Donate Blood to Help Local Supply Flandreau, SD- Flandreau High School’s FFA will host a community blood drive on Wednesday, February 28 from 7:30 am to 11:00 am and 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Flandreau High School. This blood drive will benefit the local blood supply and directly impact the lives of patients at Avera Flandreau. We invite individuals that have donated multiple times as well as those that are donating for the first time. A person can donate blood every 56 days. “The cold and flu season has been extremely strong this year, preventing many from being able to give blood,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “We have experienced a 15% decrease in donations associated with the cold and flu season and have moved into a “Critical Needs” status for blood donations. We encourage those that are feeling well and healthy to help support the blood supply during a difficult time to keep supplies at healthy levels. We are in great need of all blood types.” Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of the donation.
