ARC/PLC Producers have until September 30, 2015 to sign up for the 2014/2015 Farm Program (ARC/PLC). If you have not completed the paperwork, please call the FSA Office for an appointment at 605-997-2949, Ext. 2. If you have already signed up but have landlord signatures or cash leases to submit, the deadline is September 30, 2015. If you have questions on the status of your farms, please call the office to verify. There will not be an extension of the deadline to sign up. Time is short and with harvest around the corner, you are encouraged to complete the process as soon as possible. All signatures or leases must be submitted by the deadline or payments will not be issued. Farm Changes Please report any farm ownership, operator and any other farm changes to the office as they occur. Direct Deposit Payments from our office including CRP and ACR/PLC payments are made by direct deposit. Please contact our office as soon as possible if you have changed financial institutions so fall payments go to the correct account. 2015 Moody County COC Elections Ballots will be mailed early November to producers in Colman, Egan, Lynn, Enterprise, Blinsmon and Alliance townships in Moody County for the 2015 County Committee Election. Ballots must be returned in person or postmarked by December 7, 2015. The FSA farmer elected committee system has been a key factor in the successful administration of farm programs. If you are a farm operator in this area please take an active part in this election process. AG FOREIGN INVESTMENT DISCLOSURE ACT The Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act of 1978 became effective on February 2, 1979. It requires any foreign person who: • acquires or transfers any interest other than a security interest in agricultural land to submit a completed FSA-153 to the Secretary of Agriculture not later than 90 calendar days after the date of acquisition or transfer, or • held any interest, other than a security interest, in agricultural land on February 1, 1979, to have submitted a report to the Secretary not later than August 1, 1979. The information required by the Secretary should be reported form FSA-153 which is available at the Moody County FSA Office. MPP Dairy Program MPP Dairy applicants have until September 30, 2015 to register for their election coverage for 2016. Price Support FSFL loans can be applied to erect storage for many different crops. Contact our FSA Office if you have a need for additional storage and or handling equipment for your crops. Interest rate for a 7 year bin loan is 2.0%, 10 year bin loan is 2.25%, and a 12 year loan is 2.2.5%. Interest rate changes (or can change) on the first of each month. Rate is locked in at time of loan approval. Crop Loans: Current interest rate for commodity loans is 1.25%. We will be doing commodity crop loans on a web-based system this year so it may take a while to get all bugs worked out. Be prepared for your loan to take a little longer than normal. Be sure to call at least a week in advance to get lien searches completed and to se up an appointment to sign your loan papers. CRP-Conservation Reserve Program USDA Announces Conservation Incentives for Working Grass, Range and Pasture Lands Beginning Sept. 1, farmers and ranchers can apply for financial assistance to help conserve working grasslands, rangeland and pastureland while maintaining the areas as livestock grazing lands. The CRP-Grasslands initiative will provide participants who establish long-term, resource-conserving covers with annual rental payments up to 75 percent of the grazing value of the land. Cost-share assistance also is available for up to 50 percent of the covers and other practices, such as cross fencing to support rotational grazing or improving pasture cover to benefit pollinators or other wildlife. Participants may still conduct common grazing practices, produce hay, mow, or harvest for seed production, conduct fire rehabilitation, and construct firebreaks and fences.
