated for cancer, surgery cases and unexpected traumas occurring, we have seen an increase in usage as we come to a close of the winter season.”

Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form), weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health. Facility Worker Full Time

Dakota State University is seeking applications for a full-time Facility Worker. This position will work the 4:00am -12:30pm shift, Monday through Friday. Primary responsibilities include custodial care for general cleaning and minor maintenance for buildings on the DSU campus. Duties will include floor care consisting of vacuuming, shampooing carpets, scrubbing, mopping, waxing and polishing floors. This position will also clean and sanitize restrooms, dust and wash walls, woodwork and windows, collect and remove trash from buildings, remove snow from steps and sidewalks during winter and perform minor maintenance functions as needed.

Additional responsibilities will include some painting, moving furniture and checking equipment as necessary.
