REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of Flandreau South Dakota Demonstration Education Project February 2019 The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is seeking Motivational/Educational Speakers or Cultural/ Language Presenters for its Demonstration Education Project. Speakers will address K-12 school aged children in a school assembly format.

Description of Work: Consultants will present to students who attend the Flandreau Public School system in Flandreau, South Dakota.

• The Consultant will provide a cultural/historical/ motivational/educational presentation on a

contracted basis usually for one day.

• The Consultant should present a message that promotes positive social skills, self-discipline,

and a positive self-image.

• The Consultant should have demonstrated experience with motivating children of all ages.

• The Consultants message should be culturally and/historically relevant to the Flandreau

Santee Sioux Nation Qualifications • Experience- Prior demonstrated experience in public speaking • Priority will be given to local and regional applicants • Personal characteristics- Respectful in the Dakota Way; Personable and can motivate children

to perform.

Consultants will be asked to sign a contract and will be compensated based on experience.

Full Time – Non-Exempt

Under the general supervision of the Education Director, the school liaison will develop and coordinate all aspects of the Education Demonstration grant and the 93-638 Johnson O’Malley program for the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. The School Liaison will develop and coordinate cultural, educational, and recreational activities for Native students and professional development opportunities for students, parent committees, school board and administration. The school liaison will serve as a mentor advising students in college/career preparation, academic support and holistic wellness.

Minimum Qualifications: • Must be a high school graduate. Must have completed a minimum of two (2) years of college in Education, Social Work, Family Studies, Child Development or closely related field highly preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Must have administrative experience with coordinating, planning, organizing and implementing meetings and programs for a diverse audience.

• Must have proficient computer skills with the ability to maintain computer records and data.

• Must have experience in preparing written reports.

• Must be able to work occasional evening and weekends.

Must submit to a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

Assistant Attorney The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe (the “Tribe”), located in Flandreau, South Dakota, is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Tribal Attorney. The attorney, under the direction of the Tribal Attorney, will be tasked with the responsibility of prosecuting the Tribe’s Law and Order Code, and will work closely with Tribal Police and other local state and federal agencies to fulfill the position’s obligations. Enrollment Specialist The primary responsibility of this position is to distribute, explain the requirements and process enrollment applications for the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe either verbally or in writing. The Enrollment Specialist will be responsible for receiving and filing of documents pertaining to Tribal Enrollment. Process applications for Tribal enrollment; including ensuring copy of receipt from Finance for DNA & Application Fees, coordination of DNA testing with lab etc. Process Tribal ID requests from membership with receipt from Finance. Request birth certificates, death certificates and Tribal affiliation information either orally or by mail. Must become proficient in the utilization of blood quantum charts to determine Tribal membership and degree of Indian blood.
