It was so sad to say goodbye to my friend Rodney E. Johnson (Rod), but his Parkinson’s had progressed to “no mobility, no ability to talk, and finally, not even the ability to swallow.” I’m sure he’s in a happier place. Our thanks to his wonderful care givers at Riverview Healthcare and also the Asera Hospice team. Pastor Alan delivered a kind and warm eulogy to send him off, sharing the bonding he and Rod had over law enforcement. (Pastor Alan has 2 sons in that profession !) God Bless all who helped us along the way. Rod’s neighbors, the Elverud family and the Brech family were a Godsend; Mike and Jackie are wonderful; the Flower Shoppe never disappoints. We will miss Rod, but know we’ll “catch up later” and he can meet up with his children, Eric and Cheri who preceeded him in death. Thank you to all. Memorial funds are being directed to Pastor Alan’s chaplaincy to Law Enforcement, and to a Youth Group.

The Moody Conservation District is conducting a meeting to review the MOODY COUNTY SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL STANDARDS and discuss if any changes need to be made to the Standard. This Standard was last updated in January of 2007. The standard contains standards and regulations for controlling erosion and sediment in Moody County.

Meeting date has been set for Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

The meeting will be held at the USDA Service Center at 1 p.m. The Service Center is located across the street East of the Moody County Courthouse.

Administrative Assistant Summary: This is a FT (40 hour a week) position located at the FSST Tribal Health Center. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Clinic CEO and administrative and financial functions of the Health Center. The incumbent works with materials and assists with situations, which are confidential in nature, a high degree of discretion is required.

Education/Experience required: High school diploma or GED required. Graduation from a secondary or technical college and/ or extensive work in an administrative office setting preferred.

Minimum of two (2) years standard office practice/administrative assistant experience. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office, Excel, and other electronic applications. Proficient in using business and financial tools.

Qualifications: Customer Service Skills; communication skills, verbal, written and oral skills. Must be organized, flexible, detail oriented and able to multi-task.

Under the general supervision of the Education Director, the school liaison will develop and coordinate all aspects of the Education Demonstration grant and the 93-638 Johnson O’Malley program for the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. The School Liaison will develop and coordinate cultural, educational, and recreational activities for Native students and professional development opportunities for students, parent committees, school board and administration. The school liaison will serve as a mentor advising students in college/career preparation, academic support and holistic wellness.

Minimum Qualifications: • Must be a high school graduate. Must have completed a minimum of two (2) years of college in Education, Social Work, Family Studies, Child Development or closely related field highly preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Must have administrative experience with coordinating, planning, organizing and implementing meetings and programs for a diverse audience.

• Must have proficient computer skills with the ability to maintain computer records and data.

• Must have experience in preparing written reports.

• Must be able to work occasional evening and weekends.
