Facility Worker Night Shift Dakota State University is seeking applications for a full-time Facility Worker. The position is responsible for the custodial care and minor maintenance for buildings on the DSU campus. Duties will include floor care consisting of vacuuming, shampooing carpets, scrubbing, mopping, waxing and polishing floors. Public Comments: Flandreau resident Janii White addressed Council requesting clarification on City ordinances and policies concerning snow removal in residential areas by City staff and Flandreau residents. Discussion ensued regarding methods to communicate to residents when the City will be plowing in their area as well as what the policy is for clearing snow on their property. The Mayor had no report. The City Administrator shared that the recent snowfall created challenging conditions for snow plowing. A meeting was held recently with Tracy Thorne, WAPA, who indicated wholesale electric rates should be stable through 2025. Pederson informed Council that Senate Bill 66 should be introduced this week which, if approved, would prevent municipalities from growing through the provision of electric to newly annexed properties. Council was updated on Healthy Hometown committee goals to beautify the west end of Flandreau and create a bike path thru Flandreau that would begin at the west end and merge into the existing bike path by the Museum on the east end of Flandreau; associated issues are being researched. Motion by Tufty and seconded by Unger to approve the Administrative Reports. The following members voted aye: Bjerke, Pesall, Sutton, Tufty, Unger, and Whitman. Nays: None. Absent: None. Old Business: None New Business: Pastor Alan Blankenfeld, Moody County Cares Chairman, shared information regarding the organization and their focus on assisting people with needs associated with mental health and well-being. The organization requests support in the amount of $1,000 to help fund the first year subscription and costs to join South Dakota’s 211 call line program that offers countywide services to surrounding communities. The call line offers help through the SD suicide hotline as well as general information services regarding local businesses and organizations. Motion by Pesall and seconded by Bjerke to approve $1,000 in financial support to Moody County Cares to assist in funding the first year’s subscription and costs. Summary: The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial investments and management; the annual audit process, cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting, banking and long term debt management and supervision of accounting and finance staff. The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree in accounting or finance, CPA plus, 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting environment with direct experience or exposure to governmental (enterprise) accounting and familiarity with Governmental Accounting and Auditing Standards, 3+ years of experience with personnel management, ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal. Additionally, qualified candidates must have strong computer skills including a preferred accounting software program(s), be a self-starter and work autonomously. A history of working with Tribal governments or non-profit entities in this capacity is a requirement. B. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis to a maximum of three years. Brief Summary: The Grant Writer is a member of the business development team, responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to identify, prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals. The Grant Writer will perform prospect research to evaluate prospects for grants. The Grant Writer will work with finance and program staff to gather the needed information to apply for funding and ensure reporting compliance with funders on all grant programs. The Grant Writer is responsible to single out and seek funds for existing and future Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe (FSST) projects.
